I went to Firestone at 201 W Rio Grande, Victoria TX 77901 on Friday, August 26, 2016 for a tune up. What happened then will surprise you!

You won't believe such a thing still happened in USA. They don't do what I asked them to do, instead they do whatever they like to do. They replace the 4 spark parks for $ 59.96 and the labor for removal and replace the spark plugs is $ 111.- (ONE HUNDRED ELEVEN US DOLLARS). Wow!!

Did it need a PhD degree to change the spark plugs?

They also did the Cooling System Pressure Test and replace the Air Filter! I don't know much about car engine, but I do sure that tuning the engine doesn't have anything to do with the air conditioning system!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.

Monetary Loss: $245.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Firestone Complete Auto Care Cons: Tried to rip us off.

Location: Victoria, Texas

A "tune up" is something from the past and almost never something you need to do on a regular or irregular basis. By requesting a tune up you gave them carte blanche to do whatever they thought consisted of a "tune up." When your vehicle starts acting funny then take it to a real mechanic and describe what it is doing and he will go from there.

These days, it`s called "engine diagnostic".

From your complaint I can't tell whether you discussed the expected service and prices with the company before you took it in or not.

Instead of taking your car in for a 'tuneup' first ask what they will be doing in this tuneup and what the total price will be.

In these modern days of high mileage cars that seem to last forever, it is easy to neglect recommended service intervals such as spark plug replacement.

If you put it off too long, then spark plugs can rust onto the engine block and become extremely problematic and expensive to remove and replace, so it might not have anything to do with training, but rather with how well this car has been taken care of prior to bringing it in.

You also mention 'Cooling System Pressure Test' and then complain about the air conditioning being tested. The Cooling System has nothing to do with air conditioning, but rather the system to cool your engine. You really would want this to be tested during a tune-up.

I doubt they did anything to test the air conditioning, and if you have AC problems in the near future, you will be made to feel like an *** if you complain about it being done previously during the tune-up.

SO, you have two complaints about this service.

Did you even talk to them about what they'd do and how much it would cost prior to dropping off the car?

The second complaint proves your point that you don't know much about cars since you got it completely wrong. Modern tune-ups may indeed include

Cooling system pressure test is not the Air Conditioning.

You really need to ask a car person you know about this before you file a complaint and make yourself look so totally foolish.

I bet your dad or a friend or a friend of a friend will be able to check the bill for you.
