I am outraged. I feel violated as over $9,000 worth of furniture, silver, china, collective dolls, was stolen by a Cube Smart tenant, removed by Police in September of 2012. This was confirmed by the Cube Smart Manager. When I went there in December (later in the day when dark) to deposit a few items in my unit before moving the next week, I noticed my lock changed. I had purchased A Cube Smart Lock. This was a small gold lock. Naturally I could not open my own unit! The manager hacked it off and gave me another lock. It was dark and cold so I put the things in there and left.

When the day came for the mover to meet me there (reputable mover with references galore) it was the morning that the poor children were murdered in Newtown Connecticut. Everyone was in tears and in disbelief. The last thing on my mind was what was in my 15 x 25 foot unit despite my lock being switched. I was in shock as was everyone there.

When my things were delivered to North Carolina, I noticed my dressing table stool was there but no dressing table. The mover said "Patricia we moved everything there." I believe him as he has tons of clients and again, is very reputable. I also told him he could have my air conditioner for his new baby that was in the storage unit as I did not need it down south. He told me in NC that when he opened the box it was stuffed with newspapers. So, the tenant, (yes, I know his name) that was removed from Cube Smart and it was stipulated he could never rent at Cube Smart in CT again, took that also. The list is extensive that he took...no doubt he noticed I was out of the state the entire year (down in North Carolina restarting my former business). I believe he stole these things from around June to September when he was removed. I am outraged as the insurance company I insured with for Cube Smart said...."there were not visible signs of forced entry on your unit." How do you leave visible signs when you *** a lock off? And that IS burglary. They also say they cover theft not burglary. Absurd.

I will pursue this as I feel violated, angry, outraged at their dragging their feet to settle this. If not settled to my satisfaction, I will bring suit against them. NO ONE should rent for 4 years, pay good money each month, insure with them and then lose so many of their valuables...and I had beautiful antiques an items which is why I decided to spend the money and store. I will see this to the end.

Monetary Loss: $9000.

Location: South Windsor, Connecticut

That story seems to be a recurring nightmare around the country. Cubesmart employees seem to be involved in the burglaries at some locations.

Prices of longtime tenants steadily rise by inching up few dollars at a time. A practise made eadier when bills are paid with credit or debit cards. Tenants fail to notice a rise of $5, $10 over a period of time. Not until you close your account or have reason to go into the office.

That's when you find out you think your bill is $181 and finally find you have been paying $2188 for over 2 years. It isn't explained, you're told "you've been paying $218 since" whatever date they give you.

You are right about the billing..I stored for 4 years and noticed and questioned this billing... but more devastating has been the burglary...It is such as shame.

I am persuing this still.... will report if Cube Smart rectifies my loss .. as they should... or I need to sue..

which I am prepared to do if need be. Patricia

Hi, it has been 3 and 1/2 years and I am curious if you were ever able to get this resolved to your satisfaction?

No, Anna...I spent almost a year trying to be receive satisfaction. ..which would never be enough as some personal items are not replaceable.

Then their corporate office said their insurance company AIG would make it right. No.....they did not...that claims adjuster also was not about to help in any way, shape or form. I was going to put it on CT news as I have a good connection there, but then I had to expand my company....go home as my mom was not doing great and I wanted to spend time with her and my dad...I let it go for more important things and while I don't think of it often any longer...my beautiful oriental carpet, my crystal, lenox, furniture...irreplaceable personal items....I will leave this in the hands of God (AND do a video). They are dishonest people....I will NEVER store again....rather put the items in a garage and throw the key away....so horrible and violating.

...I may still do a video...yes think I will...my videos get a lot of views... now that I am calm a GREAT idea.

I don't think my company, Pulse Nutritional, will be hurt by this...I wondered that initially. ..but I think it would be great and help others....thanks for bringing it to the forefront of my mind again .
