Csl Plasma Donation Center Review from Atlanta, Georgia
I went to CSL in late Sep for the first time. They were offering a promo of $50 for your 1st 5 donations.
Based on what I read online and advised over the phone, I expected to be there for 3-3.5 hrs. There seemed to be a general sense of confusion, meetings, and delays so that i spent a lot of time just waiting to start. Once I finally was able to donate, the tech was very clumsy and gave me, in my opinion, a bad stick. Almost immediately, the unit was stopping and not collecting my blood.
I called the tech over about 4 times to have her check my needle and the machine to no avail. She kept insising that everything was okay. After over 1 hr and not even half of the container collected, I got a new tech who got the machine working somewhat better. But after the 2 hr mark, it stopped again, for good.
By this time, I'm getting antsy, because I was well over the 3.5 hr mark for being there. I had another commitment, and I'm in intense pain up to my neck I asked if i could leave. The tech said that she would check with her mgr and when she came back said that she could offer me a restick in the other arm or otherwise I would be put on the defferal list for 60 days. I declined.
So she went back to the mgr who authorized me to be disconnected. I was paid $50 for 3/4 donation and told to come back at some point in Oct (don't remember specific date, but it was a few weeks later). I mentioned that was less than 60 days, and was told that the system must've prorated me based on my collection amount. I said it didn't matter bcz I don't think I'll come back (due to my already bad experience ).
FFW to today, 11.20, I decide to return. Since they already have me in the system, it shouldn't take as long. After 1 hr, I get my vitals checked, I was informed that I would only receive $18 since I'm now a returning cst, and didn't return to donate within the 45 days allowed. Im not eligible for $50.
I dispute this based on my perceived deferral, but lo and behold, there's no record of that. I escalate to asst mgr, he tells me no but I can start the donation and he can have the mgr speak with me. During the 1.5 hrs, I was donating, the mgr never comes over to soeak to me. Afterwards I'm still told it's $18.
I ask to speak to the mgr, and after another 10 min she takes me to a small office and basically shuts down any conversation in order to deny me the difference. I tried to question where I would've heard 60 day deferral from, and she tells me that she doesnt know bcz its 56 days and I would only have been advised that if it were to happen again.
Very rude, very condescending, no resolution. I feel put out, and essentially made me wish I stayed home, or left after i was denied by the asst mgr.
Reason of review: Problems with payment.
