Conn's Appliance Stores need to train their debt collector's on what the Debt Collection Laws are. They violate EVERY law.

They will call you at work (even though they are told they cannot), they dont even tell them who they are when they call, demand the corporate office number for your company to tell your employers you owe them (even though you have worked out payment arrangements), they call you at least 10-15 times A DAY (I'm pretty sure that's called.. HARRASSMENT).

I understand their job is collecting money, not harrassing or threatening. I don't think THEY understand that.

I feel the same way I have never missed a payment and this will be my last one but I called and made arrangements, they still called me at least 12 times a day, they called at work as well. After I pay this last payment today I will NEVER buy anything else from them. Not to mention the quality of their furniture is 50 times cheaper then the amount of money they charge

Oh Kally you self riotous ***

If you pay your bills, you wouldn't have that problem because they will have no reason to call you. You weren't mad when you purchased their merchandise, so please don't get mad because they want their money.

If bills were paid these people would not have a job to begin with. They are taught how to harrass in training classes.

They are given anonymous cells to make collection calls. They are given outrageous collection goals to reach. They are worked for an average of 50 hours a week. I have been a previous employee and the people to blame are the upper management that seek any means necessary to keep their 6 figure salaries pouring in.

Please boycott this broken retail stain on our society.

I understand people need jobs in our struggling economy. However taking a job with this company is harmful to us all.

I purchased a camera on credit. So far, so good.

Never got a payment book, account number or anything. Payment was due Sat, Aug 20. Was called on Sun, Aug 21. Explained and was told no problem, payment book would arrive Fri, Aug 26.

Paid in person Aug 22. Aug 26 still no book.

I get tired of seeing boards where people have a flippant remarks like "just pay your bill" or "should not have bought it if you can't afford it". Bull ***.

Look at the country we live in. Companies layoff daily, recession. Come on! Has anyone ever bought something they could "afford" (all masterful bill payers and finance experts) and two or three months later been laid off, or had a medical emergency that changed the game a bit?

Unless your a millionaire you won't always be able to cover the uncertainties in life. How dare you come down on others that may be inquiring because your perception is that they are just irresponsible and should not buy what they can't afford. You must be wealthy or spoiled or extremely fortunate if you have never faced circumstances that alter your ability to pay a debt you may have. Try telling this to the millions of people that bought within their means while earning 6 figures but now barely bring in half of that.

Does that make them irresponsible? Get off that trip. It's ridiculous and I am tired of hearing that.

I believe you should pay your bills and on time. I also know that life happens.

ok, and if you can no longer afford your sh1t, call up the company, do a voluntary repo and they'll come get the stuff you can no longer afford and close the account.

why should you be able to keep using the stuff you bought if you can no longer make payments?

why should the company take the loss for you because you are laid off or whatever. and don't give me this "upper management makes 6,7 figures whatever".

That has nothing to do with it. The fact is, you bought on credit, you can no longer pay, you now owe the company (+ interest)

They only starts calling repeatedly after you miss your second payment (60 days delinquent)

If you are that far behind, they assume they ain't getting paid unless they use any means necessary.

bottom line, DON'T BUY EXPENSIVE Sh1T UNLESS YOU KNOW YOU CAN STILL AFFORD IT OR HAVE A BACKUP PLAN EVEN IF "LIFE HAPPENS"

Remember you said this cold heartedly when your *** get kick on the street. Everyone who is up comes down eventually......js you can go from 6 figures to sip in a few weeks so how the *** can one predict a layoff, get hurt etc. And its not even realistic for ppl to just give up *** they have been paying on *** give my money back you can repo it but i want my money no rent stuff here or work with me .....sheeessh

That's why you don't go crazy and max out the amount you are given to make sure if "life" happens you know your debt is not to much for you to handle and you can still manage. I had circumstances that happened plus medical bills and yet I manage to stay on top of everything because when I did get stuff from Conns I only got what I needed not what I wanted.

So it is possible to be responsible with your money and yes if you know you can't afford it then it is not a necessity but a luxury you want.

I'm 23 and my credit score is in the 700's and people who made 6 figures and are now barely making it because they got used to a certain life style that's why "they are barely making it". I'm tired if people talking about "the economy this and that" obviously if we are in a recession you have to adjust your finances as well so you won't have debt if "life" happens

Well Conns is ripping me off totally. I bought a $2799 TV in 2009 from them, on "same as cash" promotion.

$1200 into paying them the TV has went out and has to be replaced, and now they are throwing a $1100 TV at me and expect me to still pay the remaining amount even though I've given them what this new TV is worth even though I dont want it. I just took it to shut them up, file with the BBB on them, and then keep the old TV itself too. They were trying to *** me so now I'm gonna *** them. Good luck Conns you will need it.

Not every situation is about someone just not paying their bills.

I have paid mine and kept up my end of the bargain and they are not, very long story but they are screwing me. See ya around the internet.

All i can say is if you buy it on credit, pay for it. The financial woes everyone in this country faces is affected a lot by the fact people go out and purchase things without proper education on financial responsibility. Meaning they cant afford it but they want it badly enough they put themselves in debt that they know they cant afford to pay it back. Then when the collector comes to get the money for an object that you have enjoyed watching, listening to or using for some time... all of a sudden its junk and oh it busted a few days after you got it.

People need to grow up financially, mentally, and responsibly....dont blame others for your misfortunes, these collectors and sales people who you say lie are doing their job so they can have a paycheck to pay their bills and when you lovely folks dont pay your owed debt to conn's or anyone else for that matter you are affecting the well being of others and their financial state and possibly putting another person out on the streets with no income....trickle effect.

Understand your rights as a consumer, understand their rights as a business....and understand if you really cant afford it then you really dont need to get it.

Guest

Why are they still in business? In my humble opinion, this is why.

They advertise their HDTV's like crazy, and there are enough people out there that think they have to have the "latest and greatest," whether they can afford it or not. Then, once they're on the Conn's string, Conn's is more than happy to *** them around and pull these kinds of stunts to make sure they get the money.

That's my 2 cents worth. Thanks.

Guest

I worked for them.

Yes you are told to call and not to provide name and pretend a friend is

calling and us first name this way you

wont be tiped off its a collection call.

Guest

Yes you should pay your bill. Yes you should call me at home and remind me, maybe once of twice a day.

However, as yourself this question Conn's do you want to get me fired from all the harassing phone calls from you at work? Because then you are not getting any money.

One thing I did (when I purchase a sorry *** Sony camera and it broke in 1 month) was I did not give them my work number. They did not even call to verify my employment.

Guest

Amen Loco. If you buy it, pay for it.

Don't whine just because someone loaned you money and then they get pissy because you aren't paying.

Don't be fail. Pay your bills.

Guest

Dang !

If it was my money and you failed to make a payment I would be after you *** to recover every $ possible. You asked for the loan and now when you can not pay monthly note you have a somethig to say about them asking you to pay for it.

That's what's wrong with this country.

People buying with no ability to pay for it. You deserve every call u get!
