According to my dealer, who sold me the 2013 STE5 without disclosing this first, if the bike is parked in hot weather and the temperature under the bike reaches a certain level, after you start and ride 30-300 feet, the Check Engine code kicks in and completely takes over the display in bright orange. This has happened to me at least 10 times on a bike with 1,000 miles on it.

This is a known fault that BRP refuses to fix according to my dealer. You have to ride it with the check engine on for a few miles, turn the bike off, and turn it back on after the sensor resets. I would like to get a group of us together as this is a potentially dangerous situation. If it happens when you get going and merge into traffic your eyes are immediately drawn to it, and when you don't pay attention to the road on a motorcycle you can get injured or killed.

I have asked for my money back or a replacement that doesn't have this problem and am waiting for a response. The dealers are knowingly selling these bikes without full disclosure and BRP should be forced to recall all of them and fix them. We need to get this all over the internet. Do not buy anything made by BRP.

I am going to notify the federal vehicle safety oversight organization (NHSTA) and see what they can do.

The behavior of the dealers and BRP are unconscionable.

I have had brake problems sense it was new 2017 . Brake locked up at 75 mph for about 5 seconds and then after park brake would not release.

I had the same problem I fixed it myself drill two 1/2 inch holes on each corner of the top of the lid of the air box glue screen over holes to keep stuff out of it. Temp in air box will stay low when spyder is parked in the hot sun. Have not had any problem since I fixed it.

My bike the Spyder 2016 model with 500 miles on it, a fairly modest drive in 70s weather when the check engine light came on. Immediately stopped and looked for any obvious signs, none found.

Restarted and the check engine light was still on, made it home with no problems. Very much concerned about if any problems are present.

that is not as bad as my 2011 model needing a new power steering unit with only 1300 miles on it. of course it is out of warranty because of its age.

am trying to get someone with authority to return my calls.

Hi I read what you said about your 2011 model I also have same bike and experienced same problem with my DPI also. It was expensive to fix with no warranty.

Bike did have 15,500 though but still shouldn't of been going out. It also had 2 sensors going out
