Briggs And Stratton ,cheap and nasty ,,read on
After buying a Briggs and Stratton 550 4 stroke mower costing me $400 I thought at least I was getting a good brand mower ,,,well maybe in the past yes , but after the starting cord snapped the problems began ., run down to Bunnings and get a new cord easy , but trying to put on ridiculas ..the cheap bastards have riveted the cord spool attachment on and you can't unscrew it off to simply change the cord .. SO I get the drill out and drill the rivets out to find the PLASTIC spool has VIRTUALLY MELTED as it was spinning around with the broken cord inside ,, I forgot to say that the mower started at the same time as the cord broke ,so I finished the mowing before I TRIED to put the cord on , as the parts were melted I spat the dummy , so bloody *** cheap and nasty design , it was easier to take of all the top *** off the mower and bolt on an electric drill conversion that I had laying around on an old mower ...BUT WHY ,,,Something which would normally be a 5 min job to fix , they expect you to go and pay through the nose at a mower shop ,,,,, Sorry pal when this mower dies I'll buy a GOOD brand next time
Reason of review: Bad quality.

Good luck on finding a "good brand." Most are now made cheaply and are unreliable in so many ways. Probably best to just buy a cheap tool, mower, etc.
and when it breaks and you can't fix it yourself, just throw it out and buy another.
However, I have also noticed a marked decline in the quality of B&S products lately. Once the standard-bearer, they are now just run of the mill.
