A family member passed away unexpectedly over Labor Day weekend. I went online to look up the funeral home address, and got a page I THOUGHT was the funeral home's website, with an obituary for the deceased printed on the page. There was a link on the page that said "Order Flowers" and I thought...oh how nice, the funeral home is linking me to a local florist so I can order flowers. I thought I saw an FTD logo on the page and went ahead and ordered the flowers to be delivered Tuesday by noon. Since the wake was only one day, it was imperative the flowers be delivered before the 2 pm viewing.

I even called the 800 number Tuesday morning at 9am to follow up that, in fact, they had received my order, since I didn't received the promised email confirmation. I was assured they had the order, the rep read me all the delivery information and said ' yes the flowers will be there before noon."

At 1:15 pm on Tuesday, I got a phone call from someone saying she was from 'Blooms Today' and the flowers I had ordered couldn't be delivered before 5 pm because the florist hadn't received a delivery from their wholesaler in time. Who are you I asked? I never heard of "Blooms Today" and believed I had ordered from FTD.

I explained (ok, I yelled) this is a one day wake -- you cannot be late and what florist runs out of flowers? Not to mention my embarrassment in front of other family members attending this wake that I didn't even acknowledge the death?

My choice, they explained, was cancel the order or accept delivery at 5 pm. I told them I'd call back and immediately Googled florists in the town where the funeral home was, dialed one of them, and explained my predicament. Remember it is now 1:30 and the wake starts at 2. The angel on the other end said "no problem, they will be there between 2 and 2:30."

Needless to say, I called back Blooms Today and went right up the line to their Director of Operations. (Yelling works). She apologized, said she would credit me the amount of the order, and deliver another bouquet to the funeral home at 5 pm with a note apologizing for the delay in delivery.

She also asked me what florist I called directly to get an (almost) immediate delivery. When I told her, she said 'oh, they're on our list." Really? Why didn't you call them before calling me and making me crazy?

I then called the funeral home to warn them that the link on their website for flowers is to a very disreputable company. The woman said "we don't have a website."

Not only did I get taken by ordering something from a company I never heard of, but I went to a website that had nothing to do with the funeral home. It was legacy.com, and represented itself as the funeral home, even including an obituary for my deceased family member.

I am a college graduate and do a lot of internet shopping (albeit with respected nationally known brands), I cannot believe I got taken like this. Now I am reading other reviews and see I may have inadvertently signed up for a membership at 9.95 a month. Good news (if there is any in this sorry tale) is that I used my American Express card and I know they will fight for me.

Beware, don't order from these crooks. The few extra dollars you may spend with a local florist, or FTD or even 1-800 flowers is well worth it.

Reason of review: Problem with delivery.

Monetary Loss: $100.

DO NOT order on line fro FTD flowers or Legacy. I ordered through the "funeral page and they did not get delivered and informed me after the fact. I am so mad right now."Type your message here

personally they have no right posting your deceased ones permanently or should they .

Same thing happened to me. I googled the deceasedโ€™s name because even though I knew my friend had passed I had not received any news of the services.

I did this search in the wee hours on a Sunday (barely) morning. I learned the funeral was going to be in 31 hours. This was from a google search of her name which took me to a strangely brief obituary in a local newspaper posted on the legacy.com website. .

And THERE was the โ€œorder flowersโ€ link along side the name of the funeral home. Realizing I had better get an order in immediately I clicked the link which took me to the Bloomstoday website. I believe I read somewhere that 24 hours was needed to fulfill an order. I thought I was good, only to receive an email a DAY day later, the morning of the funeral, saying they were unable to find a local florist who could fill the order in time.

They did say They would refund the charge, which remains to be seen. Thankfully the family posted a suggested โ€œin lieu of flowersโ€ charity in the REAL obituary on the funeral homeโ€™s website.

This was a very upsetting experience. Buyer beware!

I ordered a beautiful arrangement to be delivered to a church for a very dear friend whom passed away. I was sold on a beautiful white vase with a cross and a huge arrangement of white roses and lilies, etc.

What was delivered was a small arrangement in a clear vase. I called the local florist and explained I paid $88.00 for flowers and delivery and it was not what I ordered. They explained to me they delivered as legacy.com sent to them and paid them.

This website is a scam and they steal from people and lie!! This was very important to me and they ruined it and stole my money!!

All wire services do this, they take your money, only send half to the florist that fulfills your order. Call your local florist directly! You will get more for your money!

Anonymous. Same thing happened to me.

Ordered flowers two days before the funeral. From the obit from legacy.com. flowers. Never showed up at the funeral.

Was very pissed off. Called customer service. They yws the order wes never processed. Said they would credit my card back.

BEWARE! Dont orders flowers from them.

Go to your local florist or 1800flowers. They are a joke!!!

Horrible service,

We placed order 5 days before the funerals and today we found out that they could not deliver the flowers, not just on time but at all .

Taking advantage of people during the hardest times of their life, it's just repulsive.

No, it's well worth it when you call a real florist. Ftd and 1800 flowers are wire services just like blooms today.

This is how it works the consumer calls or click on there link and order flowers from a OG aka order gatherer not a real florist. After jacking up the price and hidden fees they then send the order over to a florist that has a membership with them to fill there orders. The real florist lose money, they only get 70%.

Not cool at all. Best advise is to call a real florist that will get 100%

I have found great success finding local florists on BloomNation.com they put you in contact with the florist doing your work rather than 1-800- flowers randomly contracting work out to poor florists.

I too, have been ripped off totally from Blooms Today!

I ordered two of the same arrangements and same size. One of them was a cheaper and smaller size, yet I was charged the same price as the biggest one.

The biggest one which was also supposed to cime with a ceramic decorative pot, came in a PLASTIC green container. Again, I was charged full price for both!

After speaking with someone at the florist, they agreed to refund me for one of the arrangements, which they did (The DO have a complete refund satisfaction policy)

A week later, the charge WAS PUT BACK ON!

So shameful of this company to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE BUT ESPECIALLY MOURNERS!!

Yes they are . The ones that are suffering from this is the TRUE LOCAL FLOWER SHOPS...THE FUNERAL HOMES ARE GETTING percentage from them ...

and then then florist they use have to be a member of another rip of FTD .. and they send the order to the florist for only 71 percent of the order ... buyer beware .

When ordering flowers call a local florist in that town .. ALL the money you spend goes straight to the local florist and you get what you pay for..!!!

Legacy .. blooms today ..

the sympathy store.. From You flowers.. Wesley berry .Avas flowers Just flowers..The gift tree. These are all fake order gathering companies...

They offer the funeral homes 20 percent. Discount to use then and then after they take there fee. They try to use a local florist and and they only pay them 71 percent...

plus they make the florist join and pay member fess monthly......THIS Is. TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETHICS ....When ordering flowers take the time....Call a local florist direct...don't be fooled .always look for an actual address and local numbers ...

Hello,

I wanted to apologize for this. I know the damage has been done and I can't change that, but I did want to let you know we do understand how troubling this can be when it happens during such a critical time such as a funeral.

I can't express enough how much we care and want only the best for our customers. When things to awry we will do what we can to make up for as much as we can.

We realize it is the customer who is being hurt, not us. Please, if there is anything we can do to help anyone with their situation, feel free to message me at friends@bloomstoday.com and I will do everything I can to help.

Thank you and best wishes,

Laura

Try not ripping your customers off and screwing your local florist!

Legacy.com is an obituary site that pulls obits from all over so that people may have an easier time finding the deceased one. Florists (local ones at least), in fact, use legacy.com to double check funeral and viewing details when they are unable to get a hold of the church or funeral home or if the sender gave incorrect info. Just an FYI

Regardless, they are affiliated with whatever florist is hooking up through their site. And the one I encountered is a total rip off.

I cannot get customer service on the phone. It took numerous tries to even place the order. I paid $90 plus and the flowers were never delivered.

The wake and funeral are over now โ€“ what are they going to do? Send flowers to make up for it?
