I heard an advertisement for a free radio 30 day trial offer for bare minerals so I went ahead and called the number. The lady explained to me that I would have to pay 10.99 for shipping and handling and get a full kit, if i didn't like the kit I could return it and get my money back making it a free trial without any obligation to buy the product. If i liked the product and wanted to order it then I would be charged two payments of $29.99 later on. So I thought it was a great deal to try out makeup that I had been wanting to try out for so long. I went ahead and gave her my information. She told me she would send me an email after 24 hours confirming my order.

Afterwards, I came online and searched about the radio offer. I should have done this before speaking with them since hearing about all the bad reviews and decided that I wanted to cancel the order. Two hours after the first call I called back and they told me to call bare minerals customer service instead and not the radio offer phone number. When I called customer service, they told me that it could not be cancelled since I didn't have an order number and that I should wait for that email and try calling them back to see what could be done.

After I got the email with my order number, I called back to cancel. This time they told me that these types of orders could not be cancelled but that I should wait for the order to arrive at my house and then refuse the package unopened so I wouldn't have to be pay for s&h. Once the package is received at their warehouse they would refund me the money I had paid which was 10.99 for shipping. I argued that the package hadn't even shipped out yet so wouldn't it be easier to just cancel the order instead of wasting my time and bare minerals time??? they told me yes but that was their policy.

Even then, I wasn't mad at them just mad at myself for falling for this scam. So I went ahead and refused the unopened package as they instructed me to do so when it finally arrived. I tracked the package and was waiting until it was received by their warehouse to get my money back. They had received the package and so I waited a couple of days for them to process my return and still I didn't get a refund. So I went ahead and contacted customer service again, this time I was told that refunds take a billing cycle to process which is about 30 days. So I should wait about 30 days to receive my refund and I would be credited back everything I paid till then. Once again I said ok I will wait. But today they continued to charge me the $32.99 which was the first payment that I had to pay for a kit. I am so frustrated and mad at this company for keeping a hold of my money for no reason. They received the product back unopened and are still charging me. I am a very patient person and can understand that i would have to wait for 30 days for my refund if that is their processing time but why charge me still????? why even send out the package if I wanted to cancel the order???? why would they make it so difficult for me to cancel my order???? I am still waiting to be refunded and am so done with this company. Instead of having to deal with this returning by mail and waiting for a package, I was gonna go to one of their stores and get the makeup in person. But i have lost all respect for this company. I thought they were very reputable and thats why I fell for their scam but they just want to hold onto your money for as long as they can. Do not fall for their radio scam!!!!

Reason of review: Order processing issue.

Monetary Loss: $43.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

Beware of this company. This is a "shyster-type-deal", same as many of the supplemental vitamin product companies.

You sign up for the trial and they immediately charge your account. I returned product within 2 weeks after receiving it: mailed back on 1/30/15 and now it is 3/30/15 and they have made two charges on my credit card for a total of $171.94 – their initial ploy was “to spread the cost out over two months”. On 1/29 when I phoned to advise I would be returning the products as they irritated my skin, I was told that I would be charged on February 18 as it would not arrive back in time to avoid the charge (!) but that my account would be credited. Now they tell me that without the tracking number there is no way they can find my purchase with my "order number".

The material provided with my order "suggests" a tracking number when returning but does not stipulate that it is REQUIRED. I did send it that way but lost the tracking receipt. I am not done trying to get my money back but I am furious with Bare Essentuals. This is NOT a respectable company.

I have ordered many things online and never have had anything not be credited back promptly and have never had a package fail to arrive. I wish there was a way to really get the word out on this unsavory company and their practices.

I am angry with myself that I fell for their scam of free trial. Yes, I should have known if "something sounds to be too good to be true, it is not true!"
