I had ordered Alside patio slider doors to be installed by Vanderlawn Home Improvement located in Hudsonville ,MI in August 2016. It was suppose to take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.

I ended up having to wait over 8 weeks after ordering these doors to finally get them installed. I didn't need special order sized doors. I can't believe that Alside doesn't stock doors that are just your basic 6foot size sliders. I ended up having to call the installers after waiting so long asking where were my doors cause i ordered them early so i could have them installed before the winter weather would arrive.

After calling he said ok, how about next week on the 21st of Oct? So i don't know if they had already previously shipped and the installer and they just didn't call me earlier to have them installed? So the installers arrived and installed the doors on the 21st Oct. The door window panes were very dirty and the installer asked me if i had window cleaner after he finished the install and i gave him my Windex and paper toweling and he proceeded to clean them.

Unfortunately he didn't do a very good job in cleaning because they were still smeared and looked dirty. So i went ahead and cleaned them more thoroughly the next day when the sun was shining. There was still a lot of sticky material which took time to feel like i finally got them cleaned. But when i looked through them after i thought they were clean i still seen some streaks on both windows.

I looked closely and discovered the streaks/lines i was seeing were actually on the inside window! I immediately called the installer on the 24th Oct. and explained to him what i was seeing on the inside windows. He told me that Alside is suppose to have this great quality control blah blah blah process but said he had at other times where he had the same issues with other door panes being dirty.

So he asked me to give him the Warranty Numbers that came with the doors and give my address again and to take a picture of the windows and text everything to him which i did immediately and he said he would order replacement sashes . I asked him how long before i will get the new sashes because i wanted to get them exchanged and reinstalled before the weather got colder with snow etc. because i also wanted to put insulating plastic over the sashes for the winter because of the cold air that was coming. He said it would take 2 to 3 weeks.

So after 4 weeks around the 21st of Nov i finally called and said it's been over 3 weeks now and was wondering about getting the replacements installed. He said he could come later on in the week so i had to convince him to please come and install them the next day because the weather was going to get worse later in the week. So he agreed to come the next morning. So the installer came and swapped out the door panes and he said i can't believe you are going to put insulating plastic over the doors.

He said i wouldn't need to do that with these doors. Well that turned out NOT to be true! A few days later it got cold and we got snow and the wind was blowing and i felt cold air blowing in all over the bottom of the doors! I was NOT happy to say the least!

I was excited thinking i wouldn't have to put the plastic over the doors like i had to do every year with my old doors. After reading some reviews about the Alside windows i can understand now just how cheaply and inferior Alside products are. The salesman who was also one of the installers made the big claim they were such great doors because of the triple pane and the overlapping blah blah blah but obviously they were NOT as he claimed. I had told the installer before i ordered the doors that i might consider having them install some Alside windows.

But after the reviews and the experience i had with these patio doors i would not install anything more that Alside sells! It took a long time to save up the money to get this new patio slider finally purchased and installed.

If i was a home improvement business i would NEVER sell Alside products to my customers! I am NOT happy with the quality of Alside products!!!

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $500.

Preferred solution: Refund some of my money for the inferior prodcut and because of having to pay higher heat bills becuase the patio doors are NOT as advertised..

Alside Window Cons: Seal failure, Air goes right through the door.

Air infiltration is not seal failure and did not cause seal failure.windows are not submarine hatches nor are any windows and doors air tight.you are misinformed if you think otherwise

@ ke. I don't think you fully understand the issue or sound like any kind of qualified expert regarding the faulty patio doors.

These doors don't have air flowing in at the top or half way down on each side of the doors. It's entering in in the locations where the duct tape is per the pics. Even my old doors did NOT have this much outside air leaking through the bottom and lower end of the doors. The air/breeze is coming in at the bottom half where if it was sealing correctly, which by the way has all the weight of the door at that area of the doors, one would think that the bottom seal would be doing it's job as designed.

Anyone with any kind of brain can understand gravity. So if anyone is "misinformed" it is you ke and you just sound like an internet TROLL who just likes to go on the internet and make comments on others posts to start some kind of ignorant argument with someone because people like you feed off the challenge so why don't you mind your own business and get a life.

I just read the warranty and this is what it reads under "Labor Costs" etc etc. I already paid to have the Patio Slider Doors installed when i bought them.

Then they had to be replaced because the interior windows were smeared and dirty and could not be cleaned. Then both sashes were replaced and now air comes in at the bottom. I live in Michigan where it snows, the wind blows and it's cold!

I replaced my old slider doors because they were old and drafty.

So after spending the money to buy and install a whole new slider i still have a draft issue which will end up costing me more money. I finally had to put a 3M Plastic Kit over the entire frame and doors to keep out the cold air as you can see per my photo. So now Alside states they will "assess" my issue. What is there to assess?

It's obvious what the issue is! Your doors don't keep the wind and cold air out! That IS the issue!

According to the sales pitch they were supposed to be SO efficient because of the way they were designed with overlapping joints etc.

but obviously they do not seal enough to keep out the cold air when closed! I am not going to pay for anything more than i already have done so far. These slider doors and obviously by all the other postings about the windows that Alside manufactures and sells inferior products that do not measure up to the quality as they claim in their brochures and by their installation sales persons.

Per the "limited" warranty (http://www.alside.com/support/warranties/) site you can read it doesn't cover issues that should be warranted without further costs to the buyer!

This is ridiculous especially when they are brand new and just been installed! How can a buyer have confidence in allowing Alside to send a local vendor installer to FIX the issue when they have loopholes written everywhere in the warranty to charge to cover costs for fixing, repairing or replacing their inferior doors and windows?!

When you buy BRAND NEW doors and windows you expect them to work properly and NOT be drafty by allowing the cold air to blow your curtains back and forth! I have researched online since buying my slider patio doors and have read several reviews about Alside products.

Most of what i read was NEGATIVE! I wish i would have taken the time to research the Alside products before i agreed to purchase them. When you buy brand new slider patio doors you expect them to be good quality and NOT have to be repaired or replaced especially when they are brand new! I mean, come on, Alside can't even sell you a slider patio door that has properly cleaned interior glass panels or keep out the cold air?!

The salesman stated they are supposed to have such "greeeeeat" quality control there at Alside. Baloney! Obviously that is not true because the evidence is there in the products they sell.

When i spend my hard earned money for an expensive product i expect good quality and the product to work as advertised! I am still deciding how i am going to try and rectify this issue.

After reading the warranty i am reluctant at this point to allow Alside to send out an installer repair person. I don't have the confidence that even if they replace the window sashes again that they will also be just as drafty as the ones they just replaced because they had dirty filthy windows! Here is the Warranty section about "Labor Cost" that Alside will NOT be responsible for. So would you want them to try and fix, replace or repair THEIR defective products???

See a section of warranty below or you can go to the link posted above and read all warranty information about Alside products.

"This Limited Warranty does not include labor costs and the Manufacturer will not be responsible for any costs incurred in the removal or replacement, installation or reinstallation of the window or of any part or component of the window/patio door, or of any repaired or replacement part or component furnished by Manufacturer under this Warranty for the window/patio door. This Warranty does not cover breakage of glass or torn screening from any cause whatsoever."
