ACity Discount opened its doors for business in Atlanta in 1973. The original owner, Bill Stack, had previously managed a local department store, but when that closed he decided to use his sales knowledge to open a business selling used restaurant equipment to serve the foodservice industry. Throughout the 1970's and 1980's the business thrived selling used commercial kitchen equipment such as ranges, griddles, dough mixers, refrigerators, and freezers, in addition to dishwashers, compartment sinks, concession equipment and restaurant furniture. The current CEO, John Stack, joined the family-owned business in 1977. An early adopter of search optimization, the business name was changed from CityDiscount to ACity Discount in 1986 for a high alphabetized search placement in the Yellow Pages. Now in its 37th year, a third generation has joined this family-run business, ensuring ACity Discount remains one of the nations top suppliers of new and used restaurant equipment to the foodservice industry.
