I need service on my “Edgestar 14K BTU A/C Heating Unit

Unit keeps turning off after six to eight hours. Red light then comes on and we have to empty unit of water. We have had to do this twice in the last 2-3 days!!

Edgestar Air Conditioner is junk

AI Highlights
  • - Leaked after 2 days and stopped working.
  • - Retailer Compactappliance.com was unhelpful; Edgestar is hard to reach; chargeback and BBB filed.

We purchased an Edgestar 12000 BTU portable air conditioner and it was probably the worst purchase I ever made. It started leaking 2 days after I started using it. Best of all it just stopped functioning after that.

The retailer that sold it, Compactappliance.com was just downright unhelpful in resolving my problem. They kept referring me to Edgestar to get it fixed. Almost impossible to get a hold of live person at Edgestar.

Under the advice of others who have had similar experiences with both these outfits, I have filed a credit card charge back and will be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint.

I got the big black 14000 Edstar to to replace my 8000 BTU window air conditioner. Never worked from the beginning.

And the sales rep told me to *** the intake hose. Right now its been running all day in a 312 square foot room all day, and its cooler outside at 90 degrees. Really folks I been running my 8000 BTU for years, and never had this problem. And then you need room for a cookie sheet to drain the water off every hour to, cause nothing else fits the drain is so low.

Call and ask how then before you buy the junk. No matter, like painting you will spill water on your floor and have to clean that up with the rug shampooer. to. And the noise level is as terrible as my window air conditioner.

Just download the manual and see. First the controls don't explain what their purpose is either. Just some tiny images. And the Edgestar has a mind of its own and turns the maximum Three fans picture to the one fan picture light, when its still 90 in the room.

I could go on and on, but you get the point. Buy another window air conditioner. But the problem with a window air conditioner is, I can't open both windows all summer cause of the weight and get a cross breeze. Honestly, you better off buying a $90 5000 BTU window air conditioner from Walmart even if this Edgstar 14.000 cost $50.

I forgot to mention the weak fan blow air up towards the ceiling to, and a 3x3' area on your ceiling will be cooler:zzz. And your gonna need alot of room to store it in your garage to. Its twice as big as the 18.000 btu window air conditioner I seen at Walmart for under $500. 400 Square foot, I doubt it will cool a 40 square foot room.

I hate wasting money on electric. Right now, I'm taking it out of the window and opening the windows, and storing it till I throw it out the window. I been reading a lot of reviews at walmart, and most are honest people, and now these portable air conditioners been around a while, like mine. Everyone is going back to window air conditioners.

None work like they say, so that's how the next guy gets away with lying about his product. Its not even worth getting it fixed. Throw it out, and move on. Like a bad stock investment.

I got to go now, it shut off in the time I wrote this letter, to drain it again on the cookie sheet. Or take it out and throw it away.
