I had two (2) Comfort Star ac/heat pump units installed in my home. The original Goodman ac'/heat pumps had been in my house for 20 years and still worked; however, I was told they should be updated with more efficient units. I contracted with a friend ac man without specifying what type I wanted... He showed up with "Comfort Star" and I was immediately alarmed knowing they were made in KOREA. He assured me he had installed other units that...

The home is less than two yrs and so is the a/c unit. Loud noise coming from unit and heavy wobbling of the upper cover assembly. On closer inspection there are two cracks on the assembly that holds the fan motor/blades. It appears that the imbalanced fan blades has caused excessive stress on the metal cover assembly and this has lead to the cracks. Contacted Eagle Heating and Cooling (distributor/installer in Windsor, Ontario, Canada) as...

Two years after installing a brand new one of these it stopped working. Of course its mid summer here and hot. We had a guy come look at it and he said we need an electronic inside plate at $350 plus tax plus installation. The whole unit was sold to us for $850 plus tax. Not impressed. It's like having the motor go in a car two years later! We have used it sparingly since we bought it and don't know why something so major would be defective so...

I moved into my house which came with a comfortstar minisplit. The unit itself did not have an air filter on it so i tried calling the company to order a filter, because there are none online. Upon calling i had the WORST customer service, and was told they only sell to companies/wholesale and could not tell me any of these "companies" names. I called a local comfort star supporting business which i finally found, they told me to order through...

Custom Mechanical of Selbyville, DE pushed sales of these units 3 years ago. Worked fine first year in warranty then unit froze up and kept vibrating. $900 repair. Then circuit board went out. Over 2 months in winter to get part from China! Another $900. Now not cooling. Tech's been out twice to 'evac and recharge' but same problem. Tech says 'piece of junk' and they don't know how to service them. Paid $6200 for unit and another $2500 in...

Our property management company replaced our Carrier unit with a Comfort Star condensing unit. The unit was replaced at the end of summer last year. The new unit was barely a year old, with not many hours of use as it was replaced at the end of summer last year when during the hottest week in June it it stopped working. We live in Southern California and there's been a heat wave. Lucky me. They tried to cheap out and it's going to cost...

As the other reviewer stated, we had the same problems with the Comfort Star Split unit we purchased. It worked for the first year then the condenser went bad. Not only did the Comfort Star Customer Service rep hang up on us (!), after 8 phone calls and having service a/c repair techs look at it, they refused to honor the warranty stating they no longer make the unit we purchased. We incurred over $700 in expenses trying to repair the condenser,...
