Don’t repair furnace. Just want to sell you a $20,000 new one.
Ive paid monthly fees to cover maintenance and repairs for Both my AC and furnace. Their guys come out twice a year to replace filter and charge lines.
This fall the repairman said: Old furnace. You need a new furnace that starts at $20, 000 and up. Im an elderly woman who gets by on Social Security and a small military pension. He made fun of the fact that was just an old woman and he was the expert.
I asked about getting a replacement partthe coil/strip had burnt out. He didnt even try to locate a part. He left LAUGHING!
On my own I researched this specific furnace. I understand basic electrical issues, carpentry, plumbing, and handyman work.
I found the furnace online, ordered the coil for $250.00 and replaced it myself.
I now have a warm home. Im sick of companies who try to scam us elderly and treat us as incompetent. I asked the owner why his repairman didnt even TRY to find a part?
He just mumbled. I stopped the monthly payments, and am researching this furnace on my own.
