Comedy Cellar
Comedy Cellar Review - Comedy club that sucks
Last week we tried to visit Comedy Cellar. We made a reservation for all the people and (it was 10 of us).
However after waiting in line for 20 minutes we still were not able to get into the club.
The week prior to the event we tried to make a reservation, but they informed us that they could only make it for a group of 8. Well.. no problem, we just made 2 reservations for 2 different names.
On the day of the event we were standing in line together and talking.
Comedy Cellar
person spotted this and said that they can not accommodate the group of 10.We mentioned that we have 2 reservations for 2 different names, however they did not want to hear that at all. We demanded to talk to their manager (I later found that his name was Chris Andersen).
After conversation with Chris it was clear to me that
Comedy Cellar
will not let us in. Even after 2 of the people left they didn't want to talk to us and sent us back to the end of the line (wait another 30 minutes). We simply said thank you and went to another party in the city.
I am wondering if such type of policy exists in all comedy clubs in NYC...
I think in the mean time we will be trying Boston Comedy Club, Caroline's on Broadway and Comic Strip Live. I really hope at least in those clubs people will be smarter and will not try to get rid of their clients.
I was really interested to see what Comedy Cellar had to offer, but after this rude incident I do not think that me or anyone of my friends will be interested to come back.

Hey ***, their website clearly states NO GROUPS LARGER THAN 8. It also states that NO SPLITTING OF RESERVATIONS TO GET AROUND THIS WILL BE TOLERATED.
It's all there in black and white. Just because you don't want to follow the rules, doesn't mean you can act like an ***.
