Verified Reviewer |Resolved: Read and Agree Contract - Beware
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
Some quick background; We have been online since 1998, for 26 years.
We have been very successful with our on-line presence. I have personally managed all our Google AdWords and our Google Analytics. And I have personally overseen the development and roll-out of the 7th generation/iteration of our website. I am also skilled with operating and maintaining our website with WordPress.
Suffice it to say, I consider myself fairly tech-savy.
Over the years we have used two or three remote SEO companies. Some have done what they promise, others have not. I thought it would be best to work with a local company, one I can meet eyeball-to-eyeball, here in Colorado Springs. I contacted and spoke with the owner; Chris Heidlebaugh, and he offered to review our website and send us suggestions and a proposal.
We also scheduled an in-person meeting, one week out. When he emailed me his Proposal, it was a contract with the option only to Agree and Read.
I attempted to print the Proposal Agreement so that I could read through it in paper format, before I agreed to it. I was unable to print the Proposal Agreement. I emailed Chris and explained what I wanted to do and asked if he could send it in a printable format.
His reply was, well, to say the least, quite indignant. He indicated that he did not understand my question and seemed insulted. I explained the problem I was having and that I did not want to Agree and Read, before I read the Proposal. He did not reply with any other format of his, dare I say Proposal, only a Agree and Read format.
There was a printer icon, but this was not clickable. So, I tried to print from my MacBook. Also, unsuccessful. Next, I tried one of the office PCs and same problem, the printer icon was not allowing me to print.
Finally, I forwarded the same contract to my son who is an accomplished IT professional, and he had issues printing as well.
I emailed Chris with my frustration and what I next received was a very scathing reply. To paraphrase, You are not tech literate and since all of our doings will be using electronic formats, I am cancelling our meeting and I do not want to do business with you. Wow! Is that how you treat a potential client, seeking your help?
Or is he covering up an attempt to get me to sign and Agree... to his proposal, before I can read it? Ive been burned and lied to before, but this takes the cake! I considered his final email as evidence that I dodged a bullet.
Thus, my search for a local, honest and reputable, SEO company shall continue. Read and Agree, beware.
