Rebuttal of 30% criticism

30 % profit is the LEAST ANY business will take; key word, business. Some take up to 90%; yes, they only pay 10% of what your gold is worth.

Coin Mart has been helpful to me when I am unsure of what I have and 2nd opinions always agree. I actually sell to a different shop, and at the end of my calculation I multiply by .7, yes, 70%, meaning that just as in your case, 30% to the house. Remember their overhead, insurance, rent, etc., etc.

Maybe try a block over and head south on 3rd Ave. I'm sure the "competition" will be comparable, cheaper venues a bit more competitive.

Ripped me off on my gold!

I visited The Coin Mart Jewelry in Chula Vista, California to sell some scrap gold I had. I took what I had in to them to have it purchased, After they weighed it, they told me I had $135 worth of gold.

I filled out some paperwork, they gave me a check for the amount, then I left.

After getting home, I look at the actual weight of the gold, and the spot price of gold that day/time I had went in.

The amount they gave me was almost 30% less than what I should have received!

I called back up to the store, faxed them a copy of my receipt, and the manager Kurt, was talking around in circles trying to give me some BS about why I had got the amount I did.

I think a company should make some profit, But 30% is outrageous to be making off people! He finally got so angry and was talking so loud, I could hardly get a word in, so I just hung up on him, figuring he probably was still yelling even after I hung the phone up!

He called me back after he cooled down and composed himself! I was gone when he did call back and decided that I did not want to deal with a unprofessional company like his and just wrote the experience off to bad service.

I would NEVER go back to deal with this company ever again! I should have listened to the other complaints that are online about the company! Kurt has a way of coming up with a BS rebutal after people post the experiences they had with either him or someone at the company! Check and other ratings, you will find that out!

If he treated people fairly upfront, people would not have any reason to leave negative comments about him nor his company.

You are totally off base, and I think a 30% markup is very reasonable. I try to charge more than that.
