30 % profit is the LEAST ANY business will take; key word, business. Some take up to 90%; yes, they only pay 10% of what your gold is worth. Coin Mart has been helpful to me when I am unsure of what I have and 2nd opinions always agree. I actually sell to a different shop, and at the end of my calculation I multiply by .7, yes, 70%, meaning that just as in your case, 30% to the house. I visited The Coin Mart Jewelry in Chula Vista, California to sell some scrap gold I had. I took what I had in to them to have it purchased, After they weighed it, they told me I had $135 worth of gold. I filled out some paperwork, they gave me a check for the amount, then I left.
