Cohen Grossman Attorneys At Law - Kevin Vorhis Cohen Grossman a weak attorney who missrepresented me
I contacted the Cohen Grossman Law firm at 350 N Lake Destiny Maitland, Florida 3275. I spoke to Mr. Grossman about my former employer not paying me my last two paychecks and how the department of labor failed to recover the full amount only enforcing the minimum wage law. He was sympathetic to take on my case and not charge me legal fees. My problems started when my case was assigned to attorney Kevin Vorhis at the firm. When I spoke to Kevin on the phone, he sounded like a real young guy who lacked confidence and experience. Kevin and his assistant Tiina Chapman never showed any concern about my case since; wages owed were about $1,700. There was always a disconnect with Kevin and Tiina. They lack any communication skills through, U.S mail, email or by phone keeping me up to date with my case. I was always the one calling and emailing and it sometimes take days to hear back. I would get excuses about being out sick or family emergency. Well, professional people have out of office reply emails and this would put my mind more at ease. The times I spoke to Kevin, he was not engaging by reassuring me he was fighting for me. I felt he was a weak person and I was telling him how to do his job and I did not think he knew what he was doing. I kept getting mixed messages from him and Tiina. Kevin told me he spoke to my former employer and he said, he did not know what he was talking about. I said, what do you mean? He had a visit from the department of labor and I refused to settle. Then he says, he was going to send a letter that we are suing him and now the amount doubled to $3,400 and he has to pay attorney feels. When I followed up with Tiina she said, the letter was not sent out and waiting for him to look at it. Kevin Lied. I spoke to Kevin later and he said he sent out a letter and it can take two weeks to process and says it becomes a negotiation process. I said, don't negotiate. He tried settle with the department of labor for $580 and I refused the check twice. So I took privet legal counsel where I can seek more damages. When I spoke to Tiina, the only thing they've done was send a letter out and they never responded. So, everything Kevin told me was a lie. They were never, aggressive, zealous advocates to their client's rights as the websites states and Kevin misrepresent himself in a matter that is associated with strong "A" personality attorneys working hard for their clients. Kevin told me he was not sure her could get my wages that were owed to me and it could take years. Again, a sign of weakness and confidence. Had my claim been much, much larger, he would been more aggressive getting my back wages. I called the law firm to speak to Mr. Grossman and asked to be reassigned to another attorney and quickly I got a letter they would not represent me.

I can only assume that they put the weakest link on the case because of the little return. I think attorney Grossman felt sorry for you and agreed to take your case and use it as a training session for the newbies.

I am pretty sure your employer knew that you were not going to get quality representation for any at all based on the low amount owed and that's why he/she decided to ride it out. Many people are educating themselves and become professional Pro Per and/or Pro Se for this very reason. I would honestly recommend spending some quality time at the law library and doing the case on your own in small claims or limited civil. You can purchase some books online that show you how to win your case in a limited civil and small claims.

I honestly believe that no one is going to fight for you the way you would fight for yourself. If you can control your anger and have good reading comprehension skills then you are no different than any attorney because after all the laws are already set and as long as you know what the law is then you can ask a judge to enforce them because at the end of the day, the judge must follow the law
