Club Melia - Total Scam
Club Melia - Total Scam - Image 2
Original review Mar 27, 2024

We were approached at our recent stay at Melia PC Wellness for a 1 hr presentation in return for a lobster & steak dinner on the beach. It turned out to be a half-day ultra-high pressure sales pitch to coerced us into signing onto their vacation Club Melia.

In a nutshell, they were so quick in taking our credit card and money, and we were given a small tablet to ready the 10 or so pages of the contract. To make matters worse, there were some pages on the contract you could not view until you "digitally" signed on the box.

We did not receive the contract in our email box until a few hours later after returning to our room. We then went through the whole contract in details and found a hidden clause which indicated that we can cancel the contract within 5-days from signing with written notice to Club Melia - which we exercised immediately.

From that point on, NO ONE responded or contacted us to confirm receipt of our notice of cancellation. We immediately contacted our credit card company and was told the transaction had already been processed, but that they would look into blocking it and all future transactions from Club Melia..

Take our advice and stay away from Club Melia.

Refund for Club Meliá Cancellation

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Feb 19, 2024

I was approached whilst on holiday at Paradisus Cancun to attend this presentation. The consultant that assisted us was Cynthia and she made the option to purchase into such an exclusive membership Circle Club Melia something that seems very worthwhile especially due to us loving to travel.

We signed up for the deal however upon further research came across very negative reviews about this membership and had a change of heart and wanted to cancel. as per contract we have a 5 day cooling off period, we cancelled after 3 days and were informed our membership will be cancelled and money returned in a few days. It's 10 days later and the funds have still not been returned and an additional amount taken off my credit card. I reached out to the consultant Cynthia to query my refund it seems she has blocked my number.

I have also followed up with Giselle Cuevas Burgos (she handled the contract signing remotely) who seems to be quite selective in what she responds to, she confirmed my membership is cancelled however does not confirm status of my refund or why additional funds were taken from my account.

This is completely unethical and improper business practice and i want resolution and my funds returned by Circle Club Melia, please refer for reference CRMX-31032. Can someone contact me to have this resolved as I will be taking legal action for this unethical behaviour

DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT fall for that stupid spiel about how great Club Melia and Cercle is. Expect worst customer service, you'll be compliantly ignored. I've been trying to get the authorization letter to pay off my contract for a month now. I still did not get it. Just pay extra for that free lobster dinner they offer you and safe your money and hassle to deal with Melia.

Good afternoon,
My name is Silva Isayan and I was a guest at the Paradisus Los Cabos during 07/26/2023-07/30/2023.
We were there as part of a wedding group.
I am having a very hard time gathering my thoughts to compose this email and don't know where to begin...
This trip was our first time to Los Cabos and most likely will be my last because of the experience I have lived in your hotel.
I have been travelling to Mexico for the past 19 years and often 2-3 time a year and I have never experienced what I have experienced during my stay at your place.
I have never dealt with so many carless, incompetent groups of people that have no regards for people or their guests.
Starting from customer service, cleaning services and etc.
I am very courteous and generous person.

You are more than welcome to chat with your concierge Erick and his supervisor Victor. Your guest services ladies were surprised that regardless what I went through, I found a ring and turned it in...
My personal property with valuables were stolen on 07/28/2023 from the pool/bar area. It was most likely stolen by one of your employees judging by the transactions when they tried to use my credit cards. One of the transactions was at OXXO and others were in a store inside Walmart.

I am beyond disturbed and heartbroken. Aside from the valuables, I had a prayer written by my grandfather who is 93 years old and no longer can recognize us. I can never replace that. It means nothing to the person that stole it but it means the world to me.

I am suspecting that this happened during a commotion by the pool where some of our group was approached, harassed for smoking and eating multiple times. Now I can't help but to think that this was all a set up... If you are that proficient, then you should also monitor your stuff and watch what they are doing. We were following leads by your own employees including Javier who just took our tips multiple times tell as it's ok to smoke, bring us food by the pool but would turn and send other and watch them approach us and repeated same thing as Javier.

They would also say it was ok to do so when we tipped. We tipped more than $500 the first night. I am requesting surveillance footage of that day since I am told there are cameras everywhere and I have every right to do so. This did not happen outside, this happened on your property and premises hence, the hotel should be responsible.
Up on reporting the incident, your staff is not equipped or capable of handling a claim or they just simply don't care.

I regret that I did not get the name of the lady that was there that night. She was the one that showed concern and tried to go downstairs to see if one of the transactions were done at the gift shop. Although it did seem surprising to them as it seems like this happens all the time. No one went over the form with me.

I was distressed and they were standing and watching. I had to wait for more than 30 minutes for the security to come and inspect my room at their request.
Your security is a joke.
I requested a copy of the incident report and I had to follow up more than 4 times to get a copy and when I got a copy, it was not even signed. What is this??? I had to make an argument and demand for them to provide a copy to me.

On the form I indicated that I did want to make a police report and upon picking up my report the day of my departure I was told well that was not done, more time is needed. How long of a time are we talking about when your guests are typically only there for a week or so. Why is this not a concerning matter.
I am your guest, I don't live in your county and don't know your rules. It's your obligation and responsibility to help your guest not mine to chase everyone around.
Now that I am bring this up, I would like you to know what we have experienced in other areas.
My fridge was never restocked.

(Note that I only used one beer so I am not talking about alcohol. I am referring to water, mineral water and ect.) My teas where never restocked. The coffee was only restocked one time.
I had to go to the lobby and request cleaning of my room as it was not being done.
We had a wedding on Saturday and had to be ready by 3:30. My room was not cleaned, I had no towels and my son had to stand in the shower for over 20-30 minutes until I, myself, had to go chase a cleaning crew try to explain what I needed as none of them understood what I was asking for because none of them spoke English.
Mind you, I called twice to the lobby notified them that I needed towels and still did not get it.

I had to go up again myself as the cleaning crew only gave me two, that's all they had.
When they finally came to clean, no Kleenex, no small hand towels, no face towels. Trash left at the balcony. (Not a trash by us, but most likely from the neighbors trash thrown to our area.)
I have tired calling room service at 11:30-12:00 am and no one pick up. I thought you had 24 hours room service.
Number of times, I had to pour my own coffee as it was close to the station.

Otherwise I would have to wait for a long time to be approached. I paid $5,000 for my trip and received worst service than a motel.
This is by far the worst experience.
We were there with a big group and some were returning guest, I am guaranteeing you that none of us will return and will never recommend anyone.

Not only to this hotel but the Melia circle as a result. I will never take that chance.
Regards,
Silva Isayan S

Beware Circle Club by Melia

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We originally stayed at Melia Punta Cana Beach

, but on day three our concierge invited us to Palma Real for breakfast and to show us around another Melia property. Why not, what a huge mistake, it turned out to be six hours of high pressure sales, promise after promise of how much we would save by joining Melia Circle.

They offered us free all-inclusive at the Home Resort, Palma Real, and if we stayed at a alternative Melia property the All- Inclusive we would apply only then,if we stayed there, it was way cheaper than any other booking method, we could cancel at anytime, etc etc. We eventually gave in just to get away from a totally wasted day of vacation and to escape the 6 hours of *** knowing we would be able to cancel if we needed. After signing the contract they had a sort of video confirmation but at all times the fine print was just quickly scrolled past so we had no chance to read it. So it turns out All- Inclusive is not included and adding it to the amount we paid makes it ridiculously expensive and far more than any other booking website!

We could not cancel either as promised to us, just another lie and con.

An absolute scam and shame on Melia for allowing guests on the property to get conned and scammed buy lie upon lie. The members contact centre has NOT replied to my numerous emails either, they surely must be aware that they scam and con people and Melia agrees with this policy.

BEWARE!!!

I finished paying off my timeshare long ago. I have been told that I need to keep paying the maintenance fee for 50 years. My maintenance fee is $870 and gives me only $100 off of the price of staying at the resort compared to a non-member. I lose $770 per year until I die. Has anybody just stopped paying the maintenance fee and did they come after you for collections? That is the only reason I have continued paying it...as Club Melia is the biggest ripoff in the world...

Don't fall into buying Memebership from them! Melia/Circle or whatever they now call it!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Mar 20, 2023

Like some of you here, I am also told many sweet lies about the benefits of the membership, the free certificate, all perks to by a Melia membership.

I bought into this program on Vov, 2022 on our last day of our trip into the Los Cabos hotel in Mexico that we purchased via Costco!

Long story short our sliver Melia or Blue circle membership is nothing but a big lie and scam.

and all those Red, back are no difference!

we were also given a certificate of stay at one of the 4 resorts they have. of course there's a black out dates!

and when i called the cost was $4600 to be able o go there for 7 night with all the point and options we have or need to purchase upfront!

food and beverage all inclusive $210 per person per day! and kids $105 per kid per day!

you better off freely chose where to go for vacation and not just 4 properties.

and cost is much lower since you are not paying for 30 years of worthless membership that.

don't get me started on Melia hotel and cost.. you need to pay $$$$ and point are only good for 20% discount.

Update,

After calling them over 10 times, sending the cancelation request 4 times and making a complaint on BBB. Here is what they responded back.

We cannot respond to your cancellation request and even more so with a refund, since Meliá has not violated the terms and conditions of the contract.

You are within your right to proceed any way you deem necessary but we like to offer you alternatives to the cancelation below. To transfer ore sell your membership see instructions underneath.

To transfer your membership, we require the members and the buyer to sign and certify a transfer form and cover a transfer fee of 10% of the purchase price. If you are transferring your membership to a first-degree relative, we can waive this fee (proof of relationship will be required). However, if the above is not a feasible alternative, considering the current situation, many of our members have let timeshare brokers handle the sales process, such as:

Timeshares Only

RED WEEK

Express Closing Firm, LLC,

Timeshare Closing Services.

It is important to let you know that, Melia does not have any relationship with these companies, this is not a recommendation, but we know of some members that have done business very successfully, with the above-mentioned companies.

Kind regards,

Wow...

now all of the sudden this is timeshare... i am surprised Shocked

As far as BBB complain, they responded by saying we will reach out to you!

I guess the response will be the same on BBB as well if and when they do reach out!

Dear Melia Team,

We returned home from your hotel in Tenerife in Alcala and stayed in Red Level as in previous years, and I must say we were more than disappointed.

This was our 7th year of returning with our friends Stephen & Sonya Cook and we couldnt wait to return, I will start by saying the staff in the hotel as usual were delightful, but the standard of Red Level was just awful.

I will start by saying we had hoped that the rooms would have been refurbished and the lighting improved in the rooms, sadly not.

As in previous years we have the Bali beds and it was always a wonderful experience, i.e. bottle of Cava each day, fruit coming round throughout the day, cold flannels, cleaning of sun glasses, just all the things that made Red Level special, this year one pathetic fruit on the stick and that was all.

The bathroom, in previous years we had Clarins shower gel, body lotion etc, this year it was replaced with some inferior product which was just awful, so much so that I went to the local chemist to buy shower gel and body lotion.

The breakfast, we went to Red Level for the first two days which we found extremely poor, the selection of fruit was a joke and they never seemed to replenish anything, after that we went to the main restaurant and the difference was enormous, great selection of fruit, being replenished the whole time and the whole selection for breakfast was just so far superior.

We paid £5825.71 to stay in Red Level and quite honestly, we should have stayed in the main hotel and saved about £2000,

We are so disappointed and cannot believe the difference to this year to previous years, paying the extra for Red Level and being returning guests, I would have thought that the Melia hotel would have done a lot more for us.

Regards

Valerie & Harold Baruch
