Contract fraud

Clay Cooley Volkswagon sold me a car on May 31, 2019 and the sales agreement included their obligation to pay me for the last lease payment on my leased vehicle as an incentive to buy their car. They have refused to honor their agreement and have never issued me a check and continue to give me various excuses why they can’t pay me.

I am convinced this was a fraudulent inducement to purchase a car from them.

DO NOT TRUST THEM. I am contacting the Texas Attorney General to bring an action against them.

Lied too on lease return and new lease

I had a 2016 Jetta that I had 20K mileage over the lease. So I didn't want to deal with the dealership with the lease return and decided to contact Volkswagen credit directly to purchase the vehicle, so that I wouldn't have to pay the 20k mileage overage cost.

I secure the loan through VW credit for the purchase and I get a call from Travis the leasing manager at Clay Cooley VW Richardson. He says that I will have to pay the TT&L straight from my pocket if I purchase through VW credit. So I go to the dealership to execute the loan and roll in the TT&L. When I show up he is eager to show me a new lease, I told him I came to purchase and he claimed that If I lease another vehicle I would owe nothing on the old lease.

So since this was the reason I was going to purchase the vehicle to avoid the mileage charge on the old lease I went ahead and signed up for a new lease and I left happy.

Well surprise, I received an letter in the mail 326**** that I owe $5K for mileage charge from old lease, I called VW credit and they claimed they don't do what I explained the dealership described. I call Travis the same day and he lied to me and claimed that no he only was talking about my last payment not any lease return charges. It makes me sick to my stomach and very angry that I was taken advantage of. I should have know better because when they typed up the new lease for the new car they put that my annual mileage was 5,000 per year and I had to have them correct and make it 15,000 miles per year.

If you use this dealership you better have every single item in writing.

It is a shame that these guys lived up to the old cliché of Car Sales are crooks. If you find a good dealer and sales person keep going back because they are few and far between.

Horrible

Beyond dissatisfied with the services I received from Clay Cooley Volkswagen dealership in Richardson Texas. I was assisted by a salesperson by the name of Tracy who was simply just doing his job and assisted me with a vehicle.

I was interested in a 2014 Infiniti Q50 premium which they had the net sale price at $24,673.01 with 24,000 miles and $3,000.00 down. They sent my application up and I provided them the down payment as well as proof of income and everything else that goes with the “buying a vehicle” process. I got approved by Santander. I gave them $2,000.00 down and provided them the last $1,000.00 the next day.

Now when I gave them the final $1,000.00 I was told by 3 other associates in the business office that I can leave with my vehicle. I signed all the documents within my contract. I was never provided a copy of my contract nor did they let me leave with the vehicle. Jeffrey Manning who stated he was the “finance manager” said they couldn’t give me the vehicle even though I paid them and got approved because they had to wait for the bank to fund them their money for the car.

Days went by and the dealership kept saying they were waiting for employment verification. Mind you they already Stated that they verified my employment. I provided them W2s and pay stubs. The next day I called the finance company which they didn’t want to provide the phone number to me , and asked what was the hold up.

The finance company stated the dealership had my vehicle mileage wrong and listed it at a higher value which it was only worth $19,000.00 it had 56,000 miles. So of course I had to go back in and sign the new contract. When I went in to sign the new contract I specifically asked Jeff why did I need to come back in (at this time I already knew why but I just wanted to see if he would be honest) Jeff stated “ Looks like the loan company is on your side and decided to lower your monthly payments like you wanted” I told him the information I was given about the mileage and his response was “ Well if you knew why did you ask” At that point I realized how unprofessional they were. The loan company received my contract 2days later which would be today I called the loan company and asked if they received my updated contract the agent stated they have received it but it looks like my credit app wasn’t dated, the extended warranty had to be updated and the dealership sent my income up to the high risk team.

At this point I was upset because 1 they should of looked over all the documents within the contract before it got sent to the loan department 2 I provided them everything they needed for my income even my managers number. I’m an independent Catastrophe Adjuster so for those who are familiar with that and our income you know we make BIG MONEY just seems like the finance team wasn’t believing what I made so I was being interrogated and belittled the whole time just because of my income. The finance manager Tray Taylor was also beyond disrespectful and did not handle the situation any better he also called and asked me multiple questions regarding my income I explained to him I have provided that all to the loan company he stated” Well your income is not adding up there’s too much confusion but I will just let the loan department handle you” After that conversation with him I called back and just told him to cancel everything and give me my money back. As I was trying to express my issue with him he engines to talk over and told me to come get my money.

My uncle and myself went up to the dealership and I told them the card I used for the first $2,000.00 I closed the account after their payment was finalized so they would have to fund me a different way they kept insisting to put it on that card I told the, that’s impossible cause I won’t receive it then as we were discussing that Jeff Manning shouted out “ Oh yea we have you recorded impersonating a KIM from Santander stating you are suppose to have your contract and to give me the vehicle” he also stated that they have called law enforcement who would be appearing shortly. right then and there I knew they were doing fishy business. I told him he was lying because I never called impersonating anyone and I also told him I would wait for the law enforcement he said ok. As I waited time was going past I just decided to call the police myself because at this point they were slandering my character.

The officers arrived 5mins later and as I was speaking to the officer we came to the conclusion the management in finance at clay Cooley Richardson location was lying about even calling the police so now I’m asking where’s the recording. The officers were beyond helpful and on my side the entire time and even offered me a ride home. All I wanted was a vehicle I had everything they needed and still have not received my $3,000.00. Everyone was telling me not to deal with this dealership but I gave them a chance and they *** me over completely.

They are beyond unprofessional and disrespectful. Below is the end of an argument that was taking place between the finance manager tray taylor and my uncle who was simply trying to calm the matter down as he stated but Tray was again unprofessional and disrespectful even with potential customers around how sad

If you make "BIG MONEY" , why did you have to finance a measly $19,000- $25,000 on a used car through a sketchy finance company ?

I’m new to the “buying a car” process Me choosing to go through a finance company was my choice whether I make “big money” or not obviously. Still have other priorities. It wasnt the Finance company that was sketcy it was the dealership if you read the message.

Never Ending Games

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This first week of February, I found a great looking Certified Pre Owned '14 Jetta SE fully loaded package with the 1.8tsi. After negotiating for about 45 minutes with the sales guy, he finally agreed to bring the price from $13,000 out the door to $12,000 out the door, which means I got the "accessories" valued at $1,000 added on for free in the price.

This was still a bit high, but it was acceptable for me. I am a 20-year-old college student who goes to school full time and I work about 40+hours a week. I am a first-time buyer and haven't started paying on my student loans, so my credit is extremely low/nonexistent. After I tried financing through the dealership at 9%, which is what my credit union told me they could do, they processed my application and returned my call with 27% interest, which he wouldn't tell me over the phone, I had to hand calculate the interest, 72 months with $2500 down and $290 a month payments...

I told them that this was complete *** that I would go and settle for external financing. He said that this was an excellent situation for a first-time buyer and that it happens to all first-time buyers. I'm assuming he thought I was just an ignorant college kid and would agree upon his terms. Regardless, I went to the bank and got approved for this car.

The next day, I let him know that to finalize the approval, the bank needed to see the financing options sheet so they could get me my loan. The *** sends over the sales sheet that had the old $13,000 price on it. I called him and asked if he had mistakenly sent over the wrong price sheet and then asked him to send over the new sheet on which we had negotiated on previously. He said that he couldn't do $12,000 since I was using external financing, which is a lie, as he said regardless of financing in-house or at my bank, we shook on $12,000.

My guess is that since I was getting the loan through my bank, he jacked the price back up since he wouldn't be getting a kickback anymore. After calling the sales manager and requesting the updated sales sheet over, he said he wouldn't since I won't finance through them. After a few days passed, the sales guy calls me back and asks when I am going to come in and seal the deal. I told him I wouldn't be doing a thing until he sent over the price we agreed on.

He then proceeded to blow smoke up my *** and tell me that I knew it was a good price for the car and that it was the best car in the area and this, that and the other. Went to Bobby Beck's in Lewisville and talked with a sales guy who was extremely helpful and not a *** trying to play any games with me or force me into signing right away.

I will be picking up my new ride from him soon. Wouldn't do business with Clay Cooley VW of Richardson if my life depended on it after such poor tactics, trying to make a quick buck on a young guy by using sneaky tactics.

Clay Cooley - Volkswagen Car Review

Their prices are way way too high. They tried to sell me a 2016 jetta at a price that is higher than the 2017 at the same trim level.

When I showed them a lower price from another dealership, they became very angry at me and just bad mothed the other dealership. Please look around before going to Clay Cooley of Richardson. There is a difference between making a fair profit and being greedy.

That is a lesson Clay Cooley of Richardson really needs to learn if they want to survive. It is very disrespectful to treat customers as though they are ***.
