AI Highlights
  • - Bought a used vehicle from Toyota of Henderson.
  • - Oil loss is about 1 qt/200 miles with black smoke, and Ford and two shops diagnosed bad piston rings.

Made a hasty mistake and purchased a used vehicle from Toyota of Henderson. Upon driving the vehicle back from the dealership I noticed a large consumption of oil 1 QT /200 miles.

I also noticed the tailpipe was extremely black with periodic puffs of blue smoke. I took it to Ford dealership and they diagnosed the problem as pistons with bad rings. I subsequently called the dealership and their service department continued to say there was not a problem yet I continued to see a significant loss of oil and the oil was black as tar. I had two other auto shops concur with the same diagnosis.

It’s my ferment belief that this problem was well known by Toyota of Henderson and I became the buyer who didn’t scrutinize the vehicle properly since I trusted their reputation. Big MISTAKE. Toyota of Henderson is not organization organization of that has any ethical standards for a vehicle with this significant of a defect.

Their general manager said they don't even evaluate engine quality, so long as it stops and cranks it passes their quality check. Stay away and buy somewhere else.

Toyota of Henderson refuses to return deposit

AI Highlights
  • - They paid a $500 deposit for 2008 Camry at Toyota of Henderson.
  • - 2008 Camry was sold.
  • - 2009 Camry was offered for more; deposit wasn't refunded.

On Saturday 2-16-2008 We went to Toyota of Henderson, N.C. to purchase a New 2008 Toyota Camry XLE.

The Camry we wanted had been sold the night before. Toyota of Henderson said there was a like Camry at another dealer they could get the first of the week. We were to get it on Wednesday 2-20-2008. We paid a $500.00 deposit.

When we got home we learned from the internet that the 2009 Camry was available. We called early Monday morning to cancel the order for the 2008 and advised them not to get the 2008 Camry from another dealer. When we were working the deal on the 2008 Camry nothing was mentioned about 2009 being available. After we did not purchase the 2008, the 2009 Camry was offered for more money.

We did not want to put that amount in a Camry. Toyota Of Henderson said they have had a policy for 15 years that they do not return deposits and they were not going to give my $500.00 back. I feel that I should get my $500. deposit because I got nothing for it.

I informed them early Monday before they had any expense going after the Camry at another dealer.

Do not pay a deposit to Toyota of Henderson because it will be gone forever.

Selling 2008 Camry not telling 2009 Model is out

AI Highlights
  • - A $500 deposit was paid for a 2008 Toyota Camry.
  • - Pickup was at another dealer and 2009 Camrys were offered; a refund is requested.

On Saturday, 2-16-2008, We went to Toyota Of Henderson, Henderson North Carolina 27536 to purchase a New Toyota Camry. We agreed to purchase a 2008 Toyota Camry that was to be picked up at another dealership.

We were to pick it up on Wednesday 2-20-08. We saw on the internet that the 2009 Toyota Camry were already being offered for sale. We called as soon as they opened Monday morning, 2-18-2008, before they went to the trouble of picking up the vehicle and advised that we did not want the 2008 Camry. They never mentioned anything about the 2009 models being out, so we feel that we should be refunded our $500.00 dollar deposit because the 2008 was not the newer model.

I wish to file this as a complaint. Thank You Kenneth V.
