POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE !!!!! DISCRIMINATION
On 11.03.2016 I met Sondra Sutton at the town house she is renting out address 5111 NE 75th Ave Vancouver, WA 98662. The townhouse was extremely dirty inside, walls had nails, holes, paint needed to be retouched on all the walls and there was left over articles of debris and garbage left over from the previous tenant. Gold drapes on the wall and in the bathroom in one of the upstairs room, bathrooms and showers upstairs had pieces of debris left inside. Carpets needed shampooing, garage was not swept inside, light did not work in the garage door opener etc. I wrote her a $50 check to run our credit. I was reassured the place would be cleaned up before we moved in. Sondra was so oblivious to the fact that she thought the place had apparently been cleaned because I kept pointing out all the damage on the walls and things not being cleaned as I walk through the place. I specifically asked her before running my credit to let me know if it was a hard or soft credit pull. She called me a day later and said she was unable to run our credit because her computer was not working properly apparently she has 3 of them she mentioned. I feel her intent was to not even run the credit to begin with and to keep the $50 check for the processing fees because when she called me yesterday 11.05.2016 she still mentioned she did not run my credit with the check I paid her. When we spoke on Friday 11.04.2016 we agreed that when the place is cleaned up we would come down and sigh the lease and pay the $1500 deposit. When she called me yesterday 11.05.2016 she was saying I need the deposit or I will have to rent to someone else. I questioned her if the place was cleaned up and she said no. The agreement was to pay the deposit and walk through and pay the lease when the place is cleaned and finished. I pointed out to her that was not the agreement and she belittled me over the phone and insinuated that I don't have the funds to pay the deposit. I am extremely outraged about this experience. Sondra Sutton needs to practice business in an ethical manner as well as should always be prepared to answer tenant questions and not beat around the bush. Sondra Sutton in any way shape or form should not belittle customers over the phone and if she makes promises not to over promise and under deliver. The townhouse should have been cleaned up and ready to rent out before showing it. She should follow policy and run a credit check and check references before renting any properties. I cannot believe how unprofessional she is and how rude she is about questioning my income. I am extremely outraged about this situation. She always would say one thing and it turns out to be another. She as a business should have her policies and procedures which I know she did not follow because I have rented many places in the past and have never seen such unprofessionalism. She even had the nerve to tell me if the maintenance is not done on the town house by the time I move in the guy can work around me. Complete unprofessionalism and she claims to have been in business for 30 years what a joke! Apparently I’m not the only one who has had a bad experience with her and her poor business and non-ethical ways.
