Original review updated by user Dec 04, 2020
I drink this all the time..The picante... Somethings gone wrong.. 50% now has a bad metallic chemical taste where it is undrinkable..Ive had 4 different friends over and gave them 2 shot glasses..One of a normal and the other a bad...THEY cant even get past this taste...Tired of throwing my money away..Switched to Camaronazo brand...Same price..32 oz is 1.99. buy 2 .Same price as 64 oz Crapola....

User's recommendation: You'll find out soon enough if you get the bad stuff.

Bad product

I recently bought 2 / 64 oz. bottles of your regular clamato el original tomato cocktail at our large retailer food store, we use your product a lot, but when I opened it up and had a drink of it, it tasted awful, I smelled it and it smelled bad, and I opened the second bottle and it smelled bad also. here are the numbers that are on both bottles, 07 01 20 AF 11:40 BEST BY AUG 25 21 bar code on both bottles 0 14800 5**** I can send them back to you for Q.C. inspection or dump them out, I would appreciate it if you could reimburse me in some way as this product is not inexpensive, as I say otherwise we love it. Thank you

Metallic or chemical tasting / aftertaste and smell.

Clamato - Metallic or chemical tasting / aftertaste and smell.
Clamato - Metallic or chemical tasting / aftertaste and smell.
I have been buying your Clamato Picante beverage for years..No complaints...You have a new label for the same product and it is now undrinkable...It lists all the same ingredients but leaves behind a horrible and disgusting after taste.. I cant tell if its metallic or chemical.. Either way, it definitely tastes disgusting and is not consumable... You need to look into this.. i dont know how this got past your quality control checkers.. But its horrible.. Im hoping this is just a bad batch cause I need and love your original product but this new recipe is garbage...I had a taste test between 3 people here and they all agree...It even smells different straight out of the bottle..Not good !I.. left pic is original product..right is the new label / product that is bad tasting.

User's recommendation: I would not buy this new label product till it is fixed..

Several bad bottles this year.

It’s like they are spoiled or bad something. But you definitely know when you get a bad bottle. I have returned them after the first couple and made sure to buy a different date. But this is the only year this has ever happened. I have probably returned at least six bottles. We drink a couple a week so we definitely know the difference.

To check on info about Walmart's Clone

Clamato - To check on info about Walmart's Clone
I'm curios about a product called clam club that I purchased two weeks ago and when I went back to the store now, not only do any Walmart sell it but no one at Walmart seems to know it even existed. I love Clamato juice and I was curious as to whether Walmart has ever had permission to sell this spin-off of your product.

Clamato is not healthy

High Fructose Corn Syrup is the third ingredient in Clamato. So if you drink it with vodka your putting a double whammy on your liver. Do your own research on High Fructose Corn Syrup, but at the bottom is an except from Dr. Mercola to give you an idea. I love Bloody Casear's used to drink them all the time. In 2007 I suffered a near heart attach and received 2 stints. I was on high does of medication that started making me sick with serious side effects. Today I am totally prescription drug free and my health is great. It is mostly due to dietary changes and one of the biggest factors was cutting out sugar. I don't drink Clamato any longer. Also, I've contacted Mott's in the past asking why they don't experiment on removing it from their recipe. They only replied that there was no interest in changing the recipe. I guess it's because Americans and Canadians love sugar and want everything sweet. "Fructose, the most damaging type of sugar to your body, is particularly hard on your liver, much like alcohol: * Fructose must be 100 percent broken down by your liver. Glucose on the other hand only needs to be partially broken down before it can be utilized. * Fructose is metabolized directly into fat that gets stored in your liver and other internal organs and tissues as body fat, which leads to mitochondrial malfunction * Fructose produces toxic metabolites and superoxide free radicals when it is metabolized, that can lead to inflammation in your liver Fructose is a cheap form of sugar that’s found in thousands of food products and drinks. It’s often deliberately disguised by the use of many different names, so the only way to steer clear of it completely is to avoid eating processed foods."

I totally agree, HFCS is poison and will not eat or drink anything with it in it. I really like Clamato juice but gave it up a while ago when I found out HFCS is in it.

Just can't understand why they would ruin a great juice with poison. There is a brand out there, I saw it at a party and it tasted great but for the life of me can't find it but will keep trying.

Great value?

This brand is okay for generic use, but our store is substituting for pretty much everything. Some brand names simply cannot be replaced. The latest we noticed was Clamato. Cheap is good, but cheap quality isn't good and it appears walmart is going in that direction. For anyone interested, our store is in Norfolk, NE. This probably won't do any good as we are just one couple, but if any walmart execs should happen to read this, just remember you are never too big to be knocked down. In talking to other customers, we are not alone in our feelings.

What I like about walmart, is you have that choice to either get the cheap great value brand, or get the more expensive nicer brand. In some cases its worth the money to by the more expensive item, and in other cases, it doesn't make a difference.

So I like the idea that they offer the best of both worlds.

"generic" is so we can afford it, not use it a generically. (is that a word)? simply use clamato if you dont like the generic brand.its our right, use it wisely and stop crying.
