City Of Irving Animal Services

I adopted a 7yr old Fawn female Doberman at the Irving Animal Shelter on 04/06/10 at the cost of $75.00.I asked questions about her health and was told she's healthy and has had all her shots. I asked if she had been spayed and I was told no that I would have to get her spayed by 5/6/10. I called the next day to set up a spay surgery for her. I was told that since she is 7 yrs old I would need to have to have lab work done. That cost me $93.00 & found out that she has Heart Worms. Then had to pay another $24.00 to have her checked to see if she had been spayed. She has been spayed. I conntacted Animal Services & was told that they don't check animals that come in for Heart Worms, or if they are sick, or if they have been previously been spayed. Needless to say after taking this to the Manager, I'm getting my adoption fee back. But that's all they can do. So now I'm checking into treatments for her. She's a sweet dog. Don't Ever Adopt a Adult Dog from the City of Irving Animal Services. This is the 2nd dog that I have adopted from there & the first one had heart worms also.

You accept these risks when you adopt. Encouraging others not to adopt from Irving just means more unfortunate animals that happened to be abandoned in Irving will die.

You have a dog you love. Be grateful.
