I will call it CITY OF WORIES, NOT CITY OF HOPE
I advise patients to review the City Of Hope before you set an appointment with them.
I did set up for my wife an appointment with them over 3 months ago for a Mohs skin cancer surgery only.
Dr. Lauren Ferguson meet us and advised to follow many procedures, including radiation, scheduling hotels traveling, and many other unnecessary procedures, that we never requested.
They asked us to visit the doctors by phone and or by emails to do chiropractics etc. She fears us not to do Mohs surgery in favor of radiation, by saying that a cancer cell may not be removed by the surgery. She told my wife that your son and daughter should do the tests as well for cetain cancer that ren on my wife's family. Our son an doughter have their own primaty doctors and they know what to do.
My wife got an appointment 3 months in advance.
At the time of the appointment, I asked them for to do a Mohs surgery for basel skin cancer only, not radiation and other many procedures.
They plan us to see a radiation doctor. Do you know why? They plan you to go there around 20 times to drive 1500 miles to get your money. They do not want you to do Mohs surgery that cost much, much less, and better apparence compare to the red spot of dadiation, that looks different that the surgery.
Finally the surgery was the only chooise of my wife.
The surgeon looks to me a good doctor that may was able to do the job by saying that: "You will be just fine" and gave me another appointment after three days, but later on he changed his decision and canceled the appointment. I call him and his surgeon team at least 10 times and no one returned my call.
Finally, I call the patient-relation office, Miss. Abe and I told her all I presented above. I told Abe that I will not call your facility "City of Hope", but the City of Worries.
She told me that I will discuss your case with the authorities, and I let you know on Monday, but she never, called me.
Finally, they will charge my insurance and will get the money for the work that my wife never requested. My wife requested Mohs surgery for basel carcinoma and not to see Dr. L. Ferguson or a radiation doctor and others, we newer requested.
I will recommend to the patients: Think twice before you seeing this people Their goal is that you to see as many doctors as possible, get hotels, traveling deals and much more.
I'm 80 years old, I have visited the best hospitales in Chikago and surbans but never seen a place like this, never.
They gave us hard time and no solution, breaking nerves, spending time in trafic, pay for gas, pay toll etc. I call Dr. Hatem Halabi personally 7-8 times to return my call but he never returned.
I call his surgical team as well but they never returned a phone call to me for a week or so.
I understood that the main goal of City of Hope or the City of Worries is the money and not to cure my wife skin cancer. They failed to do the job we asked for.
