I worked for the city for 13 years, i performed 2 full time positions and multiple other positions and tasks while there, I went of a 3 day vacation and when I came back I was fired because they did not like me, is actually what I was told. There is a new city manager for the city and he did not want any of the staff that was existing when he came in he wanted to hire his old staff from another city, so they trumped up all the charges against me and made up a few just to add icing to the cake. I contacted several attorneys as well as the EEOC and was told because Florida is the right to work state, I did not have a leg to stand on. I do believe I was let go because I am an older woman with an ethic background!!!! while not being favored by the upper staff. The manager fired quite a few individuals before and a few after me, he wanted to restaff so guess what people lose their jobs all for the sake of someone ego. I also contacted the Commissioners about my vacation pay that I did not receive (311.46 hours) and never received any replies. They are standing behind this man with the golden forked tongue. So color me SCREWED.

Everyone has "an ethnic background" so stop with that nonsense. Hire an attorney conversant in wage and hour law and go from there.
