Verified Reviewer | Aurora, ColoradoExcessive speeding in community and Aurora Colorado Government (Mayor's Office, District Ward Representative & Police Department refuse to acknowledge the issue or take any corrective actions.
This email was sent to the City of Aurora CO mayors office, district ward rep., and police department.:
There is a systematic problem with excessive speeding on East 14th Avenue Street. The lawless actions and gross disregard for the neighborhood public safety are being conducted by commercial vehicles and privately owned cars.
It is a 24/7 endangerment that will soon result in a fatality. There are kids that play in the streets and senior citizens that walk the area. The commercial vehicles are mostly from the hotel being built at the corner of Peoria Street and East Colfax Avenue. In addition, vehicles are blasting loud music that are disturbing and denying residents the enjoyment of their property and quiet hours.
I would appreciate your department assistance on this issue.

To all parties-
There is an acknowledged constitutional right to be recognized and make an argument. Also, it is moral obligation that those empowered listen to what the general public have to say as taxpayers of selective salaries. The public has more TRUST when their voices are heard and recognized.
Before you read this, you might not like what I have to say as a Vietnam Era veteran. However, I will guarantee you that I will not silent on the issue.
It is apparent to conclude the copied and pasted email sent to APD seems to have been a documented academic exercise.
Equally, established is the fact that the gross disregard for a principal respond as you read has a quality of life impact for the neighborhood. It is important to look at rapport gap with further consideration.
Per phone call with the Aurora Police Department (APD ) dispatch I was directly told to take photos of the excessive speeding and reckless driving and report the dangerous to the company. The action proved to be fruitless and seems to have inflamed the situation.
The ordinances and statutes seem to be denied in select neighborhoods. We do not live next door to each other.
We do not have to like each other. But one thing is for sure the basic facts speaks for themselves.
There are no posted speed limit signs, speed bumps, police radar or warning signs to deter drivers' actions. The distance leaving Peoria Street turning onto East 14th Avenue ending at Scraton Street is a short distance.
My personal radar reader has indicated daily traveling top speeds at 70 miles per hour on the avenue.
The high rates of speed are being generated by private vehicles, commercial trucks, heavy equipment operators. On October 15, 2020 a Hillen Company driver high speed driving was observed by other residents that stated he would report the issue to APD.
For government officials to focus their attention on selective aspects while appearing to air the problems of people's through the media they actually need to carefully decide what constitutes neighborhood issues they consider worthy.
Any reasonable veteran or person of good will passionately agree that to protect their family lives compels them to address this matter at every level.
