I pissed!

AI Highlights
  • - Last-minute hotel changes caused airport confusion and travel trouble.
  • - No daily testing on the bus; illness described as pneumonia; avoid this tour.

The CIE IRISH CLASSIC Tour we just got off of was the vacation in *** They changed hotels at the last minute but failed to notify anyone so we went to the wrong hotel from the airport. That caused a whole new set of problems.

They gave us bad directions and my husband and I pulled our suitcases up and down hills in very cold windy weather finally returning to the same hotel where they said it was impossible to get a taxie in Dublin during rush hour. Then COVID went through our bus like a wildfire, no daily testing, actually no testing! We spent a lot of money taking this tour and the biggest takeaway for me is COVID pneumonia!

I would recommend people avoid these tours like their life depended on it, because it just might! I am sick and and have never been this sick in my life!

User's recommendation: Run don’t walk away from these tour busses! Save your money for a private tour!

Horrible Customer Service for a CIE Reservation 2022

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
AI Highlights
  • - There were long hold times to reach USA Customer Service/Sales.
  • - The rep had little knowledge of trips and could not answer questions about Ireland.

11 May 2022

I could not get through to your Customer Service/Sales Department (USA). I had to wait on the phone for close to 1 hour each time I called.

When I finally got through to a CIE Representative, the customer service was extremely poor. This person did not have any knowledge of the trips nor did this person help answer my questions for my upcoming trip to Ireland.

User's recommendation: Poor customer service.

Terrible experience - do not recommend booking with CIE

AI Highlights
  • - The booking was made before the pandemic and no refund was offered.
  • - Over three years, I was asked to rebook with extra costs as credits changed.

Booked before the pandemic and was not offered any refund but rather was asked many times over the following 3 years to rebook with an additional cost each time. Worked with a travel agent and even they could not get answers on why credit on account was changing.

100% believe this is all a scam unfortunately.

Avoid booking with them. 0/10 do not recommend

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Do not give them any of your money - you will not see anything

Will not refund on cancelled tours

AI Highlights
  • - Contracted with CIE Tours via Affordable Tours to Ireland.
  • - CIE cancelled in 2020 and 2021.
  • - Refunds denied; both say the other handles it.

Still not resolved. BBB is involved but CIE will not budge.

Have requested my credit card co. to intervene and awaiting a reply.

The 2 options offered by CIE are not acceptable. We did not receive what we contracted for so we should be refunded fully.

Original review May 13, 2021

Contracted with CIE tours thru Affordable tours for a trip to Ireland. CIE cancelled in 2020 due to Covid.

We opted to go in 2021 and they cancelled again. We have tried to get OUR money back and they refuse. I have argued with both companies several times via phone and emails.

They both say I have to contact the other. It's a Catch 22 I'm caught up in.
