Review about House Safety
One of the worst builders gave me a $200k
worth of house for the payment of $850k
house they ignored complains on warranty claims after they get paid. Don't care for your families safety even tough my complain was safety related and somebody could have died no response so I had to pay almost $50k between year 1 to year 4.
Custom Home Builders A Scam!
I have no idea who put the $400 loss up there, but re-water proofing the house was over $7,000 alone. I put out over $35,000 before I decided to give the house to Fannie Mae and stop bleeding money.
That was when I discovered the entire east side of the house had mold growing under the dry wall and between the siding. There were places insulation was non existent. I hired a Structural Engineer and his report showed many more problems I had not even discovered.
I took a $25,000 check to re-coup my losses and not wade through this in court. But I still have thousands of photos, reports, receipts, and videos to prove how inept these builders were.
Choice Homes was everything they claim not to be, and what they and their website claim to be is bogus and misleading. They lost their insurance in the third month of building, then everything stopped and they stopped all communication. Two months + later they started again but left the customer with thousands of dollars in interest fees from the building loan....charged when they weren't building! They double billed and outright lied about charges; saying they had to "bore under Pacific Street" to hook up the water and charged an extra $800+!!! After hearing this several times, proof was given to them from the county and MUD that these claims and charges were outright false.
Three years later, having paid to have the home RE-waterproofed (flooding) because neither Choice nor their waterproofing company would honor their warranties, having the peeling paint scrapped off and put on again...this time with a PRIMER (duh!), having the sump pump replaced twice, and the yard RE-graded and sodded three times, having the correct exhaust vent put in over the oven ( a used one at half the power needed was put in behind the woodwork), having windows, patio doors and rotting woodwork fixed because they "forgot" to put in weather stripping and didn't hang things plumb.....now the siding needs to be RE-done as it was installed incorrectly and the insulation was also ruined by the gaps and leaks. Let's not forget this month faulty wiring had to be replaced and brought up to code so the fuses would stop blowing and sparking.
There is a lot more. The BBB was a joke, the insurance settlement doesn't even cover the first year of repairs, so a lawsuit will be filed.
CHOOSING Choice Homes (and believing they knew what they were doing and that they had expertise and good morals) was the WORST CHOICE of my life.

What ended up being the wiring problem and who did it
Frazier Company. Which from what I have been able to find out has been a great company for almost 80 years. However the original owners grandson was taking over (Nate) and this guy was a 'buddy' of my contractor. It was right after the housing market crashed so he changed a lot of his regular contractors and used high school friends.
Accroding to local Code, the major appliances should have had their own lines (dedicated) because of the big 'draw' of power. Well if I used a toaster my refridge would go out. If I ran the dishwasher the microwave blew. They had piggy backed all of the lines! The kitchen was a mess! I tried to complain to the city but the 'Inspectors' are 'independent contractors' and by law we can't sue the city. So you can bribe the contractors....or you can get a lazy one. No matter how long the inspection takes at the different stages of building, he is only paid a flat fee ($100) at the time. So do 8 houses in 1 day and earn $800. To get an inspectors license is so easy a high school drop out can do it in a week.
The whole thing is a racket. If you have an honest general contractor they catch most of this and don't take short cuts.
Also toward they end of building they were 5 months behind, and instead of putting electrical and cable outlets up high where it had been marked on the plans and on the studs/dry wall...they just threw them near the floor board. This mean hiring another contractor to move the lines after moving in and discovering when I hung my brand new HD flat screens...that the cable and electrical wires were swining in the air for 3 feet. My cats and grandkids loved it. Grrrrr
3 Lawyers in the first year and most of their sub contractors had gone out of business. They refused to make repairs. I could go on and on but I will never build another new home or trust a contractor again. :(
Well i have sub contracted for a company that did work for them and i cant believe they are still building. Ive had to deal with that jason and him wanting stuff done at his house and telling my buddy to add it to another house bid.
From what i can see they try to knock out the houses like they are a cracker jack house and they have so many trades rushing and working on top of eachother i dont see how anything gets done right.
Well at least its not just me that feels this way. If you dont mind me asking when did you build and what did you think of jason and chad.
