Refused to offer a full refund due to situation changing. Mother was diagnosed with cancer and unable to go on holiday, and doctors advised not to travel.

Company gave partial refund which is not enough considering the overall cost of the holiday.

Law states that if the holiday was booked well in advance which this was and your situation changes, and have been advised not to travel by a healthcare professional then a full refund should be given. This has not happened!

Please see the trust pilot review of Choice Cottages which refers to the awful service we received from them! Booked a week at Poyers Farm for just under £4000!!

Choice cottages were rude and would not reply to our email or resolve ANY issues during our stay there.

We travelled to their office on our last day to be confronted with the most bizarre behaviour from the owner who would only speak to us on the street outside and have them responded to our review that we were nightmare guests!! shocking!!!

After being ignored by Choice Cottages for so long, and still not knowing if the booking had even been cancelled I contacted the owners of the property direct. They very kindly got in touch with CC (seemingly with no communication problem at all) and requested that they refund the payment.And they did!5* for the owners but zero for Choice Cottages, who still have not explained why they ignored so many attempts by me to resolve the problem.

Choice Cottages have now completely ignored five emails I have sent them regarding a holiday cancellation request.

Their 'Terms and Conditions' state that I will only get a refund if they can re-let the property but as this is an extremely popular property and always booked up well in advance it would have been a near certainty that I would get that refund.

However, they now no longer act for the owners and therefore will not re-advertise which means that they cannot adhere to their own terms and conditions that state they will 'take all reasonable steps to re-let the property'.

Whether you agree that I should receive some compensation or not, the company's apparent policy of 'ignore them until they go away' should serve as a warning to anyone considering booking a holiday with them.

Under the circumstances I could go ahead and take the holiday, which has been paid for in advance (£1,669.50) but I do not even know if they have cancelled the booking or not. They just won't talk to me.

Horrible experience

We have had a horrible experience. They cancelled our booking, then asked us to rebook, with extra charges though we have been asking for a refund.

They have been ignoring all emails and messages. Then they had the cheek to ask us to try to get a refund from the insurance even though they themselves cancelled our booking.

A real shame, because we book holidays in those places every year. Luckily there are honest reputable agencies that we have used for many years.

This is the first time seeing such sharp practices.

CC will do well to be fair to their customers. They might be gaining a few pounds now, but reputation is difficult to build back.

Booked what we thought was a high end holiday let through Choice Cottages and paid a lot of money the house was in need of refurbishment and not up to standard. Choice cottages are very happy to take your money when we complained they did not acknowledge any emails and photos sent after ringing them they were not bothered. Unprofessional and uncaring company avoid at all costs.

Incorrect descriptions used on website - ignoring complaints

Having stayed at one of their cottages, exceptionally poor quality, I logged a complaint to Choice Cottages and followed this up with several phone calls and further emails, all emails have been ignored, when calling they always deny that they know anything about the complaint or that the person meant to be dealing with it is not on site.

I've never heard back from the original complaint.

DO NOT EVERY BOOK A COTTAGE THROUGH THIS COMPANY. They offer zero after service, ignore any complaints and their web site is a total lie, the description is a least a couple of years out of date.

I totally agree. These people do not care about guests at all.

They just want your money.

Once the holiday is paid for, they are not intereted in you at all and will give you the time of day and ignore any contact from you. AVOID CHOICE COTTAGES AT ALL COSTS

I had zero response from them after lodging a complaint via email and phone. Will never use this company again

Choice Cottages - Croyde Sands 2

Whatever you do, don't book this cottage, on the website it claims that it has "undergone substantial renovation and been totally redecorated and furnished". Sadly not true, seating too dirty to sit on, paint peeling off the walls and windows.

A lot of things either not working or falling apart. Don't book this place or believe what you read on this website.

The place is not looked after, not probably cleaned for our arrival, dirty tissues and used plasters on the floor, a hob and over you would not wish to use, basically filthy. We left after 4 days, filed a complaint but still waiting for any response from the owner or Choice Cottages and that was now over 30 days ago.

How can this company get away with such terrible standards. The house was nothing like the images on the website.

The house was very, shabby, worn and tired. Choice Cottages Braunton should be avoided at all costs.

They were very nice until I paid. When I complained, they did not want to know.

Choice Cottages are well known for taking shabby run down holiday homes onto their books that the other booking agents do not want to market. Beware!
