My daughter attended Chesterbrook Academy in Columbia, SC from March 2024 to February 2025. I helped the school partner with MCCYN to get the assistance through the military.

I have confirmed that the school received the refunds for tuition from December 2024 and January 2025 and have not yet submitted the form needed for February 2025. My daughter left the school at the end of February and when I called at the beginning of March to confirm how the money being refunded back to them would be handled, they said it would be sent to me by mailing a check once they got the money. Since that phone call, I have received no check and every time I have called the only person that can help with finance questions, the principal Jessica, is conveniently not available or not there. I have left a message for her to call me back every time and have received.

No call back. She has also not responded to several emails over the last 2 1/2 months.

I believe they also owe us the original deposit back as well.

I need someone to reach out to me as soon as possible to get this matter resolved. Thank you.

$1500

Preferred solution: The money paid to Chesterbrooke as a fee assistance refund that I’m owed returned to me.

That’s fine if that’s the case. It still doesn’t solve my main concern about the roughly $1500 of back pay they should be owing me as part of fee assistance being refunded back to me. The principal has completely avoided and ignored my calls and emails.

SC Dept Social Services handles daycare/early childcare issues. One of the offices is in Columbia at 1535 Confederate Ave.

Phone # is online. (this site doesn’t permit).

Maybe call one last time and tell/leave message of your intentions to go in person. If I didn’t hear by close of business Tuesday, I’d call the department Wednesday.

It is an annual registration FEE not deposit. Stated as such on their site.

A deposit is something above the usual costs collected and only applied if there are damages (hotel/auto rental) or someone skips out on a contractual obligation. (apartment lease, gym membership etc.). You get a deposit back. In your case neither apply.

They allow you to break the contract penalty free as long as four weeks written notice is given. That fee is for registration processing at annual enrollment.
