I cashed a check of 17,500 at a checksmart location in N Canton 2/11/2020 and was informed yes I could cash my check. I asked how much it would cost to cash a check in the amount of 17,500 and was told she would let me know. She had to call her manager who called another manager to verify the amount to cash. I was never given a fee percentage during the entire transaction even when asking several times. It was close to closing time and felt the entire transaction was rushed and was given I dont know answers and I think so as well as discussions regarding coming back to do my taxes and what kind of work I did to generate businesss I assume, however I feel during this time it should have been used to address the questions I had to be given a chance to continue with this transaction or to decline the transaction. And she was asking questions regarding my personal information. During this entire transaction I explained to her it was a settlement check from my divorce and I no longer had a bank account due to signing divorce papers that day and our maritime accounts were to be dissolved and I need the cash for moving expenses today 2/12/2020 and deposit on my new residence. After already feeling rushed she began to tell me they didnt have it all in cash and this was an huge concern for me because I needed the check to be cashed and received in cash. I asked her if I could withdrawal the money on the card and was given and answer if I dont know. I asked how much would be on the card and also was given an I dont know answer as she was asking her co worker to go and grab what cash they had left for the day. During this entire transaction I kept asking questions that would give me a direct answer to how to access my funds, how much cash I was being given and how much the check cashing fee would be and all of which were not answered. She kept talking about things no Ben relevant to this transaction and asking me to come back and have her do my taxes about my online buisness and if I had a EIN number how my customers paid me and mobile banking information. Non of which had any relevancy to the transaction at hand. Honestly I feel this was a tactic to divert my attention to the keep me from asking or demanding the questions I had already asked several times. My 15 year old daughter was also with me and noticed she didnt answer my questions directly. At the end of this transactions she hurriedly handed me two cards which she could not give me any information about as to how I can with drawl my funds if it can be transferred to a bank which I had already risk her several times I did not have and if I could use it at atms to get the full amount but she did tell me I could come into check smart for free and with drawl in the amount of 100$. She handed me two cards that I had no idea how to use or if I could get my cash from and informed me I could only set one card up I. My name per email. She then told me one card was loaded with 5,000 and the other card 5,600 I believe and the. The coworker quickly counted 5,000 in cash. I asked her where the rest was and this is when I was finally handed a recipet that showed the fee at 10% which totaled $1750 in which I said I would never have cashed my check had I know the fee was 10 percent total. She said the transaction was complete and it was becasue I was holding the receipt. She also handed me two cards I had no idea what to do with and I reluctantly left Knowing I would never had oaid that fee and would have waited until the next day to cash it at the presenting bank. I honestly fee I was taken advantage of since I had shared the need to cash this check out right. And I needed the funds first thing in the morning. I trusted the employee to be honest and knowledgeable about her job and the have the details for the cards that this company uses in lieu of cash and also when I called on the phone prior to coming to the Location I informed the employee of my check and why I received it and the amount (making sure to say it a few times so she understood the amount I was requesting in cash) and was told as long as I have supporting documentation she was able to cash it with no problem and would have me right in and out when I got there. I asked what the fee was to cash a check so large and was told not much and she would know better when I got these and she verified the check (which in hind sight doesnt make any sense if 10% is the fee for all check cashing then that is a straight forward answer an needs no verification of the check to inform me of). During the transaction I kept feeling uneasy and her chatter was making me uncomfortable as I just wanted answers to my questions . I called and left a message today to return my call and have not heard from anyone. I am in the process of moving and time slipped away from me and now they are closed without one word from them. So I had no choice but to use some of the cash I received for my moving exspenses today and had to call insight to get information regarding my funds on these cards and how i receive or get my funds in cash jsut to be informed I can go into a bank but to with drawl the funds I am going to be charged a 3 percent fee for each card and I am now paying another fee to get my cash. Its a 500 limit per day and atm fee involved to withdrawal cash and 100 a day for free from cash smart And any thing over that is a few is absurd!!!!! I feel I was mislead and it was underhanded to keep pertinent Information from me during the transaction and intentionally was diverting my attention with chatter until she was able to complete the transaction and force to me accept the terms. I am requesting that the entire 10% fee be refunded to me since I was not given the option. To decline such a rediculous amount for a check cashing fee and had if given the opportunity declined give $1,750 to cashsmart to have me only 5,000 in cash and two cards that the employee had no knowledge to inform of how to use or if I could redeem them for 100 % cash value which also wound have allowed me the choice to decide if I was willing to take most of my check in cards With not knowing how to even access 10,600 of my money which I had been told would be in cash. I am extremely upset and never would have agreed to this transaction if given all the proper feats Ike it even asked before the transaction was final if I agreed to the terms. She said it would all be explained to me and she would help me set up the cards and a pin and of course she did not. I expect to be repacked immediately at opening hours 2/15/2020 and to be refunded in full the 10% check cashing fee that with held from me the entire transaction and was shown to me only after the transaction was complete and no choice to not accept it. Also I now will incure a few with insight to withdrawal my monies in cash as I stated I needed over the phone and also many times while standing at the window during the transaction. I have called my atty who is also handing my divorce and informed him of the events and was certain the transaction was most likely recorded with surveillance camera and possible audio and that at best I was taken advantage of mislead and felt it was underhanded. He agrees with the information. I just provided for your review that I am entitled to the entire check cashing fee to be reduced due to after asking prior to coming to the store and also while the transaction was taking place it is with holding. Information from the customer and the transaction should have never been completed without my consent and terms. He will wait to hear from me tomorrow regarding your response to a refund and see if we need to take any leagal action. I am willing to keep these cards and withdrawl the funds at 6 percent as I am aware there is a fee to do this service. However to charge me a few on the entire 17,500 when only 5,00 was given in cash and no knowledge how to receive my funds in cash for the insight cards along with another fee of 6 percent ridiculous and does not follow the ethical guidelines set forth. You may reach me at 330-801-**** or 330-687-**** ANY TIME OF DAY and request to be immediately notified of receipt of this email as well as be notified when I can expect a refund and how I will recieve it or any decisions or processes pertains to this request. To Miller email and I also have phone records indicating I called there two times to insure that this check can be cashed (not loaded onto a card) and the amount and what documentation would be needed. Cost of money

I took a loan out on 8-28-20, was told that I would not have to pay it back until 9-17-20, their finance company tried to take the money a week earlier and overdrafted my Checking account. Then proceeded to tell me that it was not their fault and that the Checksmart people told me the wrong due date. When I inquired about the overdraft fee, the finance company said it was Checksmart fault and they should be paying me for the overdraft fee. This is crazy.

I wrote a check was then 6 mosthe later I went into in bad financial distress after and filed bankruptcy in Dec.2013 and Checksmart will not take it off my account when I put them in bankruptcy, which is illegal by federal law and now they have collection agency trying to collect, how stupid are they! So I may contact a lawyer and file for stress and mental anguish! So I am contacting the Better Business Bureau and other agencies about them, they want to cause me problems I’ll cause them problems too!

They rip someone off by not paying a debt and then talk about getting a lawyer and trying to get a payout. IF anything you should get an attorney to help with your bankruptcy and forget whining to anyone about you being a loser who walked out on a note. Please, do not have children. Your poor ways would be passed on to them.

Money withdrawn out of my account

This was my second or third time taking a loan out with CheckSmart they change their policy I'm being honest to me I was not told this I tried to pay it off after borrowing $300 either the 3rd or 4th month they would not let me the lady and older lady at CheckSmart in Huber Heights that I wasn't allowed to pay it off at that time who in their right mind would take out a loan for $300 and have to pay back $1,057 nobody that I know of so a person named John called me very very rude when I answered the phone and I explained to him what happened and I told him to wait till the first of the month and he said I said the end of the month cuz I don't get my check until the first of the month and he waited he knew when I got my check and he already took it out of my checking account without asking now where's my receipt for me paying this off but I'm very upset very disgusted with this person and yeah he said he's documenting me for cussing him out I did say the f word cuz I told him I did not appreciate being asked over who does he think he is when I tried to pay this off three different times and they told me I couldn't I was laid off for the covid-19 and I told him this and I told him to wait till the first of the month and he took it out of my account and he also told me I only had to pay a hundred and fifty that he took out $304 I live on Social Security which they know cuz they know what I get and I worked and I've been laid off for 10 weeks 11 weeks now but why wouldn't they take the money when I ask him to back almost 9-10 months ago and tried to pay it off baby I called today he got on the phone with me and again extremely rude he told me next time maybe I need to read my contract and I said you told me the end of the month the first of the month I said it's a very fine line there he said too bad your paid off now so I'm like I said very upset with this man I was not told when I signed the papers that the contract was different than from before yeah I was taking care of three extra grandkids and I needed to borrow $300 I never knew that $300 was going to cost me a thousand 57 that's a 350 something percent interest rate that's highway robbery but this guy named John needs to get a better attitude with people I didn't appreciate the way he talked to me and acted like he's better than anybody else only because I needed to borrow some money in a difficult time and he's like oh well you signed the contract that your fault thank you have a nice day

$300 loan at CheckSmart over a year ago on my fourth month after paying $63 a month I asked to pay it off elderly lady that worked it to Huber Heights Branch where I took the loan out told me no I couldn't do that that would cost me over $1,000 to pay it off I didn't have over $1,000 at that time I had enough to pay the 300 plus the $63 interest on it so I thought at the end of the year that the loan would be paid off because that would have been paying them back 700 and something dollars to borrow 300 but that wasn't the case on the last month I paid my bill and then she told me I still owe $304 which would have maybe $1,057 to pay it off I did not pay the extra 300 I thought that was outrageous so I got a call the last of May with a man named John that worked in the head corporate office and I explained what happened that I had called a couple of times trying to pay that loan off when I had the money he said well it's due today and I said I'm sorry I'm on the mass layoffs and he said well you get Social Security and I said well my check is not in and I said and plus I don't think I owe that extra 300 he proceeded to stay things that were very rude and I check my checking account yesterday and they took it out of my checking account $304 so I called today and I got the same man and he called me a liar on the phone and said that he called me and I picked it up and that's a lie he did not but when we talked at the end of May I told him to give me to the first of the month and he said no you said the end of the month I said it's the same difference I don't get paid till January 3rd and he said oh well too bad we don't got the money from you so I am very upset with CheckSmart very bad procedures very rude people that work for them I don't expect to be called a liar when he said that I answered my phone when I did not answer my phone and then he I proceeded to tell him he told me that he would make a deal if I paid it I don't have to pay a hundred and fifty and I asked him what happened to that deal and he said well you didn't answer your phone so I took all the money but I did not get a receipt for them taking the $304 out of my checking account but the guy named John needs to be reprimanded he kept yelling and screaming at me over the phone and told me next time maybe I'll read all the papers before I sign them there's 12 pages to sign I had used CheckSmart before and this was not there procedure no one told me they change their laws and their procedures and that my percentage rate was going to be 356% on $300 they gave me a name of another company and said it was them I called that company back when they wouldn't let me pay it off and they said no that's a lie it's CheckSmart the one that's charging the very very high interest rate I just don't think they should have been allowed to take money out of my checking account without my approval I will never recommend CheckSmart

Terrible service from your employee very rude and racist! Was definitely treating me different. Everything was fine until she deciced to give me two different prices when i asked how much would it be to cash i thought like normal check places it be the normal 1-2 $ per 100. Her first number was 65$ than laughed and said 40$ and stated no it 40 we have 10% one everything. So at this point idk really what price im assuming whatever she makes up is what its going to be. I will never come and cash money order, check, payroll check if it will be 40$ every time i can go to a liquor store for 6$ very disrespectful and outrageously proceed store.very disappointing

You made a mistake which is preventing me from getting a bank account.

No one would even take my call. I've been waiting for this issue to be resolved since October of 2019. I'm angry about it. This has caused me a lot of loss and there may be legal ramifications for checksmart.

So you forgot to mention what happened. What's wrong, they took money out of your account per whatever stupid contract you signed, there was no money in said account and you were overdraft.

Did this cause a cascade that you couldn't afford to pay? Was your account then sent to collections and put you in ChexSystems? Look, it's not hard to figure out what happened. If they made a mistake, stop disputing it with them and dispute it with ChexSystems(probably the reason you can't get a bank account) and the credit agencies.

Only a lame fool would keep on with people you CLAIM did you wrong. Sounds like you did yourself wrong. The first mistake was walking into one of these holes in the first place and take that money. I'm also betting no on will talk to you because you've been sent to collections.

The rep told me two weeks ago today between 10:13am-10:36 that I couldn't take out a loan for $250 she said it had to be $255 and that she would only do it this time which i know is a lie. I only needed $200 that day. She had a little attitude, and she did not have her name tag on. Last name walker. Then when I tried to sign the epp disclosure form at the bottom she snatched the paper from me. So if my file is pulled for an audit then that store will lose points on that audit. I used to be a store manager for check n go, I managed 3 stores. If it happens again I will go to one of your competitors. I will be there today. The pendleton pike store in indpls Indiana.

I was never contacted again by Check Smart employees. On 2/10/20 I went in to store and made my payment as usual, not a word about being late on my account. So far haven't heard from them this month.

Reminder calls about payment that's not due until the 10th of each month that's the arrangement we have. Due to the agent who took my payment on Jan 10 2020 entering info wrong, I'm being harassed about making payment on the 1st.

Victor from Checksmart #65, @ 1930 W Indian School Rd, Phoenix AZ offered to take a partial payment to keep my account from being charged late fees. Meantime he would speak with his manager who wouldn't be in till Monday. I refused to make a partial payment. I told them to read my file.

Do they not have access? Perhaps better training of employees is still needed. I emailed corporate office 2 years ago with this problem. I thought it was resolved.

Apparently it wasn't. This will be the last time I will put up with this problem of incompetence with Checksmart employees. I will seek legal council, and have the balance of my account cleared.

I should have done it before when Checksmart withdrew funds twice in one month and I wasn't refunded. Prompt attention to this matter would be beneficial.

I cashed a check today at CheckSmart on Eastern Boulevard in Clarksville I have an extensive record of cashing checks at this location. And for some reason the lady behind the counter call my customer to verify my check and ask him how much it was wrote for.... whether it be policy or not until there is a problem with my checks that I get from my customers I do not appreciate you calling my customer in that fashion.... I have been cashing checks here quite some time now you can check my status it is extensive. I feel that this could lead to the customer thinking I'm Shady and do bad business because of this and he may not call me back for that reason. I may be wrong but until my checks come back with a problem I do not want my customers hassled in this fashion. I do tree service work and I always have a different customer. If my customers are going to be hassled all year this year then I will stop my business at this location and all CheckSmart locations. I am a professional and I do professional work. I will be getting checks from different people all the time. I choose to cash checks at CheckSmart for the convenience. I would like to keep it that way. Why don't you have a bank account like a real business?

Better yet, why don't you accept electronic payments from the multitude of apps out there. Oh that's right, you don't have a bank account.
