Chapman Lumber
Angry
Most rasist company I ever saw in my life. Talk about an all white company. Was followed every where and every isle I went down.
*** poor attitude starting with the owners
As with many, I'd rather support local business but not when they are disrespectful to their employees right in the store right infront of customers. Would have ordered a new kitchen and all materials for a huge rennovation until the dark haired owner became irrate with his employees in the store.
It's a wonder the idiots are still in business and truly should not be. If they treat their workers like that how would they treat us, probably pretty bad so they can keep their products, if or builder insists on using them, we will be rid of the builder too!
Chapman Lumber - NOT customer friendly
Several months ago, I used Chapman Lumber Company in Thomaston, CT to purchase a front door. I figured I would try to give one of the "little" guys some business vs. the big box stores (Home Depot and/or Lowes). Well, that was my first mistake. Although they sell lots of lumber and doors here, they really don't care about "us little guys."
What I mean is that they could not care one bit about one door from a landlord that has 10 apartments. What had happened is that I ordered the door, it came in a few days later (they never called as promised, I had to call them). When it came in, the guy who gave it to me in the back garage told me that I should probably check it over. Glad he mentioned this, because when I did, my carpenter and I found a defective door. The holes for the locks were predrilled in the wrong area and the door needed repair (it was brand new).
I understand that maybe one of the guys at the factory could have made a mistake (or it was a Friday when he made it), but Chapman could not care less about the workmanship and did not stand behind the products they sold. The salesman was rude and downright obnoxious when I mentioned my plight and the fact that it was their problem and not mine. I was so steamed that I asked for a manager, so shuffled over to where we were on the front counter and basically shrugged his shoulders, backing his guy 100%. They absolutely did not care because we bought only one door.
Here's their loss: Last year, I purchased over 25,000.00 in building materials that could have been purchased from Chapman Lumber. Their loss. Too bad. Glad I found this out on an inferior, inexpensive door I should have simply bought at Home Depot. Never again will I shop at Chapman Lumber.
