Champion Windows Customer Care Review

This company is horrible! I had a group of guys come to my house and the group leader was so rude and hateful to the other for the most ridiculous reasons. I will never call champion for any other work on my home.

I purchased all my windows from Champion several years ago and was very happy with the installation and warranty. I had a window break in 2015 and called Champion with the serial # of the window to get replaced. They recently changed their policy and now required an installer to view the window and place the order. They have been out 4 times since Sept of 2016, each time bringing the wrong window and/or a broken window. I have missed work, and have a boarded up window for 9 months. They would not rush the order even though its been their mistake each time. It is now July 2016 and they still cannot order the correct window.I can't get a returned phone call or a resolution. I have never given a bad review before but my patiences has run out. Do not order windows from Champion. They are incompetent and no longer believe in customer service.

Wow. So many negative reviews. Here's a positive one...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We just replaced every window (27 of them including some arches and eyebrows) as just one part of a whole-whole renovation . We signed the contract in mid February with an estimated 6-8 week lead.

Four weeks later, they called to tell us they had most of the windows in (all except the shaped ones) and asked if we wanted to get started. We told them "no" since flooring contractors were starting the following week and didn't want two trades working in each other's way; they had no problem waiting.

Flooring took a little over a week. As timing would have it, they called the last flooring day and said the order was all in and asked when we wanted to start. I asked "as soon as possible!" And they said they'd start the next day! I wasn't expecting that fast, so I asked if they could delay to the weekend. They had no problems scheduling install on a HOLIDAY (so I took no time off from work) and the Saturday following so I wouldn't have to *** work.

The guys (five of them) showed up exactly on time and put in a 10 hour day getting the first 20 Windows in, saving the huge ones for the next day. They were missing one window, and knew it right off so they didn't remove the existing until they tracked it down on the wrong truck and had it delivered (by courier!) the Saturday morning.

The install crew supervisor was a pro who had been doing this for 20+ years; his crew was light on experience so there were some small issues with hammer blows landing in the wrong place, broken glass that needed to be carefully found and removed, etc., but nothing I would consider negligent aside from a few things which when I pointed them out they addressed as best they could.

Folks in Texas with brick veneer houses: know this now. Removing the existing builders grade aluminum Windows is a BRUTAL process. There WILL likely be some minor incidental damage to drywall surrounds, broken glass, dust from mortar, etc. EXPECT IT.

Anyway, they finished the install about 2:00pm Saturday and the supervisor and I went to every window, inside and out, and inspected their work. A few things were noted; trim not quite right, caulk not quite filleted fully, and expanding foam that expanded so much it blew the caulk out. They spent the next two hours addressing these issues. They left me with a tube of interior and exterior caulk to touch up anything I chose to later. (Only thing I have seen so far is dog claw marks when my hound jumped up on the window sill and inadvertently dug a bit of caulk out).

And here it is five days later and our gullies just got washed with a massive thunderstorm... I went through the house and made sure no leaks were found. None.

Just had the alarm company out to fix all the alarm contacts, so we're all squared away.

I've had the Windows now a total of four full days, so I cannot speak at all to the support after the sale, but I am about to. A window stop came lose and the frame of the opposing sash caught it and is bent now. We'll see what happens.

But I will give everyone reading these reviews some advice.

It is REASONABLE to expect a quality product and installation because that's what you're paying for.

It is YOUR responsibility to watch and inspect the work as it proceeds and get any issues addressed while they're happening!

If you don't have the knowledge or background to do that, find someone who does and treat them to a dinner or a case of beer or whatever to help you out.

And if you can't get support after the sale, find a pro bono or contingency attorney and sue the *** out of 'em.

Does Champion really know how to measure a window?

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We ordered 11 windows from Champion. 9 windows are in two were on order because after three attempts at measuring the two windows were ordered the incorrect size. The old windows were installed without screens or the airconditioner reinstalled. The old windows were screwed shut so they could not be opened for three weeks we suffered without the use of the livingroom, since the old windows were broken when they were removed. Then on this Sunday we get a call from the installation Manager that our windows are in and they will be out on 5/31/2016 to put them in. First of all our windows did not come in until Sunday on a Holiday weekend, that is bunk. We had to pay another contractor $60 to put in our air conditioner since it was over 100 degrees in the livingroom with windows that wouldn't open due to Champion not knowing how to measure a window. Our sales man Rick said in his 5 years of working with Champion he has never heard of one let alone two windows being the incorrect size. We asked to be compensated, and asked why these things happen. Another BS story. Champion screwed up two windows on the same house on the same job. And how you want to compensate us Mr. Salesman is insulat us with wanting to side our house for the same $15,000 you quoted on windows. Champion will not be siding our house for any amount of money. This was a disaster from the beginning.

I wish I had seen this earlier. I have already paid 50% down and am waiting for the two windows I bought to be redone since the first two were measured wrong. I only ordered two windows and they were both measured wrong.

Absolutely horrible company. Horrible.

Top down incompetent, uncaring, unprofessional, unresponsive, sloppy workmanship, super resistant to fixing their problematic work. Not at all the company it once was a decade ago.

Wouldn't wish them on an enemy. Would have more mercy than that for an enemy.

Wretched company!!!!!!! Terrible customer service and inferior products. Sending clowns to install windows and doors, you should be ashamed of yourselves for taking a salary.

If you don't want to follow-up with the customer, just write that in the contract and we will find a reputable company to fix the problems you left behind.

Bad Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Had 7 windows installed 9 years ago. Everything was fine until about 2 months ago. 2 springs snapped on 1 of the windows and I had to prop the window open with a piece of wood. Called the office from which we purchased, only to find out they closed. The 877number is just a bunch of advertiments. Had to look online for another number. Anyway, had to wait a full month to get someone out to look at the window. They gave me a 1pm-3pm time frame. I had to call about 330pm to find out where service man was. Finally showed up a little after 4. After dismanteling the window and pulling springs, he didnt have the right replacement springs on his truck. He told me he would be back the following morning to replace. I asked him what time, he told me between 10/110 am and he would call me later that evening to confirm. Well again, I had to call the office to find out where he was, only to find out he is not coming out. I was told he couldn't make any appointments. Next time he could make it here wouldn't be until late August. What a joke. He traveled over 3 hours to get to the house, one way! You would think since closing offices, they would have more parts on their trucks to fufill the warranty obligations. I thought about purchasing a sun porch from them, well definitely will not with this type of customer service and they can't even fufill the warranty obligations. I will be reporting them to the AG.

Horrible customer service

I had a sunroom done and everything was going well with installation, now a year later i noticed there is condensation that won't go away between the sliding door panels. I've tried calling to set up a service appointment, but that is useless. I can never get to a service rep. and I've left messages with not a single call back in the last two weeks. There was one time I called and told them that I was always getting the voicemail for service and the lady said the customer service rep. was in the hospital. How can a company like this have only one customer service representative? To me that is unprofessional if that really is the case get a replacement in the time being.

Champion Windows - Window Review from Fort Worth, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
About two years ago, we had Champion Windows come out to our house and give us a quote. The sales representative at the time (Rocky) was super nice, helpful, and dedicated. We ended up doing three seperate contracts for about 10 windows each. The total for this job was about $25,000. All seemed to be moving along as planned. We signed the seperate contracts. Once they completed work on this job we immediately noticed problems in both workmanship and lack of communication. First things like appearance of replaced trim pieces were noticeably wrong. Next caulking was not up to standards. Another issue we encountered was screens being improperly installed and or falling out of the windows. They would break upon impact to the ground. We still have never received three screens that were on the order form. To combat the falling screen issue, I asked Champion if we could just place those plastic holders in. They said no that would void the warrant as nothing should ever be drilled into the frame. I come home the next day to two company representatives screwing in holders. When I called the company to get resolution to any of these issues, I was ignored and no action or attempt to rectify the situation was made. I called numerous times and nothing to this date has been fixed. Naturally, I refused to pay this bill as they have not fixed any issues and or figured out the warranty issues. They never once sent someone out to inspect the job or hear out the complaints. The owner, the manager, no one cared enough to correct it and get paid. Things kind of just ended with a standstill and nothing on Champions side was fixed and we refusing to pay until the issues fixed. Fast-forward two years (December 14, 2015) and we finally unveiled the extent of the damage. Over the last two years we noticed a musty smell coming from our master bedroom closet and assumed it was from humidity. This increased to some dampness on the carpet. Then increased to puddles on the floor. So we pulled out our built in bookshelf and this is when we uncovered mold. The damage was being held undiscovered because of the built in bookshelf and as the wood damaged it would leak more. Finally we had enough and called Champion. It took a bit but then we finally reached a man named Danny. He sounded caring and said he had lots of similar calls coming in. He sent a gentleman named Ray out who saw there was light coming in under the window. He admitted the screens were not measured correctly, and saw there was mold. He went to his truck and grabbed a bottle of mold killer bleach. He sprayed the outside but the mold continued to grow and spread. After a few more rains and about 20 more calls they finally sent out someone else. Danny then verbally said for me to find a mold company to fix the mold issue then they would do what they need to do to reinstall and seal the window. We contacted a company and they both verbally agreed they would do the work on our house. The mold company did the mold clean up for about $1,100. Champion then refused to talk to the company and won't pay up. They then sent our account to the corporate location in Ohio. Danny said we were transfered to Karen Miller and he couldnt help at all. It took 20 call back to reach her. She said since we didn't pay the whole bill so they wouldn't do anything to help. They also said they would not cover the mold removal though they agreed to pay it. Final they hinges Karen said she felt no obligation to help.

Sunroom

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We had Champion install a sunroom in spring 2015. We were very very pleased with the installation but also the installers.

Our experience with Champion was a good one from our rep, Mr Leanord, Mr Witt, and the young men who did the installation. Now a year later on one window a small strip of window insulation has peeled off. We have called Champion 30 plus days ago to ask for some assisstance on replacing that strip. To date we have not received a response or have a work person appeared at our home.

My husband and I are surprised and disapointed in Champions lack of action.

It would take just a few minutes of a telephone to instruction us on what to do to replace the strip on the window. Can any one at Champion explain why it is so hard to at least call, or is it just because they "just don't care".

Poor Quality Product. Windows & Siding are Junk. Bad Customer Service.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I purchased Champion siding and windows. I have had nothing but problems with them.

I am very dissatisfied! The warranty stinks and the windows are Junk! I have had to have the windows replaced 5 times. They steam up and rust in between the panes of glass.

The siding cracked but they could not fix it because the color of siding ( Wheat-Light Tan) isn't available anymore. So I had to seal the crack myself with chalking. What kind of service and warranty is that! Every time they come it cost you a service charge.

First it was $50.00 , then it was $75.00 and now it is $89.00. What a rip off. When you call for service they give you the run around, a bunch of excuses. I would not recommend this company or their product to anyone.

I would not put their product on my dog's house. It sucks.

I wish I would have bought my siding and windows from another company. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Mediocre quality, at best

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought an atrium door eight years ago. I thought I'd try Champion since the concept sounded great. That is, they manufacture, install, and service their products, therefore no finger-pointing if problems develop. Knowing there was a possibility I'd need replacement windows and doors down the road, this would serve as a test of the company. I'd previously replaced my front entry door and sidelights with a ThermaTru door and that was the biggest mistake ever. It's a long story, but there was a long stream of finger-pointing when the door developed problems. It was a massive nightmare. Okay, back to my Champion door. First, after only eight years, I'm finding problems with material and design. A strip that runs along the bottom of the stationary window is coming away. I discovered this after having a couple of floods in my basement. At first, I thought I was having water flow under the door so I went through the trouble of regrading the patio outside the door. Being pavers, it was a matter of pulling them up, changing the elevation, then reinstalling. No small feat but doable. After a few more showers, no water came in and I thought the problem was fixed. Then this spring's rains came (2016) and the flooding returned. I pulled away the flooring to look closer and saw the problem. It wasn't coming under the door, it was coming in under the window panel and above the sill, and not just a little bit of water, but a stream. After the rains stopped I looked outside the door and saw the problem. The idiots designed the door with a strip of plastic like a baseboard and the top of it had warped away from the door. It wasn't much but water doesn't need much. Why on earth would they design the door that way? It's like installing flashing upside down. Don't they know to "shingle" material to avoid water entry? So not only must they repair it, but I've got to incur a $99 trip charge. What if I had a whole house with their products and had to have them come out regularly? That could become pretty costly, especially in this case where the product is obviously of poor design. I, for one, won't purchase Champion products again. Luckily, I only have one product to be concerned with. I've since bought two replacement sliding doors from Pella with NO issues whatsoever. I'll soon replace a bathroom window and go with either Pella (most likely) or Anderson, not Champion. No way.

So no problems with the brand new Pella? Wow, how dare that 8 year old champion door not perform flawlessly after two floods.

Yeah, definitely prefer that overpriced Pella door that's not even a year old vs. that Champion door that you had two years of free service, but now must pay a service charge that you were made well aware of when you signed the contract.

Don't do business with this company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

5/2016 - I had my windows and doors installed by Champion 9 years ago and it went OK then but getting the company to fulfill it's service guarantee is not worth the headache. The manager of the Chicago office - a guy named CALEB - is particularly rude and sketchy.

I think this place makes most of it's money ripping off unsuspecting home owners after storms, etc and then doesn't fulfill it's obligations. The worst part is their rudeness and "phone system" (haha - they just hang up on people - beyond rude and childish) and their company motto of "speak louder and over the customer until they give up".

I am further reporting this shifty, rude company to the IL and OH Attorneys General as they definitely enjoy abusing elders and other vulnerable people. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY
