Do not use GM products, especially Chevrolet Equinox.
There are SEVERAL more things I did not like, they just wouldn't let me write them because there were too many characters...
My 2012 Chevy Equinox began giving me issues around 80,000 miles(May of 2019). It was drinking the oil, at least 2+ quarts between oil changes.
I took it to my mechanic who checked it over and let me know that it was the pistons and rings of the ecotec engine and there was a lawsuit ongoing with GM to fix this problem with their engine. He said to contact GM. I contacted them and they directed me to Champion Chevrolet in McMinnville, TN which was supposed to do an oil consumption test. I went to this dealership and they said to bring the vehicle back any time it needed an oil change or oil added.
They had to be the ones to do it. I did exactly as they asked. They did not give me a time limit on how long this may take. 8 MONTHS later, they finally do diagnostics on my vehicle THEN decide to finally tell me that the warranty on this problem had gone out 3 MONTHS ago!
I have repeatedly tried to talk with someone at the main GM dealership which directed me to Champion and they just keep telling me the warranty is expired for GM to have to fix my vehicle with no care at all that I started the tests 6 MONTHS before the warranty expired. I will NEVER buy another GM product. If this is the way they conduct their business and they make products like this, I will tell everyone I know to NEVER buy any GM products as well. I know a big corporation probably doesn't care but I do hope the lawsuits with people who can actually afford to take them to court severely damages their reputation and makes them rethink how they build their vehicles.
I have 2 children and am a single mother. I can't have an SUV that's going to need constant repairs(constant money) or has the potential to leave us stranded on the side of the road.
