I had several interior rooms painted with Sherwin Williams Emerald.
Issues: The new paint is a Matte finish that went over a Semi-Gloss finish. Sherwin Williams stated that the walls should have been prepped by sanding or primer.
Neither was done.
The walls were painted with a Rough Surface roller. My walls are smooth drywall.
These rollers did not cover well on the first coat we had two coats applied. This type of roller left a rough finish and runs.
There were also some coverage issues that were touched up, paint on some trim and a thin settling crack that was not filled so the crack appeared a week later.
We had paid for and expected a professional service.

Verified ReviewerPoor quality work and try to force non-disparagement clause
After not doing the work correctly and making an absolute mess of my property their suggests solution was to leave the thin, poorly bonded paint and just paint over it.
I spent an entire weekend removing paint from my floors, door knobs and freeing up my windows and doors. Im still trying to clean up my window frames so they arent two tone and stuck from having the rails painted.
After rejecting their proposed remedy which would have left sagging, translucent and pealing paint for me to deal with later they faked a detailed estimate with numbers that would get them more money than truly deserved and tried to get me to sign a non-disparagement/non-disclosure which in would prevent me from earning others about his companies horrible work.
Note to other consumers.
Non-disparagement in consumer contracts was outlawed in the United States by the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016. Any company such as Certapro that tried to have you sign a non-disparagement clause is violating federal law and should be reported to the FTC and your state AG.

Verified Reviewer |Poor service and quality of work done
I hired CertaPro Painters after Tony Caballero gave me and estimate. The painter that came to my house could not have been a professional painter.
I received sub par service and painting. I have an older house that had several ok many picture holes in the walls. I explained to Tony that I wanted them fixed before it was painted. My interior doors (room and closet) had been replaced recently also, so there was quite a bit of work that was needed.
Tony assured me the work was guaranteed and that it would be done by a professional painter. That is not what I got. When I addressed the issue with Tony he came back with the painter and although they both spoke English they decided to talk among themselves in Spanish. That was the first RED FLAG then when finished I still have *** looking walls that are not correct.
You can see the new mud on the walls that appear to be unpainted, dips from where the roller sat on the wall, some holes still in the wall, bumps and spots all over the place. It looks like my husband and I did it. I paid for it to be done so it would not look that way. I am to say the least Very Disappointed in the quality and service.
DO not recommend them to anyone. This was not a good experience at all.
Maybe if my husband would have been here it would have been different, but I am not sure. Poor work, Poor service sorry I picked them.

Verified Reviewer |They call them selves professions, we call the HACKS!
We hired CertaPro Painters of East Central Wisconsin. The owners name is Neil Covaleski, he is a real joke and takes no pride in the work his people do.
We hired them to do our entire second floor and two rooms on the main floor. We had just had the all the wood floors refinished and stated this 25 times. They came in DID NOT cover my floors, they had paint all over my newly finished floors! They have paint splatters all over our newly installed door knobs, paint on trim work.
They didnt prepare anything prior to sanding. The just painted over the carpet Remnants that was on the baseboard from us removing the carpet. They didnt send the doors prior to paint painting them they just painted over them. They dont know how to paint a straight line nor make sure that all walls have full paint on them and no see-through.
When I contacted Neil the owner he just left I believe he thought it was a joke. We had to have our hardwood floors re-sanded and sealed. Neil paid for that to happen and thought that that was the solution for their *** *** job. Nonetheless they came back to correct the job but my contractor found a wet paint brush on my windowsill.
All in all but never hire this company again. My contractors called these people hacks and have never seen such a poor paint job. We will now have to repaint and re-strip all the doors and trim and start over on our own. They parked their vehicle on my backyard and put divots in my yard and claimed they didnt do it.
Their vehicles dripped oil all over my driveway. They wash their paint brushes in my bathtub my bathroom sink my kitchen sink got paint all over my kitchen sink my bathroom sink my bathtub my brand new Keurig machine all down my dishwasher all over my countertop and didnt even wash it up. They left it to sit there to dry so that when we came back to the house it was there. The house was empty as we hadnt moved in yet.
It was a complete disaster! My husband who is not a painter and myself can do a much better job. This was no small job this was a $10,000 job. Nonetheless, I did not pay them the entire amount for what Im concerned is that they dont do this to somebody else.
This is the reason I am posting this review. Think wisely before hiring your painter make sure you get some references.
Dont hire these people to paint your house you will not be happy. Although the salesman Jerry was wonderful he even came out to view what was such a disaster on a Saturday his day off.

Complaint
I am so terribly disappointed in this company. When I spoke to the owner and then to his agent who gives bids, I was so excited.
I thought this was a highly professional business that I could trust with my project. Unfortunately, I was very much mistaken. When his agent came to give the estimate, I was very clear, adamant in fact, that I wanted the ceilings and walls all the same color, so they blend in to one another. She said they can do that.
She did mention that they use different sheens. She never said that the different sheens would make the colors very different.ent company
So, jump to the day the painters come. They were supposed to text or call me when they finished for the day, so I could go lock up. They never called, so I ran over at 5:00 PM to see what was going on.
No one was there, and all of their equipment was gone. I couldnt figure that out, since the ceilings were all white instead of the color they were supposed to be and the garage walls hadnt been finished. They had only painted them down to a half inch above the end of the wall. I emailed the owner to ask what was going on.
I said I would go over again at 7:00 AM, so the painters could finish.
I went the next morning to let them in, and no one showed up. I drove home and emailed the owner again. He requested that I meet with the supervisor which I did. The supervisor stated that the ceilings had been painted with the correct color, but that the flat sheen just made it look white.
I showed him where the men didnt finish the painting in the garage. He told me that he would come back sometime to finish it. Then I started asking about the garbage that had been thrown all over my floor and the stainless steel kitchen sink that was encrusted with paint. He argued with me at first because I had told them that they didnt have to worry about paint dripping on the floors because they would all be replaced.
He apparently took that to mean that they could throw garbage on the floor. He did pick up most of the painters trash only what was in the unit; he didnt pick up their trash in the garage, too. Then he scrubbed most of the paint out of the sink, though, not all of it. Its still in the sinks and on the faucet.
Actually, numerous areas of overspray and drips all over my unit.
Next, I got a phone call from the agent who gave the estimate. I reminded her that I made it very clear that I wanted the same color on the walls and the ceilings. She immediately began shouting at me, so I hung up on her. She didnt know that the supervisor was very close to me when she called, and I had put her on speaker.
Im sure the supervisor heard her yell at me because when I looked at his face, his eyes were bulging out and he had a shocked look on his face. The owner basically called me a liar when I let him know that had happened.
The owner emailed me asking if we could meet at my property at 1:00 PM the next day. He had claimed he wanted to review the issues and come to an agreement. When he got there, he immediately called me a liar, saying that his agent didnt shout at me and that she did tell me that the different sheens would make every color look different.
I tried to explain to him that it wouldnt make sense for me to insist on the same color and then agree to different colors and then complain because they are different. He wouldnt listen and became belligerent, argumentative, and repeatedly threatened me. He became angry and irate that I wouldnt agree to him just taking $75 off of the $3,000 bill as appropriate recompense for my white ceilings and incomplete paint job in the garage. After my first refusal, he asked me what I wanted, and I told him that I wanted my ceilings painted the correct color.
He didnt like that, so he just kept offering me the $75.
Every time I refused to accept the $75 as recompense in full for the ceilings and the garage, he would raise his voice at me and threaten to put a lien on the condo. I said I didnt say I wasnt going to pay the bill. He would then offer me the $75 again, and immediately threaten me again when I turned him down. That happened five times.
I started feeling very uncomfortable over his behavior, so I got out of there. Im a five foot tall woman in her sixties, and this six foot tall man was being nasty and hateful to me, just not OK.
I had only gone with CertaPro because they had five stars on Yelp, but that CertaPro doesnt service my area. Im so kicking myself that I didnt read this other CertaPros reviews.
I just assumed they were five stars, too. Now I know much better, but too late.

Poor quality of work. Sloppy.
I Had them paint my trimming around the home. Windows, around doors and balconies etc.
When I was washing my windows, the painters did a poor job masking my windows and had over spray on all my windows and some of my screens.
I have a 2 story home so I haven't checked the 2nd story windows. I'm calling in a window washing company to do them. I also saw approx 5 tiles broken where these guys stepped and broke. I then noticed on the side of my home towards the back that they had done a touch up of approx 2 feet in diameter and the paint didn't match.
The primary paint is 15 years old and the just used the same color for touch up which looked terrible. You would think I had to break through the stucco to fix something. Sloppy and I don't care attitude. I called the owner, Kelly and he came out to inspect .
I was complaining to him of the quality of work his people didn't have and showed him all the issues. He acted like its no big thing. I told him I paid $700 to have my roof inspected and broken tiles replaced, 10 total... 5 from his workers and 5 from golf balls....He said he could of gotten the tiles for $5 each....Then he tried to protect his worker that did the 2 foot touch up...
Then I told him his worker must be color blind because you can see it doesn't match. Then he got pissed at me for complaining and he said I'm here to try and get things fixed. I told him the quality of your work is terrible and your workers don't care. He said he would pay a small portion of the window cleaning but I'm done with this guy, Kelly, the owner.
Then I see other complaints from previous customers and Kelly hasn't done a damn thing to fix the quality of work.
They also had white paint dropping on my epoxy in my courtyard that couldn't get off. I'M DONE WITH CERTA PRO and Kelly.
- Poor quality
- Extremely messy
