Harassing Telephone Call from Century Financial Services
I finally received a notice in writing on 2/17/2015 (after my written request) by U.S. Postal Mail from Century Financial Services Inc which included a billing statement from SMG in the amount of $718.
They NEVER once notified me in writing by U.S. Mail anytime before this as they allegedly state in this communication response to me. This medical bill was already taken care of and paid by for my health insurance company. They are apparently trying to double collect on this bill which was already paid for by my health insurance company and trying to exhort money from me.
This bill was satisfied. They should have known this before making their first automated generated telephone call which gave me NO ability to speak with a “live representative” so that I could find out what it was for; this call also gave no further details (this goes against the rules and regulations of the Do Not Call Registry-No automated telephone calls from a company without the ability to speak with a “live” operator).
If I WOULD have been able to speak with a “live” operator/representative from Century Financial Services, I would have informed them that this medical bill was already taken care of by my health insurance company and faxed them a copy that the claim was paid; but apparently they jumped in too fast (so typical of medical debt collectors).
I still believe that they utilized poor judgment and IMPROPER collection tactics that should be investigated by your governing authorities; this should not go unchecked because other persons could be affected by this same type of improper tactic.
I received an automated generated telephone call on Tuesday morning 2-3-2015 at 09:29am from Century Financial Services debt collection at telephone # 1-80*-221-**** that stated that I owed a debt and gave no further details (this goes against the rules and regulations of the Do Not Call Registry-No automated telephone calls from a company without the ability to speak with a “live” operator). It was an automated generated telephone call with NO ability to speak with a “live representative” from the company to determine what this was about; it just kept disconnecting me when trying to speak with an operator.
It NEVER once stated what the debt was for or any other details, such as amount, account #, etc. when prompted to speak with an operator through their touch-tone menu, I was disconnected automatically. Don’t let yourself to be scammed or harassed by this company. If they have anything to say about an uncollected debt that I don't know about, send me the details in writing by mail.
I believe this is a scam and should be investigated and to let others know to be aware of it too!
I just don't know how they can get away with this, letting something go to collections without notifying you in writing by mail. People be aware of this company and don’t get scammed into sending them money!
The company is Century Financial Services Inc. based in North Haven, Connecticut!
Preferred solution: Stop the harassing automatic generated telephone calls! Send your details of any collections in writing!
