Century Communities
Reviews and Complaints
How can you treat customers so horribly?
I need a call
300,000 gone to waste!!!!
A nightmare. Absolutely horrible.
My husband and I gave $2,000 in May 2017 earnest money to Century Communities Brightfield Farms in Loganville, Ga for a Reynolds Plan and in September pulled out because they were building the home how they wanted to build it instead of what we requested. They put the wrong brick on the house.
Our front door and shutters around the windows were supposed to be black and they put up Brown. We upgraded the pendant lights over the kitchen island and they put up the standard ones. To top that off they never gave us a dry wall walk-through and during Hurricane Irma we discovered a leaky roof. Their on site sales agents are no help at all.
Of course like the thieves they are they refused to return our earnest money. I see this company folding and going under in the near future. They are a total rip off. They purposely do what they want until the buyer is frustrated enough to pull out and they keep your money.
Stay as far away from this builder as you can. Thank God we woke up before it was too late because we would have definitely had a LEMON of a house.
Buyer beware of Century Communities they are definitely not what they want you to think they are. A very sloppy builder.
Don't trust them - at all
WORST BUILDERS--DISHONESTED AND RIP OFF!
WORST BUILDERS EVER! From the first day the start of the building of my NEW home, i seen red flags to not purchase this from this builder....in ELLENWOOD, GA!
I found construction crew drinking beer on the job and bad construction throughout the house. I made complaints and of course they spoke to the crew to resolve the issue. I asked for a one car garage and they constructed it for a two car garage which is now seem to be giving me issues, my garage is getting wet. I had a general contractor come out last week to be told, the roofing, the front porch post and construction of the garage was POORLY done...
really. Imagine if he came into the house to review. The day before I closed on my house, the foreman (BRAD) made promises to fixed things identified wrong (Day before Thanksgiving), but once i closed he did not honor not half of the issues, I have continuous problems and have proof through emails of the poor construction of a new home costing $192K. My front post on the porch is still sitting incorrectly, the stairs were stained incorrectly, they put different color gout in my bathroom (i paid additional for ceramic tile).
My floors in the bathroom gout was a horrible mess, that they poorly redone. I am in the process of spending my own money because the warranty company refuses to assist to make the house right before I sell it. I have all emails and pictures of the what was not done properly, that is being reviewed by an attorney. My suggestion is to BEWARE of, Legacy Communities switched to Century Communities in Dec 2014, now they have merger with another company, new name UCP home builders.
They are switching names ever couple of years? Because customers are complaining and they are reaping people off on new home constructions. This is making it harder for customers to locate them. If you buy a house from this builder DO NOT accept any promises, and do not close on your home until is 100% complete.
FINALLY, they are putting together bad constructions. Also, before closing have your home inspected by a general contractor who is not affiliated with their company and require them to repair everything identified before closing. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUILDER TO MY WORST ENEMY. MY FINAL STEP IS CONTACT THE NEWS STATION AND PRESENT MY EMAILED DOCUMENTS AND PICTURES OF THE DAMAGE AND POOR CONSTRUCTION OF MY HOME.
ALL I ASKED THEM TO DO WAS MAKE IT RIGHT! WORST
Resolved: Horrible buying experience
I received communication from David who gave me information about my close date and apologized for the lack of communication. Thank you!
Areas for growth for century communities:
1.mindset of putting customers first
2. Clear communication and a point person to be the communicator
3. Be honest- customers can see through the lies.
However, the day of closing I received a phone call 1 hour prior that the building didn't pass inspection. I was assured that everything was okay and that someone would be in touch that dad (June 30) with an update. As of today, July 6, I have not received any update and I have called the VP two times, left a message for the construction manger and sales rep. No one will return my phone call - and no one seems to care.
This has been, hands down, one of the worst buying experiences ever. They seem to be concerned about money and closing deals.
Humans mean nothing to Century ... in fact, the customers just get in the way.

RUN LIKE ***!!! 88 legitimate issues at closing!
Correction: Cracks in garage were repaired with epoxy covering by builder; however, there are several "rough, foot-prints, and impressions from wood laying on wet cement" Cracks were not 1/2", just large hairline. To be totally honest, I don't know how old the boy was...
The subs (mexicans) come and go. We had three different builders and probably about ten different crews. I caught subs drinking vodka and beer while they were framing my house. I took out beer bottles, trash of every nature from inside the framing; enough to fill a roll-off box....NO JOKE!
Their electrical work is HORRIBLE. Example: I asked for two flood lights in back of the house. They mounted the lights upside down and had three feet of romex cable HANGING OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE. What's really bad is, this SNAFU PASSED COUNTY CODE!!
The warranty department is a DAMN JOKE!!! Good luck with even getting a call back from Mrs. Crystal Lee in Atlanta. I have tried to reach her FIVE FREAKING TIMES!!
Call 678-533-****, type in CRY for Crystal's voicemail. She has a greeting that says "MERRY CHRISTMAS"!!! IT'S ALMOST MAY 2017!!! Very professional wouldn't you say?
I took several pictures of this whole damn nightmare.....the beer cans, vodka bottles, framing COVERED WITH CHUNKS OF MUD, Sheetrock laying in mud, light fixtures total SNAFUed, terrible concrete work (poured slab @ 18 degrees, ended up with 1/2" cracks throughout garage), electrical panel installed by 16 year old mexican....trips breakers continuously. Had to call the fire department because the panel had smoke coming out from it. Roof line has a major "sinking spot" because of poor framing etc, etc, etc. I could write a book on this bunch!!
If you saw the pictures I have, your mouth would hit the floor. Like I said, RUN LIKE ***!! Incidentally, this is the seventh house I've built....I'm not a rookie at this game! I will be forwarding several pictures, and history of lies told by everyone from the top to the bottom.
All of this is going to CENTURY CORPORATE ASAP!!! Maybe someone at the top will give a damn!!

Unprofessional Sales consultant
I visited the Century Community in Snellville, GA the sales consultant Natasha Hatcher was rude, short with her words, had an attitude, and did not take the time to show me the model home. She opened the door to the model, walked back through the door, left the door open and left me standing there.
I'm looking around like okay so she's not going to tell me anything about the home. I thought, so I guessed, she is having a bad day. When I exited my car and wad on my way up to the office she was walking accross the lawn saw me walking up and did not greet me until she was almost inside the office.
NATASHA HATCHER was very unpleasant, rude, VERY unprofessional and should not be in this line of business. It is all about customer service and she missed that mark by far.

Did you use their Lender, Inspire?
Yes, we did use their lender. A news reporter contacted my wife today & they are trying to get more people together to do a story.
The reported suggested also contacting athe attorney general in your state. They noticed how many complaints are not addressed anymore, probably because of such high turnover.
Same here in Loganville. We were contacted by one of the producers of the CBS affiliate here in Atlanta. Seeing all of the other complaints about Century Communities I really think that the State of Georgia needs to be made aware of the aweful things that they are doing to people
Are you all still trying to put a story together?
