Verified ReviewerResolved: To inform others of my experience with David Carty
- - Delivered edited photos and invoiced the client.
- - Client agreed to $300+tax; later denied contract.
- - Payment came after collection; limited notice.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with settlement agreement. David Carty made payment in full.
On May 15, 2026, at approximately 3:25 p.m., David Carty phoned me.
During our approximately four-minute conversation, we discussed the work and my fee. He agreed to my price, confirmed that he would pay for the services, and asked whether I accepted credit cards. I explained that I was not set up to accept credit card payments, and he said he could send me a check. I told him I would send an invoice.
Before ending the call, he asked me to send him the edited photos, which I did. Immediately afterward, I sent him a text message advising that I was heading out but would send the invoice when I returned home. He acknowledged the message with a thumbs-up reaction. I then sent the invoice as promised.
The edited photographs were subsequently used on the Carty Realty listing for the property, which identified David Carty as the listing agent. I have retained screenshots documenting this.
After more than a month passed without payment, I sent David Carty a text message on June 19 requesting payment. The message was delivered, but I received no response.
On June 23, I contacted him again, reminding him that he had agreed to pay for my services. He replied, "I've been in Croatia for 12 days.
Sorry for delay." I thanked him for the response and understood that payment would be forthcoming. Despite that exchange, no payment was made.
On July 12, I contacted him one final time requesting payment. His response was:
"Joe, The fact is I did not order the photos. Therefore there is absolutely no contractual relationship.
That said, I will be happy to pay the $200 and consider it to be our last piece of business. Please send me your Venmo or Zelle account." This response directly contradicted our May 15 phone conversation, during which he agreed to my quoted price, discussed payment methods, requested that I send him the completed photographs, and later acknowledged my invoice message. It also contradicted his earlier explanation that payment had been delayed because he was out of the country.
I declined the $200 offer because the agreed-upon price was $300 plus applicable tax. I gave him until July 16 to honor the agreement.
No payment was received.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend doing business with David Carty. He agreed to pay for professional services, accepted and used the completed work, failed to pay after repeated requests, and later denied having any contractual obligation despite our prior communications. I have retained the text messages, invoice, phone records, and screenshots documenting these events.
Update, Saturday, July 18, 2026:
Following an aggressive collection effort and the posting of this review, the client ultimately issued a payment via check.
No notice or communication was provided by the client regarding the payment. While the balance has been settled, the lack of responsiveness and severe payment delay remain an issue.
- Did not follow through with payment as promised
Preferred solution: Payment for the photoshop work David Carty promised to pay for
