Verified Reviewer | Sumter, South CarolinaRude management that talked to me like he didn't give a damn whether I was satisfied or not.. I have never been treated this way by anybody that wanted my business.
I bought a heavy duty VP gas can there (CarQuest on Broad St.) around last November for $45.00. I kept noticing fuel around the base of it, but kept thinking that I hadn't tightened the cap enough until last week.
I left it sitting in the bed of my pickup for a while and noticed that I had about a half gallon of diesel all over my bed liner. It had a slow drip through a flaw in the seam on the bottom. Looking through the filler neck you can see a crack that is about 5/8" of an inch long in the seam. This is a manufacturing flaw, not any kind of damage.
As a matter of fact, I have never had a plastic gas can that leaked, even a cheap one. long story short, I took it back to CarQuest expecting them to make it good, and trade it for another one, never expecting them to give me an argument over the thing. I am a long time customer, but apparently the new guy in charge, Lee, does not value old customers. Without even a cursory examination of the container, he announced that he had no control over how it was used and that it was an old can with a faded label(?).
I left there and called him back today and was told to bring it back by for him to look at.
The rude manner that I was spoken to is a real first for me as a customer with a legitimate, provable complaint. All this over making a product that they sold good. So much for CarQuest.. I see that several of their nearby locations have closed.
Maybe this kind of thing is why. Jim James

Bad experince with a Carquest store
Hi,
My Wife and I had a bad situation today, Two mile outside of Lovell WY we lost all electric power, needed a battery, I called an auto parts store in another town because I happened to have there number. The only store in Lovell was Carquest, they gave Me the number and I called. They did have what I needed and I asked if someone could bring it the two miles as I was stranded, the reply was We don't deliver on Sat.,
I explained again We were stranded and could some on bring the battery it was only two miles. No there is only two of us today We don't deliver on sat. was the reply.
I had a family member drive 50 miles to help, others stopped to help after I had made arrangements, besides I sure as *** was not getting a ride to the Carquest and buy a battery after the treatment given. We got things fixed and home but I will much refrain from using Carquest if this is how it works.

Verified Reviewer | Sorel, QuebecEnvoice warranty doesn't match advertised warranty
Nothing new. Carquest didn't even mind to acknowledge...
So, now I only hope for the best while I'll be in the third year with this 3 years/2 years (truncated) warrantee battery. To be honest, I'll spread butter on my bread anyway if it dies early, but I feel as if...
It's their second best one in the lead/acid range, backed by a 3 years warranty (see photo). Now, my problem : on my invoice, it says 2 years warranty instead of 3 years. I want what's advertised. I wrote to Carquest twice about that, they didn't even acknowledge my request.
Warranty is like insurance: we must have some, even if we wish we'll never need it! Here, I wish to have a 3 years warranty, just as advertised, that's all!
- Invoice warranty doesnt match advertised warranty
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: Shop and check the wholesaler or manufacturer's warranty : if the retailer can't match it, go shop elsewhere.
My local carquest will not have any minorities
- Good quality parts
- No minorities
Preferred solution: Hire minorities
User's recommendation: All minorities should not spend money there until we see some people of color working there
