Contacting family members for debt that is not even mine

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I received a letter for collection on a parking ticket from Capital recovery systems. Upon investigation, neither the city nor Capital recovery had any evidence that it was mine.

Further more, it was for a minivan which I have never owner or drove. They cleared me of this debt. Now they are sending my parents (which I have not lived with for 20 years) letters in my name to collect on that same debt. I have since filed a complaint with the bureau of consumer finance and the FTC.

All of this over a $55 parking ticket that is not mine. I have asked the BCF, if they collect any fines from this company, to send them to charity to support legal defense against debt collection agencies.

Capital Recovery Systems in NH put my name into the credit department after i made a payment plan.

The Capitol Recovery systems in NH called me about a debt from a year earlier.I couldn't remember what i owed and asked him to send me some proof of what i owed.I never received anything from them and he kept changing what i owed. After making arrangements to pay 240.00 dollars a month which he said i had to pay that much even though i told him i couldn't afford that much he still put my name into the collection agency. When i called to complain he said it was a mistake and he would take it off.I had to call three times and i'm still not sure if it got taken off.I also called and asked if i could lower the payments because i didn't have anything for groceries and he said no.They are ruthless and rude and i hope i never have to deal with them again.

Why AREN'T collection agencies governed by do not call list?

I don't understand why these collection agencies aren't regulated by the do not call lists. I have had this phone number for 8 months now and I continually get phone calls for people who don't live here! I have always paid my bills on time and yet I have to put up with harassing phone calls about other people's debts? WHY?

Usually it is Capital Recovery Systems bothering me, but now Allied Interstate is calling. I have requested to be taken off their list, so if they call again, I will add their name to the complaint form I'm sending to the Office of Financial Regulation.

Craig,

Work on your reading comprehension. The poster said the calls are for someone else (previous owner of the phone number). Knucklehead indeed...
