REFUSAL TO FORWARD PET'S MEDICAL RECORDS TO A NEW VETERINARIAN

I made a request for my pets' medical records via Certified/Registered/Return Receipt Requested SEPTEMBER 28, 2015, and the new veterinarian has yet to receive the records (AUGUST 16, 2015). I've been informed that those records are my legal right by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). I submitted an inquiry to the (AVMA) and they replied with; Thank you for contacting the American Veterinary Medical Association. According to the AVMA Veterinary Medical Ethics, as long as there is a Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR), the client (pet owner) has a right to get copies or summaries of their medical records, as these are property of the veterinarian/veterinary hospital and they have to keep the originals for a statute of limitations required by their state. The veterinarian cannot ethically refuse to provide you with copies or summaries of your records. To find out your specific state laws regarding this, you should contact your Veterinary Medical Association or Veterinary Licensing Board as they will know the guidelines regarding your state specifically. Thank you for contacting the AVMA. HORRIBLE TREATMENT AT VETERINARIAN'S OFFICE

The staff is the absolute rudest that could be. Each and every time that I've called, first, you will hold on for over 5 minutes, sometimes more. And, when they say they'll call you back, they don't. EVER. And, if you ask to speak to Dr. Cameron, they will NEVER tell him that you called. Over the course of several months, I called to find out how my cats were doing. Each time, that I called, the person got ruder and ruder. Earlier this year, I had 4 feral cats that I wanted to have euthanized, since I am moving out of New Jersey, and did not want to leave them behind to starve to death. When I brought them in, Dr. Cameron, without my asking, offered to take the cats, and keep them until he found a home for them. He asked for a donation, which I gave at time of surrender. Subsequently, one of the girls had AIDS & Feline leukemia, she was euthanized. I asked Dr. Cameron, if I could call to find out the outcome of the remaining three cats. He said, certainly. I called a few times, not even one a week. This was an extremely difficult thing for me to do, surrender them. I had cared for some of them for nearly 13 years. When I called, each staff person, made a point to tell me that it cost them a lot of money to care for the cats. I made a donation of money, and 16 cases of cat food. I wasn't asked by Dr. Cameron for more money or cat food. Today, I called, after not calling for over a month, and was told one more time, that it cost a lot of money for their care. I asked them why are they saying this to me again. I asked them if Dr. Cameron instructed them to be so rude, and horribly mean to me. With that, a vicious person, got on the phone, and told me to NEVER call them again. I'd be a fool to call such a vicious place to bring my 2 cats that I have at home to such a nasty environment. I suspect that the staff doesn't like that Dr. Cameron took the cats from me. I have no idea why they would be so - there's no way to explain this type of behavior, other than they must hate themselves so much that they have to make other people feel as bad as they do. I will find a compassionate vet, and people that aren't this disgustingly mean. Do not call this office, and expect to be treated like a human being. They are absolutely horrible people. I will seek other veterinary CARE for my cats at home. To, whomever reads this, it's on FACEBOOK too. It'll go on other sites too! You want to make me feel bad. OK - I'll recover because I'm stronger than you. I truly like myself. You do not. I'VE FOUND BOTH A CAT-FRIENDLY AND PEOPLE FRIENDLY ANIMAL HOSPITAL. THEY DO EXIST.
