Complete Fraud

After placing an order I get a call from them asking me for my name, after which the guy hangs up. Calling back is useless as their number 718 373 **** as it is busy.

They email back rude, typical scam bait and switch.

Email replies get complete replies of backorders and cancellation excuses.

The company specializes in either identity theft or baiting a person into a price that is not realistic and later upgrading them to a product that is below quality standards but is more expensive. I would completely regard them as unreliable with any information especially credit card.

Cameracronies = dishonest merchant

I ordered a spare battery and charger (led to them by google search). I was told that the battery was in stock, but the charger was on back order.

I waited for two months. In the end they simply ignored my email, and refused to ship the battery to me. The fact that they would not honor their prices, which were much cheaper than elsewhere, shows that Cameracronies is a dishonest merchant. By the way, they did try to sell me a "compatible charger", but I refused.

I wish I had read reviews on this site before dealing with them. What a waste of time.

Yea, I agree. Read the reviews on these crooks and stay away. Don't believe me? When you order something from them they will call you and say it is out of stock and try to sell you something else. Classic bait and switch. I told the guy to update the invoice and send it to me so I could review the product he was trying to sell me. I never got the updated invoice, but I received the items in the mail a few days later.

Once I received them I called Cronies because that was not what we agreed to. He said fill out the form and get a RMA to send it back if that's what I wanted to do, so I did. Three times with no response. I called and left 2 voice mails. Finally I get a call on a Sunday saying they replied to the email, I must not be getting them. Sound familiar????

So, I called them on Monday like he said to get them to give me an RMA over the phone. So I did that and the guy said, I'm sorry, that item is not eligible to be sent back per the returns policy. I said no, I read it and Flashes is not listed in the policy. He said it was in the policy. I told him I am going to dispute the charges with the credit card company.

I was out of town and when I got back I wanted to look on my PC to read the return policy and sure enough flashes were allowed to be returned. So, being the curious person I am I loaded the page in a different tab and guess what. They added flashes to the list of items that aren't allowed to be returned.

I saved the cached page, printed it and sent it to my credit card company.

Buyer beware!

Claimed back order on an item order and asked to substitue a cheaper item.

Accepted an order and then claimed it was back ordered for 6 weeks. They then recommended a "better" item as a substitute with a "special" price which was discounted to make it equal to the original item order.

I trusted them and told them it was ok to ship.

Once I received the item, I found that is could be purchased for $90 instead of the $129.95 they charged me. I wrote them asking for a credit of $40 to make this equal to their competition and they refused.

This is a classic example of "buyer beware" and I was *** enough to trust them. This company should be avoided.

Camera Cronies bait and switch!

beware, beware, beware, bait and switch!

I Ordered a well priced, "in stock" item from the Cronies website...only to be emailed and called that item was "back ordered" and offered an upsell on another tripod. I canceled entire order...feel BAITED and Switched!!!

They described the item incorrectly and insisted that I was wrong even though I was reading it to them off of the website and referenced Canon's website too!

Same thing, listed " in stock " cot call back ordered. They did not try to sell me something else, so I can't figure what there motive is. Just called the number someone provided and some guy in Kansas says the Sony flash is still backordered

Camera Cronies number is 888-824-**** if any of you need it. i recommend you dispute your charges with you CC company, especially if you a re in my situation were they won't let me return the flash I ordered. Beware, they also operate under the name of NWV Direct.

I ordered a Sony lens here at a great price, supposedly in stock; next day I received a phone call saying it was back-ordered. That was a bit hard to believe since Sony no longer sells the lens - so who was it back ordered from?

The sales rep then said my lens was "out dated" and was about to suggest an alternate lens when I cut him off and said I was only interested in a Sony lens. I found the lens at a higher price from another online retailer - expecting similar results.

Ordered an OEM charger for my camera battery. Sure enough, I got the call of them being back ordered.

He started to ask me something, I asked him to cancel the order if it was back ordered. He verified, and asked why, I started to reply, and then got hung up on.

Never been hung up on by a sales rep before. Definitely something sneaky going on.

same thing happened to me i ordered a nikon battery charger and got a call that it was on back order and tried to switch me to another brand. then i tried to order a bg-e8 battery grip gor my cannon a month later to have the sam thing happen.. guess i should have researched the company fist.

Guest

Read all the comments and that is exactly what happened to me. I placed an order and immediately received confirmation via email that the item is on back order.

I tried contacting them by email since that was the only way to get in touch with them, but they never ever responded.. This place is definitely a scam.

I'm worried that now they have my credit card number. Don't order from this place!!!

Ordered a close-up lens by Canon which was in stock only to be told it was back-ordered due to Canon's facilities in Japan being devastated with the tsunami, and a "more superior" lens would be substituted in it's place. I quickly researched the substitute lens and even contacted the lens manufacturer "Digital NC".

The person on the other end of the line at Digital NC was not a professional- and answered the phone speaking to someone else, and when I asked, is this Digital NC, I was told yes- what do you want? I was told by Camera Cronies that Digital NC was producing lenses for Canon because of the devastation.

I contacted Canon and was told that this was not true- so then I cancelled the order. Just so you know, this company does the bait and switch, and did it to me.

Just happened to me too - ordered a (discontinued) VADHA adapter for sony dsc h20. The site said 'in stock' and let me purchase it, but then I got an email the next day saying it was unavailable.

Ordered an Olympus Pen Fl-14 Electronic Flash for $120. The market price is more like $140.

Sure enough, I got a call telling me the flash was on factory backorder due to a product issue. Tried to switch me to a different flash.

These guys are trolling for orders then trying to switch you to another product. I canceled my order and ordered from a reputable reseller.

These guys are scammers!

Cameracronies.com doesn't actually sell ANYTHING

I ordered a pair of binoculars, at a substantial discount below MSRP, and sure enough, two days later the order was cancelled. Do NOT fall for their trap!

I hung up the phone before "sales", could try any bait and switch tactic on me. These guys, if nothing else are wasting time, but it scares me to know that they have my credit card info. I recommend buying from more reputable companies such as amazon or even sellers on eBay.

I only wish that I had read the warnings regarding Cameracronies.com on this website prior to trying to business with them. Don't make the same mistake as me!

Ordered recently from Camera Cronies, no action for a few days, contacted them politely, and three days later received the items that I ordered for the prices that were advertised on their website.

If you do much online ordering, you can tell that some websites have real-time stock inventory, and some smaller online presences use a service that gets updated only weekly or monthly, and some only yearly. So they are not trying bait and switch, they are just trying to keep their costs low, and don't subscribe to a expensive real-time inventory system, but a bare bones system.

If you don't want to order the item they suggest as a substitute, no one is forcing you, JUST SAY NO THANK YOU!!

and look elsewhere. It's a small business, not a conspiracy!!

Camera Cronies Scam

Listen to all of the reviews about this company, I went through the same thing. Great price on a battery charger was listed then I receive an email stating there is a problem with my order.

Called the company sat on hold for several minutes then got to speak to a guy who answers the phone "sales". He then pulls up my order and informs me it is on backorder.

I asked how long til the item will be available and am told it will be quite some time, however this other version is available now. I told the man to cancel my order, as I realized that all of the warnings were true!
