Second time at calypso
Our second time and no complaints! Staff is great!
We had a problem with our dryer we called the front desk, within 15 to 20 minutes a maintenance person gave us a new one. Since we were there last they have opened another pool which was heated that was great cause the day we went in was a little chillie, these time around the hottub was working, bar and slide area.
They expanded the menu and it was not to bad for the price I would suggest (try the conch fritters) On our next visit next year we are thinking of getting a bigger villa! and I mentioned this to some of my friends and they are thinking of coming down with us next year.
Take Heed....Stay Elsewhere.
I am disappointed in the service we were provided for our trip. I had purchased our hotel through a package deal. I should have known better than to expect good service when purchasing a deal off of a Groupon type website. In this deal, they mentioned that a $15 + tax charge would have to be paid upon arrival. However once we got there, an extra Room Fee (not sure what that would be for) and Maid Service Fee awaited us at check in. These fees were not disclosed in either the confirmation email nor the restrictions for the package we purchased. Let's not even mention that there was barely enough parking for guests in the parking lot.
The room had potential of being fabulous except for its peeling wall paper that featured mold that had begun to grow under it. There were also some pieces of furniture that had been damaged and unsafe if little ones were to stay in the room. Oh and let me not fail to mention that although I had opted for the basic cleaning service, nothing was done. Not only had the shower curtain not stopped the water from coming out of the shower, but when we arrived from our first day out, only one clean towel had been supplied for us. ONE. Lets not forget to mention that the towel we used in the morning to step on had been tossed onto the top of the toilet (still moist from the puddle that had been created due to the lack of a proper shower curtain, which was brought to the attention of the front desk.) The cleaning service didn't even take out the trash.
Oh...and forget about free wifi. You may be on for 3 seconds and it's gone. When you ask the front desk about it, they mention that they will restart it, but nothing really happens. Also the Breakfast at least has 3 wafflemakers that are placed terribly in regards to where guests have to line up if they are interested in using them. Their other items are ALL COLD, from the eggs to the sausage. Their toast doesn't even come out warm out of the toaster. They also ask you to specify what room you are in as well as how many from that room are getting breakfast.
Though some of the employees were kind and answered questions we had, but others definitely needed a crash course in customer service. Our last day, we decided to go to the pool before checking out. We asked the front desk for pools towels. They were only able to give us one and said they would send someone out to the pool for another. We hung out at the pool for more than an hour. We asked a manager/supervisor that walked by to see if any could be brought to us which she radioed someone over. After 15 more minutes of waiting, We saw an employee checking out the "tiki drink hut" they had outside and asked if they would know if the towels were on the way or not. They told us to go inside and get them from the front desk. Another two employees later, we finally got a towel so we would go into the hotel dripping wet. (This being a total of 4 employees and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get a towel.)
Although we didn't visit the parks this time around, we overheard the conversation one guest had in regards to the shuttle that is advertised by the hotel. What they will do is shuttle you to EPCOT. If you want to go to another park, "you are on your own from there." (Verbatum what the response of the employee). If this is something you seek, shuttles to and from the park, a Disney Resort or a Good Neighbor Resort is where you want to be at. They are also not a Good Neighbor Hotel (as some of the items in their establishment suggests).
As someone who writes for a Disney Fan Blog and is constantly asked where to stay for a trip to the parks to save money, I suggest staying at another great hotel in the area.
Worst hotel I ever stayed at with my family
My husband and I and my 2 small kids were told to leave the hotel at 1:30 am by security for no reason there was a fight of some sort by other people we don't even know and some how we got caught up in it !!! Staff treated us like we did something wrong I went downstairs to get my pizza that i ordered for my family I was told to go to my room like I was 5 yrs old I am 35 years old with a family wanting our pizza !!! I told the lady I am not a child I don't need to be told go to go my room next thing I know security is at our door for no reason tell us we need to leave !! With our 7 yr old and 9 year old that were sleeping !!! I have never been treated this way in my life I would rather stay under a bridge with my family than at this place !!!
No to mention when I am checking out one of the staff member has the nerve to tell me to be quite really be quite when I'm being kicked out for no reason for what some other person did !!! Than I find out the guy who started everything the police let go and was comfortable sleeping in his room while we are out of a place to stay !! Oh and the pizza I ordered guess who ate it ??? Yes security and the staff our friends went back to get it and they were eating I hope it tastes vary well !!
