Verified Reviewer |Unfair treatment of senior mother
- - Alleges poor treatment of a 78-year-old at Upland and a $7,339 bill.
- - Alleges a $20,000 aggressive sales pitch to a vulnerable patient.
Dear California Dental Group Corporate,
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding the treatment my senior mother received at your Upland office. It is with great dismay that I bring to your attention the exorbitant bill she was presented with after a single visit, amounting to a staggering $7,339.
This situation is particularly distressing as she is a 78-year-old senior living on a fixed income and is in the early stages of dementia. I strongly believe that your Upland office has taken advantage of her vulnerable state.
During her visit, my mother was subjected to an aggressive sales pitch, with your staff attempting to offer her an excessive and unnecessary $20,000 worth of dental work. As her advocate and concerned family member, I find it utterly unacceptable that such a vulnerable individual was targeted in this manner. It is clear that this approach was manipulative and exploitative, taking advantage of her limited understanding and financial circumstances.
In my attempt to address this matter, I reached out to the Upland office, hoping to find an amicable resolution.
However, I was met with great resistance and uncooperativeness from the office manager. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to assist me in finding a reasonable solution only further confirms my belief that your Upland office is engaging in unethical practices.
Given the circumstances, I kindly request your immediate attention to rectify this situation. I implore you to undertake the following actions:
1. Conduct a thorough investigation into the practices of your Upland office, specifically regarding the treatment of vulnerable patients and the aggressive sales tactics employed.
2.
Review the billing records and charges applied to my mother's account, ensuring they are fair, transparent, and in line with industry standards.
3. Provide a detailed breakdown of the services rendered during her visit and the associated costs, justifying the exorbitant bill she received.
4. Take appropriate disciplinary action against the office manager in question for their unprofessional behavior and lack of cooperation.
5. Offer a reasonable resolution that acknowledges the financial burden placed upon my mother and provides her with a viable payment plan or reduction of the outstanding bill.
I trust that, as a reputable dental group, you take such complaints seriously and will promptly address this matter.
Failing to do so would not only reflect poorly on your organization but also reinforce the perception that your Upland office engages in exploitative practices.
I eagerly await your prompt response within [reasonable timeframe, e.g., 14 days] to discuss the steps you will take to rectify this situation. I sincerely hope we can resolve this matter amicably and restore my faith in your organization's commitment to patient care and ethical practices.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
Sincerely,
Albert Lovio

California Dental Group - Tooth Extraction Emergency Service Review
- - Free emergency services advertised but $1500 was charged for deep cleaning.
- - Prices did not include a filling; an extra $250 would be charged.
Went to "free emergency services" Needed extraction and filling but added all these other services Was charged $1500 for deep cleaning supposively to also include free emergency service- extraction, plus a filling and a tooth added to a partial. Everything was told verbally and manager was too cheap to waste paper or upgrade her computer and too lazy to write down the estimate so I handwrote it in front of her and confirmed it to her so I could understand the different options..once treatment started, prices changed and manager rudely said we didn't understand and she waisted so much time explaining !was told we had already been given a discount and the price did not include a filling!
It would be an additional $250 if we wanted to have it done! When the denture came back from Lab, The tooth looked very crooked very poor job and the doctor didn't seem to care he just wanted to get rid of us had wrote on the folder for me to sign that the partial was not fitting properly went 2 times to get an adjustment and eventually he refused to even touch it after he broke the end metal of partial without even asking us for permission to do so! the receptionists were very kind and understanding and so was the hygienist that did the deep cleaning they seem to understand the problems we were facing, but as far as The doctor and the manager they demonstrated no professionalism as well as crooked service . Please think twice about coming here!
These people lure customers with free service and then end up charging outrageous amounts of money for extremely poor service! worse experience EVER with the doctors and management .

- - They say the dentist cares more about money and lies to patients.
- - They were told porcelain dentures were available, but a cheaper material was given.
Do not go to this dentist. They only care about taking money from their patients, and they lie about the treatments in order to get more money out of you.
I went in and asked if they offered porcelain dentures and they said that they did and when it was time for me to pick them up they said they had not told me that they provided a different cheaper material. When I asked the lady who had informed me about this, she said that she had never told me that and that she could show me the contract but there was no contract.

CHARGED FOR UNTREATED TREATMENT
- - One X-ray was taken; $140 billed to insurance and $35 charged to me.
- - Receptionist was rude and charged to email the X-ray; it wasn’t emailed until I called.
They did only an X-Ray. It was only one picture, and they charged my Insurance $140.
They asked me to pay $35 for an X-RAY, Not only did they charge my insurance but they also charged ME. DO NOT GO HERE. The Receptionist is very rude, and she gives you attitude. I asked her to release my X-RAY pictures to another Doctor, she told me that I have to pay for her to email the pictures.
I gave her the money, but she still didn't email the pictures. I called and cussed at her, and she finally send it after mulitple tries.

- - California dental Group owned by Kamran Sahabi withheld treatment notes for months; notes produced after a state complaint.
California dental Group owned by Kamran Sahabi. I was very concerned about the accuracy of the treatment diagnosis and on multiple occasions, both orally and in writing, requested they produce a copy of my treatment clinical notes.
After several months had passed and I still didn't get the notes; I filed a complaint with the State of California. It was only after the complaint was filed that they finally produced my treatment notes. The only reason I can think of for not producing the clinical notes of their diagnosis and treatment is to change what they had written should a malpractice claim be filed. What is of further interest is that this dental practice appears to have a policy of withholding the patient information.
If it is their policy to withhold the patient information it raises the question WHY do they have such a policy? Have they had so much trouble in the past with bad patient outcomes to warrant such a policy? Regardless, I don't wish to be treated by a dental group which withholds its patients clinical notes.Very bad dental practice.
Wrong diagnosis and failure to address problem. They do business in Los Angeles and there is more information at www.cadentalgroup.net
