Unaddressed issues with truck
My wife and I paid cash for our Ram 4500 Cab and Chassis, we own it outright. We purchased our truck in September of 2019, from Roseville Auto Nation Dodge.
The Fleet Salesman, Larry was by far my most pleasurable experience buying a new vehicle. I called him up, told him what I was looking for, and he said he had it, give him a minute to research and make sure he did, but he was perfectly sure he did. The very next day he called me and said when you want to pick her up? I went and got her that very next morning, and absolutely could not have asked for a better salesman.
I was already amazed by this truck as I drove her home, the foot pounds of torque she has, she likes to work , and knowing her capabilities made this the truck for us.
In November of 2019 our truck started hopping when Id take of in loose dirt, mud, anytime I asked her to work. Then in March of 2020, she started making a clunking sound like something was hitting, it sounded like it was coming from the underneath of the truck. I went to see about a leveling kit for the truck thinking that might be the problem and the owner of the shop got underneath there and was taking a look and he says,I found your problem, your carrier bearing bracket and carrier bearing are twisted, you need to get that taken care of. I crawled underneath to take a look and saw that the frame was twisted.
I took my truck in to Cabral in Manteca, California, for routine oil change and to address the carrier bearing and other issues that the truck is having, them being:
#1-the navigation screen reads Device not supported cant take it off
#2-rhe carpet on the drivers side by thewleeator peddle is lifting, actually looks like it was cut too short.
#3-the CD player does not work, it worked for about a month after we purchased her then one day it just stopped.
#4-the shifter was loose
#5-it was making that clunking noise and
#6-when you shift her out of Park with foot on brake she makes a big clunk(like somebody just dropped the transmission in gear, from a high rise building).
When I took her in to the dealership I brought these issues to their attention. They changed the oil and filters as usual. They had my truck for two days, an I had to call them due to the fact that I hadnt received a call that my truck was ready. They informed me that the frame was twisted, and that it would have to go to a body shop to be fixed.
I absolutely under no circumstances want my truck to go to an auto body shop to fix the twisted frame, they want to cut the frame and replace the carrier bearing bracket. Now, somebody with a little commensence knows that you dont cut a frame, it creates a weak spot. Regulars less of how good the guy fixing it is, its still a week spot that will do it again when time comes. Now see I am an Almond Farmer from Salida,California, and this issue is going to be a major problem for me, I have harvest coming in the end of August/early September, maybe even sooner.
Harvest is one of the main reasons I chose this truck, she is a beast, she has not left me stranded and has done everything and beyond of what I have asked of her. She has never let me down and I plan to do the same for her. She has issues and I need them fixed ASAP. Harvest will be here before I know it and right now all I know is that my truck that I purchased almost a year ago, is broken and I intent on fixing her, not letting her down.
The service department told me, on my April visit to the dealership, that they would need a couple days to contact corporate to see about the issues.
I did not receive a call that I was supposed to. On my second visit to the dealership for a routine fuel filter , oil change and filter replacement, they told me that they haven't been able to get ahold of corporate for any answers to these issues, only that there is a third USB port that was never installed. Also that they had to contact corporate for a fix, and that they would call in a couple of days. Still to this day I have yet to receive a call from Cabralls, not even to let me know that my truck was ready, my wife had to call them, again.
Like I had mentioned before. I have Harvest coming in September and I absolutely need my truck at 100%, I dont know what is to be done, but I cannot be without my truck.
Now I am wondering what is the plan? Have they been in contact with corporate at all or are they stalling?
I have no idea as why this complaint. I am aFatmer and I cant afford to have down time, time is money, and it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, from my wife and I to be able to pay cash for our truck.
A response would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you for your time,
Dustin Smith
