FRAUD
- Arrived 2 hours late; cash only due to broken card reader.
- Water damage after service; plumber blamed the prior work.
I had Mark Burlingame (Burlingame Plumbing, Inc, Wheaton, IL) out because my dishwasher stopped working. He told me he would arrive at 1:00pm but didnt show up until 3:00pm with no explanation.
I had a doctors appt at 4:30pm that same day so had to cancel. I now have to pay a late fee. I know nothing about plumbing so I let Mark do his work. It took him about an hour and I asked if everything was ok.
Mark smiled and turned on my dishwasher. It sounded perfect. I was thrilled! Then I asked what did I owe him as I was reaching for my credit card but he said his mobile phone card reader was broken and could only take cash.
I thought that was odd but was just happy to have my dishwasher fixed and running. Thankfully, I had that much cash on hand and paid him. I let that cycle run all the way through then did 2 full loads because I had a lot of dishes. The next day my downstairs neighbor knocked on my door and said I flooded his condos kitchen area ceiling and kitchen cabinets.
I told him he was mistaken because I had my dishwasher fixed the day before. I looked under my sink and it was dry, it never leaked. My downstairs neighbor and I had always been on friendly terms so I showed him my kitchen then followed him to his condo. The ceiling above his dishwasher was soaked as was his cabinets!
I went back home and immediately called an emergency plumber to come out ASAP. He came out that night and looked at my dishwasher and said whoever you had out broke the bottom of the washer and that was why the water was going directly downstairs. Then he told me Id have to buy a new dishwasher. I was beside myself!
Now my condo insurance has to pay for the damages done which means my insurance will go way up. On top of all that my sister today found a post in a FB group that Burlingame Plumbing let their plumbing license lapse from 7/30/2022 and finally renewed it on 4/30/25!! That is illegal!!
The info was posted on a site named BUILDZOOM. PLEASE look it up and dont be taken advantage of like I was just!!
