RE: Cease and Desist Notice Harassment and Threats Against a Disabled Veteran
Dear Lt.
Beyer [498],
I am writing to formally demand that Lt Beyer of the Buffalo Police Department Cease and Desist any further threats towards Nathaniel Johnson or "Hospitalize" him in any form of intimidation tactic.Mr. Johnson is a protected disabled veteran. Shortly after 11:00 Am 9-11-2024 , Nathaniel Johnson filed a police report describing how he was assaulted, mentioning he had video of the three assailants, and a loss of money during the scuffle. After stating his minor injuries, Mr Johnson was told to come back Friday to pick up a copy of the police report Friday 9-12-2014.
Mr. Johnson Noticed errors on the report that was typed by Mrs Meraro. After Mr. Johnson mentioned the inaccuracies, LT.
Beyer notice the conversation between Mr. Johnson and front of of the police department.
file a police report on [date], you escalated the situation while listening to the conversation walk over towards Mr Johnson raising his voice telling him to "Get out of here before I send u to the hospital." Assuming that intimidation would disrupt Mr. Johnson from continuing his case he continues to threaten him "You want me to arrest you" " Get out of here your lying". This intimidation led to the report not correctly being filed.
Reason for report: While filming video of downtown Sue's Deli, Mr.
Johnson was yelled at by three males, one of the assailants smack the phone out of his hand, pushing him on the ground while kicking and holding him.
Police Response to Correcting the incomplete report Friday 11:44 Am on 9-12-2024:
Despite Nathaniel efforts to provide a complete account of the incident, He was met with intimidation and refusal to amend the report by the demands Mr Beyer orders to Mrs. Marero/ front clerk, not only not to make corrections to report by also not allowing him to file a new report. Mr. Johnson was coerced to leave without any mentions of the missing 60 dollars which was never returned.
These actions are not only unprofessional but also violate my **constitutional and legal
rights as an American to report a case.
Two of the laws protect fire mentioned rights include:
1. First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: The First Amendment protects the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. This includes the right to file complaints with law enforcement and government agencies without fear of retaliation.
2.
NY Penal Law Section 240.50 (Falsely Reporting an Incident): While this law addresses false reports, it indirectly supports the right to file truthful reports by criminalizing the filing of false ones. It implies that civilians have the right to make accurate and legitimate reports of incidents without obstruction.
User's recommendation: Call for help if they deny you reporting
Do Not Rely On Them
Arrogant, rude, incompetent in some cases. Afraid of the criminals.
Funding should be reallocated away from them and toward solutions that resolve or prevent crimes. Some police I encountered have big egos and/or are arrogant and rude.
Their job is to serve the public and protect them from crime. I do not feel served or protected by them in Buffalo, NY which as an awful place to begin with.
- Some are good i guess
- Afraid of the criminals
- Do not serve and protect the public as they are assigned to do
- Too many have ego issues
Preferred solution: Drop The Ego Be Respectful And Do Your Job
User's recommendation: Do Not Count On Them For Anything
