Incompetent Liars

Bucks 4x4 Center - Incompetent Liars

Brought our Wrangler in for an auxiliary brake for towing behind our motorhome. I should have backed out as soon as they had no clue what I wanted.

I scheduled my jeep in for install. Pre-paid fir most of it, and then when I cam back for them to install a final piece on my motorhome, they stated that since they had never done one, it took them longer than expected and I had to pay for extra labor. What?? Since I couldn't have the job completed without the extra $500 in labor, I went ahead and paid it.

This was on Saturday. When I brought my motorhome in on Monday for a final hookup, the system didn't work. Ended up spending the night on a nearby parking lot. Tuesday came .

. . they couldn't get it to work. Spent the night in a nearby hotel.

Wednesday came and I was told they wouldn't spend any more time on it even though it didn't work. The tech finally called the manufacturer of the brake and they stated that it was not compatible with the OEM harness Bucks had charged me a total of $255 for. So they removed the harness and wired it up using a simple four wire system with a four pin connector. Guess what....IT DIDN"T work!

So I was told there was nothing else they could do. I called the brake manufacturer and they walked me through how to finish hooking up the system and making the adjustments to the brake so I would not encounter devastating results on the highway. It took the rest of the day on Wednesday for ME to finish the work. I tried to get bucks to reimburse me for the harness they charged me for but couldn't use and for the added night in a hotel we had to pay for, but they kept ignoring my calls.

I finally complained with the BBB and they flat denied everything and that the Jeep was road worthy when they were done and the OEM harness was installed properly. NOT THE CASE! Lies, all lies! I ended up spending more on the braking system that was never completed than I would have spent at Camping World of all places!

Thieves and liars. Every one of them.

Look at the photo. Does that look like a Mopar OEM Towing connector harness to you?

Installed damaged parts and denied telling me

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The absolute worst service hands down. My JKU sat for nearly a month before any action was taken. After finally getting my Jeep back they denied to let me know that the brand new wheels they put on my Jeep, that one was damaged. I then let Bucks know as soon as I seen the damage they said they would order a new one right away. Well a week goes by and lack of communication on Bucks part I finally went into the shop and come to find out that they never ordered the replacement wheel ugh. I came to Bucks thinking they would be the best, and sadly I was proved wrong. Poor communication between employees and lack of informing customers on any delays or updates.

Very positive experience.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When deciding on who to hire to do the axle upgrades for my Jeep TJ I read several less than favorable reviews about Bucks 4x4 and was very surprised at some of the accusations toward Bucks. I don't normally add my comments to these forums, but I felt the need to give my personal customer experience to a company that has been in the Treasure Valley for a number of decades. After several very long and helpful phone conversations with a few of the Bucks 4x4 employees about how and what to upgrade my gears and traction adding components, I decided to go with Eaton limited slip TruTrac and a 4:56 gear combination. Thank you all for your patience, BTW. After the installation was completed and Brandon contacted to let me know my Jeep was ready, he had good new and bad news. The good news was that the installation went well with no problems, but the bad news was that the distributor sent the wrong gears, they sent 4:11 gears. I was very impressed with the fact that Brandon was honest and forthcoming with this information. Brandon could have just as easily not said anything about the the different gears and I would not have known any difference. I'm not sure what these other people on this site are "pissed" about, but I can't imagine that a company that would treat me with this level of integrity would do the things that are posted on this site. Thanks Bucks for a great experience Wade

Bucks 4x4 Center - Absolutely trustworty
I started doing business with Buck’s not long after moving to Boise about 2005. Since that time I’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars there and they’ve built me arguably one of the most off-road capable (and still streetable) Jeeps in town. They’ve also done repairs on everything from my Yamaha Rhino UTV to my pickup truck. Even from the beginning they’ve always offered good advice and fair prices. When there has been a problem, as happens from time to time, they have stood behind their work and resolved the issue. They’ve earned my trust over the past decade plus, and for me that’s saying a lot. I have always and will continue to recommend Buck’s 4x4 to anyone who is looking to upgrade their Jeep or is needing repairs to their current equipment.

I took my TJ back and found that they had robbed several major parts from it they stole the TRANSFER CASE AND ALL THE PARTS FROM MY REAR AND FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. but didnt know where it was 50 ft from the shop door STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP AND THE OWNER WAS WORST BECAUSE HE WILL LISTEN AND ACT LIKE IT NOT THE WAY HE DOES BUSINESS JUST BEFORE HE TELLS YOU A LIE AND NOT HIS PROBELM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I took it there cause employee told me was best in town and new to the area after hitting a deer and bold over holidays. They had it for over a week tried to get what was wrong and they gave me a list of stuff not cosr effective to repair and then said they had an employee would like to buy for parts i was told it wad as is and I said no because i had just purchased a brand new hard top in December and i refused to include it and when they said ok without the hard top i came clean out rig and they asked to get the too after the could get it covered i said yes i once again tried and tried to get a hold of them to get my hard top back for 3 weeks and when I finally Got Will on phone he claimed top was gone the next day claiming that I came back in middle of the night and took and dodged my calls for weeks. Scott the manager when i told him i was trying to get a hold of Will and then asked if they had cameras at shop that Will said my hardtop was stolen from their shop. Scott stopped responding to my requests and Both now ignore me. They both knew that I was selling it to pay balance on my new rig. They took advantage of me more about being new to the area and played i dont want you as lady to get taken advantage of.. $2000.00 STOLEN FROM ME DONT TAKE ANYTHING TO THESE PEOPLE

Here's what I can tell you Jeff buck is the owner contacted me via email. With a very sympathetic Forestville this is not tolerated I will get to the bottom of it this is not acceptable of my employees please call me I would like to speak to you personally.

I did and when that phone calls over irie kept our phone conversation into an email and shot it to him thank you I appreciate you looking into this as you said you'll get back to me next week Monday Tuesday preferably Wednesday at the latest please I need to update my legal adviser day you're handling this it's getting handled. Then Monday came Tuesday came Wednesday came Thursday came and lo and behold Friday came. I sent you an email telling him I found his behavior just as heinous as his staff Behavior then I expected to hear from him as he said in the first part of the week I said obviously you want to take this a different route because you have no follow-through you didn't do like you said and now I'm left wondering what are you up to. I go to Jeff location at 601 46th Street and this is what I see and take a photo of my Jeep parked directly in front of his Tree Shop bay doors early in the afternoon doors open everybody's working full tilt I take a picture of my Jeep I drive to the State Street location.

Here's where I can say that Jeff is exactly like his employees or should I say his employees are exactly like him he probably trained them when can track confronted with not contact me as he said he would gets a *** look on his face and says will the employees ever came back on Monday so I'd have anything to tell you my response to that was that as your excuse for not calling me and telling me that they poison come back you don't know where they are but I'm working on your problem but instead you do exactly what your employees do I have a problem in front of me I have an expensive problem in front of me she's not going away maybe if I just ignore don't take her phone calls ignore her email maybe she'll just give up on the two almost $2,000 accessory and go away. No my next question is one you're responsible witchy plan B's not for him to tell me I don't even know where your Jeep is whatever happened to your teeth what's between my employee will and you where is my Jeep I don't know where yours is do you realize I still you supposed to be $40 for the work that you didn't do I don't care about the $40 good to know where's my Jeep you don't know. You of course I gave him a few Choice words and told him what a lowlife he was I left thinking turn the lady who escorted me there went back with me to the 601 46th Street location where in turn she took pictures of my Jeep in their parking lot facing their shop doors as I open the doors and let her take pictures of the VIN numbers in the door the VIN number on the desk the VIN number on the other door and the fact that my door had a pork with it. The hinge spring popped off on the inside so you couldn't open the door from the inside we videotaped that and I said to her you please take pictures of the signs on their shop that any on authorized Vehicles left in the parking lot will be towed by Boise Towing.

Jeff Bach taking up space in his parking lot in front of his shop doors next to one of his employees trucks and three other vehicles they were getting ready to work on I'm assuming all sitting in the parking lot like little ducks in a pond but he doesn't know where my Jeep is well they certainly knew where to find my Jeep after I removed it from their parking lot they certainly knew where to find my Jeep when they took it upon themselves to poach my transfer case off of my Jeep they poked the front and rear differential off my Jeep they coat my overhead speakers off my Jeep but they don't know where my Jeep is Jeff buck is one of the lousy businessman I have ever met in my life ever he is a liar and does not by any means if I can tell you anything read reviews freedom freedom ask your friends Talk Amongst yourselves I had six different people none of which you knew each other when they found out where my jeep was the problem I was having they all said the same thing I never would have let you take it there and now that my Jeep is sitting at a real mechanic shop all the things that they tried to tell me where wrong with my Jeep don't exist what we do now is that I went in with a starter flywheel problem to now having a gaping hole in my transfer case used to be and pretty much my whole front end and rear end poached of everything I have about $1200to $1500 worth of parts missing off of my car not including the $2,000 accessory or the cost to have a reliable honest mechanic put all that stuff back in.

I've read the reviews I read the good ones I've read the bad reviews I've read the good ones again here's my problem with the good ones 95% of the good ones are people who are members of their four by four Club who spend 20-25 $30,000 on Jeeps so they can go out and play in the desert read the bad reviews one more time because those are the real people like the woman who found out that the parts he charged her for new used parts. charged her as if they were new when somebody else looked at her rig to find out that all the parts where used and that wasn't that long ago for all I know she's probably rolling with my transfer case because they sure they sure did poached a lot of the parts off my car and to buy them new yeah it's going to cost them a bundle which is why these 3 people have no soul no soul whatsoever look into their eyes they're like sharks their eyes are black I will have so much fun just hate the expense of dragging them into court so that somebody else can tell them what they should already be doing you don't send your friends you don't send your love ones and you don't take your personal vehicles anywhere near bucks 4 x4 you know who you send bucks 4x 4 people you hate and your enemies

Good Job

I have done businiicne. I have heard that their competition has asked a couple of people to phoney up reports of bad work.

Just not my experience. 4x4 pickups plus passenger cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles and even a motorhome. Tony, David, Jeff, Lynn and Sue over the years and even some people I never got their names from. The last time I had a tailgate lock I had trouble with and they fixed it for no charge.

Even my family has had them do work.

Their spewcialty was tires, rims and suspensions plus other pieces and parts. Now they have a little bit of everything and they do some general repair work to boot.

Im new in town and was having severe car troubles. I had no one to help me either getting to and from work but Bucks 4x4 did. the customer Service was outstanding they helped me get my car to the shop, showed me what was wrong, and fixed it it took them 3 days, to get it done. They got me to work and picked me up from my house when it was done, which I feel was above and beyond since they dont open till 8:30 and I go to work at 5:00 am. I will definietly go back to this store again. the counter guy was easy to talk to and very informative. Thanks to all the Guys at Bucks 4x4

Worst auto shop in the valley

They had my 95 jeep for 3 weeks and didn't do a thing. No calls nothing. Staff was rude, arrogant, and didn't even seem to care that I picked up my jeep after 3 weeks to spend my money somewhere else. Do yourself a favor don't ever go there, they couldn't even get a center console or soft top for me. By far the worst experience I have ever had trying to get something done to a car. Unless you like being lied to and treated like *** this is the last place you want spend your money STAY AWAY.

Dear Anonymous, I strongly apologize that you feel that way. We at Bucks 4x4 try to go above and beyond to take care of every customer.

In response to your comment we ordered the parts for the vehicle year you provided us, which was a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. Upon arrival of the parts, while attempting to install everything we discovered some inconsistencies with the vin number on your vehicle. We found that you actually had a different year vehicle than what your vin number had listed, which resulted in us having to order in the correct parts to correlate with the proper body style of your vehicle, to which some of those parts were not readily available. Before the parts arrived had arrived you stated you want to pick up your Jeep for the weekend, to which we finished up all the work we were capable of completing with what we had available.

At the time of pickup you did not express any of these concerns to management or the owner. Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or concerns and let me know the details of this event and I will take care of it to the best of my ability.

Thanks,

Scott with Bucks 4x4

You might have left a bad review for the wrong shop. If so would you kindly remove it?

Buck's 4x4 is the best place to go for any and all off road needs. I've been other places around town.. There is no comparison. Buck's is the best by far. The employees are amazing! Super informed and not pushy at all! So many products to choose from and such great quality! Definitely love the guys in the shop! They do incredible work. Have had things installed from little sensors to big parts and NEVER had a problem. It's like family at Buck's 4x4. You'll never be disappointed. Great family run business with hometown values.

Damage to body, refused to repair.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bucks installed a new spare tire mount on my jeep and cracked the tailgate in the process. The bolt that started the crack was not on the original pattern so it was 100% their fault. They refused to fix it and I ended up welding / painting it myself. They bill $100 an hour for labor, and it's by far the worst craftsmanship I've seen. I'll never use bucks again. What's more, I ran into "Buck" while fishing and he too voiced his disapproval of how it's being ran now. Ten more words to reach a hundred. So many words.

Bucks 4x4 Boise, Idaho

I have my Dad's 1961 CJ5 4X4 Jeep which I wanted restored to the original working condition, with the motor rebuilt, service the radiator, new brakes, service the transmission and completely go through and have overhauled to be in a safe reliable working condition. I decided that Buck's 4X4 in Boise would be the best place to go. Upon discussing with them all that needed to be done, they said they could have the original motor rebuilt but would need $3,000.00 up front before they could start. I had the Jeep towed to Buck's 4X4 on March 26, 2012 and gave them the $3,000.00 via my credit card. They had the motor removed and rebuilt, I waited and waited for them to finish the work, I called numerous times and went to the shop also and was assured they were working on it. On November 14, 2012 I was told the work was complete and the balance of the bill was $3,729.68. I asked if everything was in top notch working order and I was told everything was in great condition and they had been driving it up and down the road. I paid them the $3,729.68 for the work and was again assured the work was complete. I had the Jeep towed to my residence in Homedale, Idaho. Upon receiving the Jeep I found the majority of the work not completed or not done. Shortly after getting the Jeep home, Nov. 14, 2012, as weather permitted, I checked the things that were to be done and found numerous things not done and charged for. I phoned Buck's 4X4 and gave them a list of things I had found so far and they said they would get back with me. I waited a week, phoned back and talked to Jeff. He hung up on me!! I've spent many hours correcting the work which they did and didn't do. I'm trying to do it myself as I can't afford to have it done again. Below find a list of work incomplete or not done all which I was charged for: Parking lights, signal lights and horn wires all disconnected and not hooked back up. The low oil light was disconnected and not hooked up to the sending unit. Charged for shift boot $9.99 + freight $8.00 Not on Jeep and I didn't receive it. Instrument cluster speedometer $149.00 + labor $64.00. Speedometer doesn't work – odometer does work – new heat gauge and sending unit doesn't work, voltage regulator was hanging by one screw, instrument lights plugged into turn signal indicator, oil pressure wasn't plugged into the instrument cluster. Heater hose hooked but was laying on the exhaust manifold. (would have melted in not found) Battery cable was to long so they cut the ends and bolted together (this is useless) New body mounts – the front body mount was a totally wore out old rubber and rusted. Grill on the front of the body was setting on the power-take-off shaft for the wench. Steering gear housing was not checked and was out of oil. Steering knuckles on the front of the Jeep were not checked and needed lubrication. Rear wheel bearings not checked and needed lubrication. Not one of the *** fittings (grease fittings) were greased. Just the same as when it was sent in. Oil bath air cleaner not cleaned or serviced. Oil - charged for 5.5qts. +5 qts. The jeep uses 6 1/2 pts. In the transmission and transfer case and the differential front and back both take 2 ½ pts = 5 pts. This all equals 5.75 qts and they charged for 10.5 qts. I went in to check to see how they were coming along on the Jeep toward the end of the summer and the fellow said he changed the oil in the transmission and transfer case and put a filter in the transmission ( a 1961 Jeep doesn't have a oil filter in the transmission) The oil wasn't changed in the transmission and transfer case and I was charged for it. Spray painted the frame under the Jeep and charged $480.00 – not authorized
