Roach and Mold Infested

When I first moved in, my movers said you have visitors. I went to the front door looking for someone. He pointed to a mound of roaches coming out of the stove and all over the kitchen floor. I almost passed out. I had never seen so many roaches. I knew that there was an infestation and I was probably never going to get rid of them. In retrospect, the apartment manager told me that the apartment was not going to be ready until my move in date. I was eager to move in because I was moving out of my boyfriends apartment due to a break-up. I believe that was her strategy to keep me from seeing the roaches until my move in date which would have been too late for me to find something else. I was backed in a corner and had no choice but to sign the lease. Dont let this happen to you. Also, I noticed that the apartment manager tries to fault tenants for the roach infestation. Tenants can be the cause of roaches here and there, but if pest control is not effectively treating the apartments, an infestation will occur. That is not the tenants fault. I have rented for over 20 yearsmultiple dwellings and Im sure some tenants close to me had roaches. I never had a problem with roaches/rats because the pest control companies were doing a good job combating pest. At the Terrace, there were roaches living in the smoke alarms. They would go off all night because the roaches were crawling around inside and triggering the alarm. I had to ask them to remove them out of the apartment. I saw remnants of roaches that had been painted over on the walls and pantry before I moved in. I spent hundreds of dollars buying professional strength spray to minimize the roaches in my apartment. The apartment manager kept sending pest control to my apartment. Obviously, they were spraying water because it did nothing. Im not sure what type of roaches they are but they are very hard to kill. They walk around sick for days before they die. By that time, they have laid eggs all over the place. I never invited any one to my apartment because I was afraid that roaches would come out while entertaining company which would have been very embarrassing. My children and I were constantly experiencing upper respiratory illnesses. We made frequent visits to our family doctor for sinus infections. We all kept experiencing nose bleeds, sneezing, coughing, headaches, hay fever, and other upper respiratory infection symptoms. My oldest daughter had her tonsils removed because she was affected the most. I happened to see a roach come out of one of my AC vents and I used a step stool to peak in. There was black mold covering the inside of the vents and some was on the wall. I noticed that all the vents had black mold. I later noticed that my window seals were full of mold. I told my doctor what I had found. He said I needed to move immediately. I was stuck in a lease so that was not an option. I went out and purchased about 5 air purifiers and was counting down the days of my lease ending. That apartment was killing us. After we moved out, we never experienced upper respiratory illnesses since. Also, I wanted to mention that is very important to know that you will probably need a home phone, unless you can use Wifi calling on your cell phone. Wifi calling is not reliable in that complex either. It is very close to the airport and you wont get any reception on a cell phone. I couldnt dial 911 when my Wifi was giving me problems and there was an electric issue from the AC. A fire had started in my AC unit and I had to call the fire department. That is dangerous. That staff are liars. I had two packages that were signed for by someone in the office and when I went to pick them up, they tried to say they had already giving them to me. I had never been in the office. Never signed for those packages. Either they gave it to someone else by accident or kept them for themselves. They try to stay in a budget by patching things up instead of fixing them. That is why my AC unit went in flames, twice, and I had to call the fire department. The fire department had to inspect all apartments about 3 times during my stay there. Obviously, they were out of compliance. Skip The Terrace and Brookstone apartments. Go somewhere else.
