Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
Having this insurance its all about preventative treatment, looking after ones teeth so you do not have any major problem. After been with our fantastic dentist for over 16 years we moved so we were looking at changing to a Dentist closer to us that could offer the same type of Denplan dental insurance.
I called to enquire from Brooklands Dentist if they had Denplan Insurance and they confirmed they had Denplan Insurance, and told them cover we have which I received an affirmative reply so asked for a consultation for my wife and I and asked if it would be free as we are with Denplan.
The person that answered the phone placed me on hold and went to check with her manager, she came back and said no there would not be any consultation charges so I went ahead and made a booking to see the Dentist, Wynand who owns the Dental practice.
We attended the appointment and my wife was told that she was in need of urgent dental treatment and it would cost us in excess of £5,000. I was also told that I needed work done on my teeth. We were both very shocked with this as we both have two dental check ups every year, our teeth are cleaned twice a year and anything that comes up is dealt with immediately.
On leaving the practice we stood outside speaking to Wynand and his assistant for the best part of 45 minutes.
I reiterated to them both about the appointment been free and thanked Wynand for his time and mentioned another time that we were told there was no fee been charged for our appointment. Wynand agreed and as there was nobody at reception, Wynand told his assistant to make sure we were not charged and told her to let the lady who works with the billing know.
We were called about a month later to say Booklands do not have the same type of fully comprehensive Denplan Cover as we have had for the past 16 years , Brooklands Dentistry only have a cheaper version of Denplan cover at their practice unfortunately. I said I would discuss with my wife and come back to them, just before putting the phone down I asked if Wynand Assistent had made sure that no appointment charges were made for my wife and I and she confirmed that there were no charges.
I discussed with my wife and she said we have enjoyed the type of full cover and did not mind that our current comprehensive insurance was a lot more expensive as it had the cover which suited our needs We decided to go back to our existing Dentist and discuss the dental work that was urgently needed and ask why they had not looked after our teeth like they are supposed to do.
Our existing dentist was shocked by the revelations we told her that our teeth were said to be in such a bad way, after over two hours of a consultation, X-rays et Al we were totally assured that our teeth were in very good condition and we did not need any of the so called urgent dental treatment.
We decided to stay with our existing dentist even if it meant driving for two hours to see them. I called Brooklands Dentist Practice and informed them that we would not be changing over to them
as they did not have the same level of comprehensive cover what best suited our needs and asked the receptionist to convey our thanks to Wynand for seeing us.
Over a year later we received a bill from Brooklands Dentistry for two consultations, we were shocked to receive this bill!
I picked up the phone and called the practice to enquire why they were charging us a year later and after the dentist owner Wynand himself confirmed there was no charge. The lady I spoke to said she would have to find out why!?
Months later still no reply, I had to call Brooklands Dentistry again and ask the same question I asked before, while I was waiting for a response and unbeknown to me, my wife went ahead and paid the invoice as they kept on sending invoice after invoice. I am furious that my wife paid the invoice because we should not be paying for something that we were told repeatedly we did not have to pay and on top of that they come over a year after we were actually seen like scroungers looking for money.
I was finally called back from Brooklands Dentistry today 16 July 2024 to say they will not refund the money my wife erroneously paid!
I think what they have done is disgraceful, dishonest and unprofessional, they must be struggling financially or maybe this is just the typical type of people they really are
Would I recommend themyou know the answer without me having to write the answer!
